I couldn't help but notice this in the Villans topic... Does anyone recognize the accents of the girls singing the theme song for this show? Does anyone realize that their accents are distinctly Japanese? They are none other than Puffy (Amiyumi)! Btw, as a side note, I don't think they should have the Amiyumi attachment to their name in North America. That's all thanks to a certain P. Diddy-miester that claimed the name "Puffy" in North America even though Puffy Amiyumi had been around for much, much longer than he has.
Anyway, here's their official website:
www.puffyamiyumi.com
How many people like Puffy? Though some of their music can get pretty dry (take their The Very Best of Puffy Amiyumi Jet Fever CD for example)I personally love their music because it's so fun and upbeat. I'm personally fond of Kore Ga Watashi No Ikirumichi (That's the Way It Is) and Stray Cats Fever (I even heard this song played at the mall once!). I love just about all their songs. It's too bad that they're underpromoted (you may have seen their commerical for their latest album 'Nice' which aired on CN from the end of October and throughout November even though it was originally released in NA in August)
What are your thoughts? Does anyone else agree?

I knew who did the opening theme :D. In fact, Teen Titans has a Japanese AND English opening that they once in a while alternate.
As for PuffyAmiYumi , I have "An Illustraited History" on CD that I got for Christmas this pat year. While I really like thier music, I can't listen to them all the time. Their "sound" is very high and hyper and if I listen to them for an extended period of time I get a screaming headache.
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

You know, I always wondered who sang the theme, becuase I could hear the distinct asian sound in the voice. Interesting to know.
EDIT: well, I just watched an episode, and..they DID use a japanese version! Kickass!
Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

That's awesome! I heard there was a Japanese version of the theme, but I had no idea it was used in the show!

Something I found out at AnimeNext: Puffy Amiyumi will get their own show on Cartoon Network starting on 3 December, and thus far they've signed for 26 episodes. It's called Hi Hi Puffy Amiyumi and will be a combination live action and animation. I don't see mention of it on CN's website and I don't really have independent confirmation, but this came out of a Warner Brothers merchandising book that a panelist said she'd gotten at a trade show recently, and it certainly looked official, so maybe this is in the nature of inside information. ^_^ I'm certainly going to check it out.

Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

I just sat here, watching Cartoon Network, and saw a commercial for...an animated show about Puffy Amiyumi, and more J-pop singers?!
WTF?!
This is just AWESOME! It had Puffy Amiyumi in the commercial, and the animations were SO CUTE.
o_o Wow. Japnaese influence in the US is ust becoming more and more obvious.

Topic merged with ol Puffy Amiyumi thread.

And I don't really like them that much. I like the Teen Titans theme, but the rest of their songs are just a tad too bubbly for me. That, and their voices grate my nerves.
Oh, and RT, P. Diddy had been using the name Puff Daddy since around 1993, where Puffy AmiYumi came around in about 1995. They haven't been around longer than he has, they've just been recording their own music longer. Even before P. Diddy was releasing singles, he went by Puff Daddy. ^^;;

^_^;;;
But I still don't think P. Diddy should have gone after them in court. If he was changing his name anyway, why not let it slide? I think he's far too controlling. Aparently, he's working to get a copyright on "P."

I just went to their site and I really like the music, it's so fun. I heard about them a while ago (before I left the states) while watching TeenTitans, but I couldn't find a CD so I gave up (plus I kept messing up the name). I'm definatly going to have to get this CD now that I know it's out
Edit: I just went to the CN website and saw clips from the show, even though they arn't doing their own voices (I didn't really expect them to be able to due to time constraints and they probably stuggle with english) it's SUPER SUPER CUTE!!! I hope that it play's over here.

>< I'm glad you got it to work. The first time I tried, the damn movie wouldn't work, and then it froze my browser and crashed.

I just went to CN's website! I'm only able to watch the intro to the show because the links to the other videos don't seem to work. I love the animations! This is so damn cute! I *really* hope it comes to Canada, otherwise I'll have to find someone to tape the show and send it to me.

I don't know why that is, I have the same kind of problem with Mtv/VH1 stuff.
I liked the opening and the clip of "Biggest Fan" was cute, but my fav was the Dance Contest
Yumi and Ami are in this dance contest, they start out doing this Russian type dance, and then some cowboy tries to yank them of stage so they change to something else (I think Scottish people) and then somebody else tries to get them off stage and Ami(I think it's Ami, the one with pink hair) trips and stubs her toe and they have this big melodramatic scene where she's all 'You have to go on without me Yumi' and Yumi's like 'But I don't know anymore dance moves'. It's just so funny how over the top it all is.
OK. That was a couple of months ago, so I guess they moved it up. Sooner is better than later anyway!

Perhaps, could maybe someone be able to tape the show and post it on bit torrent? Or find where it's available to download or something? I haven't been able to find any sources. While most of the people on this board are from the US, some of us are not. Like me, I'm from Canada and I recall that other members are from other countries as well, including England, France and Australia. If someone does step up to the plate to do that, I will love you forever!

Aww that really sucks. I've done that a lot of times. When I see a preview on TV that looks good, I'm like 'okay, I'm gonna watch it' and then I completely forget. I hate it when I do that.
Anyway, back on topic. I don't know if or when, but I'm sure that YTV (
www.ytv.com) or Teletoon (
www.teletoon.ca) will pick up the licence to air it here in Canada.

Aside from Cardcaptors and those random anime specials (Ninja Scroll, Macross Plus etc.) they used to air around Christmas about eight years ago, what other anime has teletoon aired? I can't seem to recall any and I stopped watching that station a loooong time ago when they got rid of all their good shows.
