No, look back at attitudes towards sex, respect for others, and responsibility back then and today. Decades ago people saved sex for marriage (which has been proven to help a marriage last longer), people were more considerate of other people and were responsibile for the choices that they make. Now look at today's soceity... *SNIP*
What's to stop things we think are wrong and immoral today from becoming socially acceptable in twenty years?
Thank you. You said a lot of what I was trying to. Attitudes toward marriage and sex were FAR different...

The Pope has said no to civil unions. This is a long article from the Holy See, but it explains the Catholic Church's official stance on the matter:

I don't think that stance will change for a very long time.

I didn't mean it like that. I didn't know what religion he was (it was obviously a branch of Christianity). I was just wondering if he knew something about something the Catholic Church said.
I didn't want it to sound like "Oh you're (insert branch of Christianity), you don't know what we (Catholics) believe, but if you do answer my question." Sorry, I have a bad way with words ^^;.

Yeah, I think that all of the crap about homosexuals is just that... crap. It's just another stereotype (I'm a blonde, so I get stereotyped often), and I really don't see what say the government has in whom you marry.
“See this butt? Yeah. Look at it. LOOK AT MY BUTT. This is all you’re getting. MY BUTT to look at it. Yeah, bet you’re sorry now, aren’t you? You’d like to see my cute fuzzy face, wouldn’t you? But all you’re getting is the BUTT. LOOK AT IT. LOOK AT MY BUTT. Sucker.”
The thing is, Henrietta has—how can I put this? Kind of a big butt. If Henrietta were a celebrity? She’d be J-Lo.
Not that J-Lo has what I would call a big butt. But others have opined that this is so. I think J-Lo has a normal, healthy butt. As does Henrietta.

Well see, I'm divided on the issue. Upon really thinking, there needs to be government control. Without it, who's to say that a father marrying his son/daughter is acceptable? While yes, that is an extreme, it's still a possibility. And to say that I should be allowed to marry (though it's wrong in the eyes of many) would be hypocritical, because I don't think that incest is acceptable. So, I've decided to just go with the flow of things. If I ever feel that I'm ready and willing for marriage, I'll find a way. Or, I'll do like the millions of gay couples before me, and live without. Maybe that's being apathetic, but it's the best thing to do, IMO.

I also agree with that. Because if the government allows gay marriages, other types of marriages will eventually surface as well. Not only will incest marriages arise, but also mulitple marriages will arise as well. At the far extreme case, what if a hick on a farm somewhere decides that he wants to marry his chicken? I'm not trying to put words in other peoples mouths, but I think that we can all agree that it just isn't acceptable.

I'm in agreement as well.
think about it. If we lived in an ideal world, people would inherently know what's morally "right" and "wrong", and we wouldn't need government laws on anything, including marriage. But we DON'T live in that world. Instead, we live in a world with free will, and people are going to have extremely different views on what's acceptable and what isn't. So if Farmer Brown thinks it's okay to marry his chicken (Thanks, RoastedTwinkies XD), should he be able to? That's why we HAVE government. It's a very complex and hairy issue, and it simply cannot be solved by just saying "LEAVE THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF IT COMPLETELY!". So I agree with Parakisu. Go with the flow. Find a way to make your dreams come true however you can.

Well, I do recall that there was something involving a man and a chicken in Africa fairly recently. I'd have to dig up the thread at the snopes board to remember the rest.

Do not read this if you were offended by my last post above.
I remember reading about that too. A man was caught doing it with a chicken and he was so humiliated that he committed suicide before he could get arrested. The chicken he messed around with was then destroyed. Poor chicken. I bet the little guy was scarred for life before he got destroyed. That's just disgusting. I can't believe someone would do that for real.
there's a south park episode with that happening, and the guy loving the chickens is just trying to get a cop to read. XD
on-topic though..

I'm
pansexual.
(click that link if you don't know what the word means)
I've been through similar things bisexuals have been through (like "pick one gender!"). If you think people think that being attracted to the same sex is disgusting, you should hear some of the hatred I get for being attracted to people who do not fall under the traditional ideas of "male" and "female".

Ohh. That's the first time I've heard of pansexual. Though I can't relate to have liked a few of the pansexual qualifications, I do have a slight thing for transvestites. Perfectly straight guys who aren't afraid to wear cherry red lip-stick and eye-liner.
Howt. And no, that wasn't a joke. Oo; Which probably explains my attraction to Benton from CyberCity Oedo and Eddie Izzard.
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

You're not alone Tempest, I do to ~_^. Although I prefer straight guys who don't look like freaks when they crossdress (by freaks I mean wearing clothes, wigs [God I hate wigs -_-], and/or makeup that does NOT suit them). Also I prefer them to be all natural. You know, no surgery or implants :shivers:
O/T Tempest, is it me, or is it hard to find straight crossdressers T_T O/t

Do metrosexuals count? I like straight guys who actually put time into their appearance. I hate the whole macho thing that most guys do. I absoutely hate it when guys wear those big shirts and those super baggy pants that they wear low on their waist to show off their boxers. It's a huge turn off for me. I do love it when guys wear nice, preppy clothes that actually fit them, and show off their physique a little bit.

That would make you heterosexual. Being a metrosexual doesn't have anything to do with a guy's sexuality. It's called that because most people think that any guy who takes the time to groom himself is gay. It's just an aggravating stereotype.
