I have no idea. That was only speculation on my part. I stopped watching Teletoon years ago as well, when they took all the good shows off.peachvampiress wrote:RoastedTwinkiesAside from Cardcaptors and those random anime specials (Ninja Scroll, Macross Plus etc.) they used to air around Christmas about eight years ago, what other anime has teletoon aired? I can't seem to recall any and I stopped watching that station a loooong time ago when they got rid of all their good shows.or Teletoon (www.teletoon.ca) will pick up the licence to air it here in Canada.

I also watched it. It was. . . OK. The first cartoon they showed, I thought, "Hey, they're ripping off the Ben Stein character from Animaniacs!" And the writing is very modern American cartoon. Not anime-like. But I did like the animation, especially Ami's floating odango. And the theme song is pretty good. I'd like to see them maybe only do two cartoons and spend the rest of the time with human-Puffy talking and maybe doing a song.
The best thing about the show was the way they slip in snippets of Japanese speech in the cartoons. Train the little kids to listen to it and maybe we'll get some subtitled anime on US TV!

Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

The awesomeness of DDR Ultramix 2 kept me from watching this (as well as doing anything else until 3AM >.>;;; ), and I forgot to set up a tape in case that did happen.Meh. ;-; Does anyone know if there's going to be a replay of its mini-marathon anytime soon?

I'll finally post my opinion about the show. When Hi Hi Puffy started airing, Sailorasteriod taped it and sent it to me, which was how I got to see the show. I can't decide whether or not this really needs spoiler tags, so I'll add them anyway.
I thought it was disappointing. It was cool how they incorporated Japanese into it, but the script was very poorly written and it was pretty much like your typical american cartoon. It wasn't anime like at all.
o_O; I didn't expect it to be..I'm surprised that you did.RoastedTwinkies wrote:
I thought it was disappointing. I love it, and I didn't even get to watch it with sound. I caught the second episode while eating at a pizza place, where they usually have cartoon network playing muted on the TVs. There was closed-captioning, so I knew what was going on. I thought it was adorable.
Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I was also hoping there would have been more live action stuff than what there was. I hoped at least half of the show would be live action, with music videos and the like. But yeah, I still love the music, however, I will not be watching the show. This past weekend, my order for the soundtrack finally came it. It's funny how the CD is made in Canada, yet I had to order it from the US. The music still kicks ass though.

It's the Cartoon Network.... Why did you expect Live Action? I don't mean that to sound rude, but it seems kind of obvious that it would be mostly/all animated.RoastedTwinkies wrote:I was also hoping there would have been more live action stuff than what there was. But, still, most of their music videos are animated, at least the ones that I have seen. Perhaps they could have used those?

3D Publisher is coming out with a Hi Hi Puffy Amiyumi game for Game Boy Advance! From the screenshots, I don't think the game looks that good. I'm hoping the game will be better than I think it will be. I would love to get my hands on some Puffy merchandise, but I want to make sure the quality is there before I buy it.
Speaking of the merchandise, since Hi Hi was released in the US (not as of yet in Canada) what have you seen on the store shelves lately? I would love to get a hold of Puffy Amiyumi dolls, but I have not seen anything new on ebay.

Hi Hi Puffy Amiyumi is now airing on YTV in Canada! This is old news though.. I think they started airing it around November-ish. For the Canadian people, check out YTV.com for your timezone schedule!
After seeing a few more episodes, I don't think the show is as bad as I originally thought after seeing the first episode. But I think one of the reasons why it couldn't be more in an anime style is because the anime style is so overused that television producers don't want it anymore. That's what my friend was saying about general tv over the weekend. I think it is an accurate statement because when I reapplied to college, they didn't want any anime or cartoons in my portfolio.

... They don't want anime or cartoony drawings? Aaaack. What if that's all you draw? ^^; What if you can only manage realism with animals? Eeeek, I wouldn't be accepted in a million years! >.o;
... Er- anyways... yeah, this show's really adorable. ^^ It is pretty funny/cute when they continue speaking in Japanese after singing or when they randomly blurt out something in Japanese.
And it looks like Kaz is inspired by their real manager too...

I think this show is alot better for girls, they targeted to, to watch rather than all those other "I can't wait to be a teen!" shows. The girls love for music and devotion to their fans is a great role model!
I have a 2 1/2 year old who rather watch Puffy than say... most of the cartoon on Nickelodeon. SO much so, that when I bought the soundtrack she tries to sing along and play her toy drum set (we bought her for christmas)
And I think the voice actors do a great job! And as for Puffy themselves, I love them! I went to one of their shows in NY and they were awesome!
