What's your favorite time of year and season?

Post by Artemis Lover » Sat Jun 19, 2004 12:46 am

I don't really care that this topic is bogus, it will be interesting to see what is everyone's favorite. My faves:
SEASONS IN ORDER AND WHY:
1.Winter: I love Christmas, my birthday (1/06) and Valentines' Day. I also just love the weather (usually cloudy and rainy here) and the coziness.
2.Fall: I love the crispness and beauty, and all the newness of the school year. I also adore Halloween and Thanksgiving. Fall is almost tied with Winter for first.
3.Summer: I really like all the fun things you do, and of course the break from school, but sometimes how hot it is just annoys me. I have sensitive skin, so I just burn away in the sun- and I'm really sensitive to heat besides.
4.Spring: I think that the uninterestingness of this season makes it not appeal. It's sort of the doldrums- and there is really strange and unpredictable weather.
TIMES OF YEAR:
1. Christmas- My family has cool stuff we do, and I love the friendlieness and, of course, the gifts! I'm not getting into religious stuff on a public site tho.
2. Halloween- It's really fun, so long as you have a good costume (I'm going as Arwen from LOTR (yes I'm proactive) and I have this shimmery blue fabric for a cape. If you mention Halloween, tell your costumes if you have them!)
3. Valentine's Day- I really like the simplicity. I mean, you don't get a bunch of huge extravagant gifts, but maybe some candy or something.
~Post both seasons and time of year if possible!
EDIT: Yeah, I get hay fever during spring as well. Just another reason to dislike it.

The thing is, Henrietta has—how can I put this? Kind of a big butt. If Henrietta were a celebrity? She’d be J-Lo.
Not that J-Lo has what I would call a big butt. But others have opined that this is so. I think J-Lo has a normal, healthy butt. As does Henrietta.

My favorite seasons would have to be spring and winter. I like spring because it's a pretty season, and a great beginning for something new. I like it even if I do get hay fever during this time. I like winter because I find it to be a pretty season as well. I find the cold and scenery to be inspirational and I tend to write better songs and stories during that time.

My least favorites are summer and fall. I hate the summer (even though my birthday is in July) because I can't cope with heat that well. We don't have air conditioning and it's horrible. I dislike the fall because that's the time when my depression gets to be at it's worst.

Winter is by far my favorite season. I love everything about it. I love snow (even though we don't get much down here in Texas, but we get the occasional fall), ice, the cold weather, and crispness of the wind...and I adore Christmas. I get heavily into the season every year.

I despise Summer, especially Texas summers. I cannot stand the heat, and it gets well into the 100's here at some points. I hate the humidity, the bugs, and the high electric bill.

and, Artemis Lover...I really don't see a point to saying, "What's your favorite season?", and then listing something you like about all four o_O; Generally "favorite" denotes just one or two.

I love Autumn. The beautiful leaves, the peaceful atmosphere, the knowledge that all the bastard plants who give me allergy attacks in the Spring and Summer are dying.... it's great.

Can you tell which are my least?

That's another reason i've come to hate summer. I NEVER had allergies in the summer until I moved to Texas...God-forsaken state. Now they just get worse and worse every year. I've resorted to taking Clariten now.

No kidding! I find that my allergies don't bother me as much in the summer. But in the spring, they can get hard to deal with, but as long as I have Clariten on me, then I'm fine. Not to mention, that spring in Japan looks lovely with the cerry blossoms. It would be grat to go on a hanami (cherry blossom viewing trip). Sadly for now, I can only enjoy the pictures ;_;

My favorites are definitely spring and summer. Perhaps spring a little more. I love the warm sunny weather. Spring is pretty with all the green leaves and flowers. Summer can get too hot sometimes but I rather be hot than freezing my ass off. Summer and spring fashion is also better and you can spend more time oudoors doing stuff. Like BBQing or taking a walk in the park. My bday is also in the summer but I actually dislike the fact that it's in the summer and not in say spring when I'm still in college. But anyways I always feel more alive in these two seasons.

Fall is bland... the leaves look pretty sometimes but they're gone before you know it. And I HATE winter. In winter it's too cold, too much ice and snow, days are too short, and you have to wear a million layers to keep warm. The outdoors look depressing with everything being so bleak, and I'm more likely to get sick in the winter from a cold or something. Yeah I get allergies in the warm seasons at times but mine are nothing to complain about. I swear I'm moving to Florida or Cali when I graduate to get away from these unpredictable cold Jersey winters. Only good things with winter for me are I always have the holidays and winter break to look forward to.

