Realmedia Converters?

Post by Cardcaptor Takato » Thu May 13, 2004 10:31 am

I'd hate to start another topic so soon when it hasn't been that long since I posted the File Sharing Program thread, but this is something I'm searching for. Does anyone know of a free program that can be used to convert RealMedia files to either AVI or MPEG? I know there is some out there and I encountered one converter, but you had to pay money for it, which is something I don't have, so I'm looking for free ones. Any help would be much appreciated.

I wish you good luck on that, because programs like that are very few and far between with RM files practically a thing of the past. Also, I should point out that with the way RM files are compressed and encoded, you're not going to get any better quality a/v, just the same thing only with the MPG or AVI extension. If you're looking for a program to improve the quality of an RM to those extensions, just stop looking now since such a program is technically impossible for the reason stated above. If the fact that the a/v quality will remain the same as the RM file doesn't bother you, then go ahead and continue your search. I just wanted to let you know of that little technicality just in case you were looking to improve quality so you wouldn't waste your time looking for such a program.

I don't really care much about the quality of the file as long as I can watch it on my tv. ^^;; I actually found a program called Tinra and I'm using it now. I was able to convert the audio from rm to AVI, but not the video. Does anyone suggestions on how to fix this?

Edit: Never mind my question. I found another program to use to convert RM files. The program is EO Video and it was able to conver the files successfully and it's pretty easy, too. Thanks for wishing me good luck in my search, Dan-sama. It really came in handy. ^-^
