Invader Zim is finally making its way to DVD. The studio? ANIME WORKS. This is considered an anime release, so don't expect to find it everywhere. Not that I wouldn't drive miles to buy this. It's still got the cheap price of American DVDs, and c'mon, it's Invader Zim.

How is Invader Zim! considered an anime? o.O I saw it once back when it was airing on Nicklodeon and thought it was just strange. It was even stranger than Spongebob Squarepants and it takes a lot to get that strange. Well, Songebob is nowhere near as strange as Ren and Stimpy, but still very bizarre.

SQUEE!! I want one! Though it does boggle the mind why it is considered anime, it's cool and styled like anime... but definity American (Nick toon, so produced and written in america and Jhonen Vasquez is an American last time I checked...)

I wouldn't care if it was licensed as a documentary. The important thing is that it's out! It's licensed as anime because apparently Anime Works was the only company willing to release it. Not to mention, anime means "cartoon," not just a japanese one. It's the American classification that has limited it to "japanese cartoon."

I'm writing this Sailor Moon/Green Lantern crossover AU fic called "Emerald Sunrise". It's a hybrid of Action/Adventure, Sci-Fi, Romance, and Comedy. It's about Ami (Sailor Mercury) getting a new boyfriend who just happens to be a member of The Green Lantern Corps. I'm also throwing in some other characters from other animes and some old Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the late '60's early '70's. I'm also illustrating it as well. Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.

IZ! can be found at your nearest Hot Topic.

Check out the director's commentary. And, eh, lack thereof. Sometimes, the guests making commentary will sit and eat nachos for a few minutes with the occasional outburst of "I hate this episode" or something similar.

I want it soooo much! Damn, and I was in Wal Mart today and everything! They probably don't have it yet anyway. A friend of mine called Hastings to see if it was in yet, and they said they had it on order but it wasn't in. It should be soon, tho. There will but MUCH buying of it soon.

Weird, I was just at my Wal Mart a few hours ago and they had a bunch of copies. Less that $15, had to pick it up. Also picked up Smallvill Season 2 for my housemate while I was there since I know he was looking for it. Gonna watch it soon, been waiting for this release for a while now.

Also, to clear up any confusion in how this is an "anime" release. Media Blasters, the studio behind Anime Works, is who picked up rights to distribute IZ on DVD. Since near all of their other releases are anime, it's easier to treat distribution as such as they are an anime company, not an american animation distribution company. At least that's my theory.

I went to Wal-mart today and they had it. I bought it wiht my graduation money. I can afford to lose $15 from my A-kon funds. I haven't watched it yet, but I'm actually getting ready to. I'll have to give my opinion on it later tonight or tomorrow.

I've been watching the DVDs all day and I'm wondering if anyone else has been having the mini-glitch I've been having. When watching through all the episode, when the DVD get's to a new episode half (two halves making a full episode OP to ED), very often the Irken subtitles will decide to turn themselves on even when I have them set to off and manually turn them off each time. Has anyone else had this problem?

Dan: I have, as well as the problem in which I can't get that dang little symbol in the upper right corner with the pic of the camera and a "1/2" beside it to go away.

I spent 30 minutes trying to make that thing go away. And succeeded only in turning my memory on, thus making a certain scene constantly repeat. >< Needless to say, I haven't gotten very far into the DVD yet.

I have a clear button on my remote, than clears all the menu stuff off the screen and such, so that thing wasn't too much of a problem for me. Any DVD with alternate angles has that thing with my DVD player. I just wish there was some way the Irken subs would just stay off though, since that's a lot more annoying having to turn them off every episode half. >.<

Volume 2: Progressive Stupidity is available as of 8/31. I have it, but I don't have the subtitle problem, so I'm not sure if it's cleared up or not (my Volume 1 didn't have the problem either).

The same friend who checked for volume one when it came out stopped by both Walmart and Hastings Wednesday, and neither place had them at the time. They probably have them by now, but I haven't been to either place. I'll probably go...this weekend. I'm gonna buy it! It'll take up space on my shelf! It'll be great! *hugs ZIM* Isn't the 3rd one gonna be out in October, too? Like, not very long between releases? I can't remember.

I found mine at Wal-mart on Saturday night. And I'm not sure about the third one. I haven't checked it's release date.

Oh, and I've watched about half, and haven't had any subtitle problems. However, I'm watching it on a computer, so that may be why. Here's hoping that they have it fixed, though.