Spring is my favorite season of the year. I like how it's not too cold but not too hot, either. I also like how it's a little unpredictable during the first couple of weeks of it, too. This past year, I had to get my fan out during Spring because it was so hot and then a week later, it's back to being cold again. ^^;; I don't have too many problems with hay fever, so I'm spared and can enjoy the pretty trees blooming, which is what I like most about Spring. The only thing I don't like about Spring is how the mornings are always so muggy. I hate muggy weather. ><

My least favorite season would have to be Summer. It's too freaking hot and I can't stand the heat. I'd rather be cold than hot because at least to me it's easier to get warmed up than it is to get cold. My hands get all sweaty from the heat and then it's annoying to use the mouse. My dad doesn't let us turn on the air conditioner until night unless it's 90 degrees out, but even when it's not 90 degrees, it still gets hot and I hate burning up. I also hate the road trips we take every summer because my dad always starts yelling whenever things don't go his way, so it's hard to enjoy a vacation. >< The only thing I really like about Summer is probably swimming and being out of school (back when I was still in school).

My favorite holiday is Christmas. I like it because it seems like everyone is feeling happier than usual, even my dad. ^^ We always have a good time visiting with families, I love eating the ham and turkey on Christmas dinner, the snow is pretty (even though it's too cold) whenever it snows. I also like all the pretty decorations and lights, not to mention the Christmas music (which is practically the only time of the year I listen to the radio ^^;; ), and of course, presents!

My least favorite holiday would have to be New Year's. I just don't really see what the big deal about it is. You stay up late until Midnight and scream at the top of your lungs "Happy New Year!", but really New Year's isn't any differrent from any other day, at least to me it's not. It's just another day. I don't really care to socilialize much these days, so it'll be rare if you find me at a New Year's Eve party. It's an ok holiday I guess and it's not like I hate it...I just don't see what the big deal is about it.

Fall. Definalty. Much like ParaKiss pointed out, it's very beautiful. The pretty tones in the leaves, the crisp bite in the air. Just beautiful. Much like everyone else, I hate summer. I'd rather be cold than hot. You can take measurements in the winter to keep warm, but in summer it's hard to get at a comfortable tempteture and not get busted for indecent exposure.
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

Spring for me. ^^ I love spring weather...just because it's not freezing cold/raining (like it always does in winter over here -_-) and it's not really, really hot, like summer. Plus, my birthday is in April.
My favorite holiday is Christmas , because it's so fun. ^^ Only problem is that I never know what to get people as a gift -_- I also like thanksgiving. FOOOOOD. :-P

My favorite seasons are spring and winter. Spring because the temperature is "just right" and the many pretty, girly colors that are abundant when the flowers bloom... *sigh* ...and winter because I can cope with the cold better than the heat in the summer; I can just bundle up in my warmest clothing and drink hot chocolate at night. ^_^ And how can I forget Christmas and my birthday!?

Spring is definately the best season for me since it's not too hot, not too cold, just right for me! But not only do i like the temperature of the season. but I also like to see how all plants and trees have fully bloomed and to watch cherry blossoms fall of the trees which is beautiul to looks at, at the right time.

My favorite time of year is Spring. Winters in Florida are awful, because some our trees die, yet the palms remain. The juxtaposition of the two things is somehow very unattractive. Depending on what type of grass you have, the lawns also turn brown. Everything feels bare and not lush at all.

When Spring returns, everything becomes more beautiful. In April and early May, it is hot, yet the humidity is not quite strong, so we don't have the daily thunderstorms that occur in summer. Ot's at this time that all the citrus trees bloom, and the whole area smells wonderful. The scent is just amazing.

It would be nice if we had distinct seasons around here, but we really don't. The Rockies mess with Pacific Ocean air masses which interact with arctic air masses and northern-American air masses. (Weather forecasts can change 5 or 6 times a day - if not more often than that).

Winter is by far my least favourite - it can start anywhere between October and January (we've had many Halloweens where the snow is already a permanent resident, but we've also had Christmases that were over 20 C - that's just under 70 F). The snow doesn't go away until late April/early May, and even then it's not uncommon to get more snow. And then there are the windchills which make it feel like it's -30 or -40 C (-40 C = -40 F). The only nice thing - no insects!

