Anything and everything (outside of the stuff on the above forums) can be discussed here.

Why don't you tell that to the families of those hurt or killed in these accidents? I'd love to see their reaction when you tell them that their son or daughter's death really isn't that important. These things are terrible. I feel sadder hearing about bomb threats and such than hearing about most other things. These are children. I may not like children, but I defend them. No child deserves this kind of thing. No one in general deserves this kind of thing, and especially children. The way you can sit back and casually say that disgusts me.

More on topic, the closest we've ever had to a bomb threat at my school was a few years ago. There was this senior named Jason Gilbert, and a letter found its way to the principal that if Jason and any of his friends showed up at school on a certain day, they would be shot. So the principal told Jason that if he and his friends didn't come to school that day, they wouldn't be counted absent. Of course, many students who didn't even know Jason used that for a free day, but Jason and his friends actually came. They said that if anyone wanted to shoot them, then come out and do it now. It was really impressive. He remains to this day one of the bravest people I've ever met.

Jeez, sorry but the way I look at it is if you are stupid enough to join a gang you are just asking to be hurt. We just had yet another bomb threat here *humph* its like these kids are trying to make a record for the most threats.

I'm going to reply to this politely, unlike someone else on this board...

You do NOT want a bomb threat. Yeah, it may sound cool and all and you get to miss class, but believe me, it sucks balls. I remember we had 7 both in my softmore and junior year of HS, some of them were like 3 days in a row. When you have a bomb threat, they make you sit outside for 3 long hours in the hot sun because they have to call the bomb squad in to check every single nook and cranny in the school. It especially sucks when your school is huge. Our school, being as sucky as it is, decided that whenever we have a firedrill or a bombthreat that we were to go to an assigned area and sit in a single file line with our homeroom. We were not allowed to get up, we were not allowed to talk to our friends in any of our other classes, and they were very strict on sending people to use the bathroom. I remember 9th and 11th graders sat at the track whereas 10th and 12th graders sat on the baseball field. I remember having to sit on the baseball field for 3 hours or so really sucked, especially when there is still dew on it. The WORST part about bomb threats is that you have to make up the time lost during them, meaning that because of the bomb threats, for a week they would extend school by an hour, or if there was an upcoming holiday (usually a teacher holiday), they would use that day to make up for lost hours and make everyone come to school. And yeah, the threats are usually caused by stupid immature freshman who leave notes in the bathroom. I agree with whoever said our school system should be more like the Japanese one where you take enterance exams to get into HS, because I remember 30% of my class got held back during my freshman year, and it was the same for the freshman year the next year. Well I'm glad I'm out of high school, so I don't have to worry about any "crap" like bomb threats.
no, it's not that i would want to miss class, my reason is that i would like to feel the rush of danger as opposed to normal mundane life--nothing exciting ever happens, it would be a nice change of pace. as for sounding selfish, i really don't care about the rest of them anyway--does that sound more selfish? maybe, whatever.

There are many ways of generating excitement in your life without sitting and waiting for someone to do something mean, stupid, and illegal. If you feel the need to face danger, go play a contact sport or climb mountains or something.

Selfishness gets a bad rap, since all the truly selfish people don't go around forming groups to champion the cause. But there's good and bad selfishness. Saying, "I'm going to think what I believe and no matter how many people disagree with me I won't change my mind," is good. But saying you don't care about people so you can take advantage of their misfortunes is not. As a selfish person you don't owe anyone compassion or love or material things unless they earn it; you do owe them fairness and justice. Only by refusing to take the unearned as well as refusing to give it can the self be truly discrete.

Unfortunately, the situation that happens with gangs is that if you don't join one and you live on the turf, you are a target. Gangs offer potential members protection. Unfortunately, the gang sucks them in and they can't get out. It's not stupidity--it's survival.

Survival  how do you know that? Besides these "gangs" are nothing but wanna be's. Gangs are nothing but a bunch of kids trying to act tough but heck anyone can be tough when it is 5 on 1.

The fact of the matter is that these "gangs" end up killing innocent bystanders; it's really difficult - and quite irrelevant - to put a spin on whether or not these gangs are "wannabes" when their actions end up putting people completely unaffilliated in the hosptial or in a morgue.

When the hell did anyone bring up gangs in the first place? This was about bomb threats. Not gangs.

What I'm about to say is not speaking for Anthy, it is speaking for myself. What you have just said has really, really gotten me upset, and I will try my best to remain calm.

How do I know that? Becuase I have LIVED around these gangs. My brother nearly BELONGED to one. In 9th grade, I went to a school where kids carried knives and guns with them, and there was barbed wire around the school to keep gang members and drug dealers out. People were jumped every day, leaving sometimes in ambulances. There were drive-bys in the neighborhood. My brother ended up associating with the people he did TO SURVIVE. My life was threatend quite often, every week, at this school. Luckily, he got out while he still could, as did I.

Don't you dare assume anything about anybody in this forum. You don't know about their life experiences. True gangs are not just kids trying to act tough. They are much more than that, and they can be truly dangerous.

You have hit a very, very sore spot with me. Do not assume to know anything about anybody on this board again. EVER.

You want to see 6 guys beat up on one until his face is so bloody it's unrecognizable, and then call it nothing and "kidsj ust being tough"? Be my fucking guest. But I never want to see that again...Yes, AGAIN.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

i understand what he/she is saying. that person was describing gangs like the ones around here: wimps trying to look tough that don't actually do any harm. not to say all gangs are like that of course, if they were then things like what was described in the above post wouldn't happen.

I've been trying to figure that out as well. Minna, back on topic.

Sorry about that but I have lost to many friends due to violence *sigh*. As for bomb threats here is something that I did. Find out about the person who made the threat sometimes the threat was made because of a few people that would not stop picking on a person so to get what he/she thought was revenge he/she made the threat. Find out why the threat was made revenge or personal grudge. Try to find out if he/she is for real about the threat. And one that has helped out many people try to help the person coup with their anger even if it means becoming their friend I have come to find out that this is usally all they want is a friend. You can try this if you want but you don't have to. After all this is just something that I did, no biggy.

I had my first bomb threat. It was in high school last year and I was a freshman. During lunch, people called saying there was a bomb on campus and we had to evacuate to the baseball field. There was only 1 class left after lunch so we reported to our period 6 teachers. Unluckily, our teacher was assigned a station in the middle of the damn field and we had to suffer from major heat while we did nothing but sit. Then we heard the bell ring so we evacuated to period 6. But, then on the PA system, they said something and made us go all the way back to the baseball field and we sat there (lucky there was some shade this time because we had to sit under some trees on the side of the field) until the last bell rang. :x Good thing I didn't get sunburned.

Life experience and paper research. Back up your statements, or don't make any at all.

I've never had a bomb threat at my school, thank god.