I guess my favourite would be summer (I tend to think of it as "not winter", since we really don't get much of a spring or fall). It tends to be nice out. It usually doesn't get too warm (rarely above 30 C - around 75 F). We don't get much rain (Calgary, along with most of southern Alberta, is technically classified as "semi-arid desert"). Even so, all of the flowers bloom, and it really is quite nice.

Favorite: Summer. I grew up in Miami, so I'm used to hot weather, hitting the beach, checking out the eye-candy....*ahem* Back to the season, though...everything about it is very cool. Evening barbeques, ideal swimming weather, and the ability to wear unencumbering clothing all make it a good time, at least for me. Plus, it's the perfect "get-off-your-ass-and-do-something" weather; I like outdoor activities like rollerblading and street basketball, and the comfy warmth of summer is just right for all that.

Least Favorite: Winter. My God, it gets cold up here in Boston, and sadly, the wretched snow storms only make it worse. Now, I like snow, but when even a foot of the stuff isn't enough to close down school, one tends to get a bit irate, especially when trudging through it is the only way to get to my office ><.

I'd have to say I enjoy the transition seasons (fall and spring) the most, as it's a happy medium between hot and cold with nice weather for the most part. Of the two seasons I'd say I enjoy fall the most because in conjunction with the nice weather outside, it looks beautiful outside. The feel in the air is perfect, the only thing that could make it better is if there was a special someone to spend it with, because in the transition seasons I find myself feeling more lonely than normal and have more romantice stuff going through my head. ^^;;; Besides that, fall and spring are the top of my list.

Winter is definetly at the bottom. Not because of the snow, because I love it, but all the shit a ton of snow causes. It's harder to drive in, which doesn't concern me too much, but so much snow buildup means less access for people who walk everywhere like me with sidewalks getting very little attention. I don't mind going outside looking like an eskimo when I want to go places, but it's ridiclous that I can't even use sidewalks and am forced to walk on the (non-existant) shoulders on roads where people have a hard enough time driving when it's great weather out. And I don't exgarrate when I say a lot of snow, go to the pictures thread in the member bb forum to see a pic of me one night we were using actual swords to break up some of the built up snow at the end of the driveway to widen the path to it's actual size.

Holidays I would have to get back to this thread sometime else as there's a lot and I don't feel like searching through my brain right now. ^^;;

My fave would be winter. LOL... here's why:

- People sweat less in winter. Really. So it's less smelly at times o.O;;;
- I love snow.
- I hate having to wear "light" clothes XD
- I don't really like the heat of summer, cause I almost can't see with all that light, and I can't go out, cause it's too hot.

Fall is the best for me. Like others have said before me, the colours are beautiful, we get some relief from the undying heat of summer...And my birthday is in September. ^^ I also enjoy the beginning of school, because then the homework load is generally light, or at least in September, because everyone's getting used to all the changes...

Least Favourite: Spring. Canadian Springs SUCK. Why? Because there is still snow (And keeps on snowing until, like, April...) and when there is no SOLID snow, it turns into slush. Stupid slush, getting you all wet...At least snow is pretty, and white...But by the time it's Spring the snow/slush/water hybrid is all gray and black...Yucky. You can't have snowball fights with slush, or at least, not very good ones, and when you do get involved with slush you get all wet, and then you get cold...Spring just doesn't have all the fun of Winter or Summer...

¬_¬ You live on the East side don't you. Try living near Vancouver where all we get is rain rain rain rain and more rain (except in the summer when we NEED IT). I'd kill for snow in winter.

Favorite time: Spring. It's not to hot, not to cold, the weather's perfect and the night comes a little later.

Other Favorite Time: Winter. Because when shitty little B.C. actually does gets some decent snow it's very pretty.

Least Favorite Time: Summer. It's too damn hot! I hate having the fans drone on and leaving my window open  That and I mostly have black, non summer clothes, that weren't meant for hot weather.

Put me in with the autumn lovers. (I don't like the word fall. It's too simple for such a pretty concept) Specifically late autumn, just before the snows come, when there's a slight chill in the morning air, when you get the swoosh of leaves as you run through them, and there's all the anticipation of the holidays and the new year.
Things I think Are Funny Early in the Morning: If Batman were a Smurf: "Quick, Robin! We must smurf down to the Batcave and smurf the Batplane! Then we must smurf the batsmurf so we can smurf where the Joker is smurfing!"

Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."
