E-mail you wish you'd never sent
Have you ever had an e-mail you wished you could just take back the second after you've sent it? Well, that's how I feel write now. I spent all morning and afternoon writting a long e-mail. It was so stupid and repetetive. I saved it as a draft, and then later edited the draft, wrote a lot more, and deleted the stupid parts. For years I had saved thigns as drafts, edited them and sent them. The thing is, it's only today that I realized that when you edit drafts they are not sent with the edited part, only the part you saved. I just realized that today. All these years I had saved stupid things into drafts, thene dited them and sent them. Now I realized I'd sent them stupid things. Well, today I e-mailed someone. They ahve a lot of power. They often psot e-mails they get on message baords, edit them to make them look stupid, and depict them piece by peace. THe edited e-mail was good, but the one I saved in the draft was bad. When I sent the draft, I thought I had sent the good edited e-mail, but realzied I'd sent the stupid, poorly worded, repetetive e-mail to this person who will ridicule it. It was v ery long. Think that's bad enough? I stupidly send another e-mail to them, saying that, and exaggeratting, that the e-mail I meant to send was 30 paragraphs. The second after I sent thos e-mails, I freaked out. I wanted to take them back. Now I can't conceentrate ona nything else. All I can think about is them ridiculing me on message baords, editing my message, making it look stupid, and depicting it piece by pice in front of everyone. I tried watching fansubs to get it off my mind, but I couldn't. Moral of the story: Never send e-mail. Ever. Just kidding. E-mail should have an option to delete it within a few hours of sending it. Seriously. The story is a lot worse then it sounds. The reason I set the e-mail, and the actual e-mail itself, is the worst part. Ack! How do I deal with this? THis happened so many times. Why does this always happen to me? Share you're "I regret sending that e-mail..." stories here. Every second I'm shaking. Eek! I'm so worried.

I think the main thing to remember is Don't Panic. It's only the Internet, and as long as you're not sending the e-mail to your boss or a family member, which it doesn't sound like you are, realize that the worst thing that can happen is you get chastised by people you'll never see face-to-face.
Also, Sailor, from reading your posts on this board, I think it's safe to say that you can be a little, for lack of a better word, impulsive. Which is not necessarily bad, but if it leads to things like e-mails you wish you hadn't sent then you need to try to gain focus and control. I for one respect that kind of attitude; we need more effervecent people like you around. But you need to choose--whether being the way you are is wort a few shakes and worries.

When I was in tenth grade I sent as a joke a really stupid email to my french teacher. I was on AOL at the time and I didn't realize that you couldn't "unsend" a message when it's not sent to another AOL member. I really felt bad and stupid when I got in trouble for sending that. Check the Most Embarrasing thread to learn what the content of that email was. I don't wanna discuss it lol...
Sailor Moon: I agree with Asteroid. Unless it's someone you know personally I wouldn't worry about it so much. Just out of curiosity, what did the e-mail say that you're so worried? Did you badly insult the recievee? And yes. People at message boards (mods and admins) have the power to edit posts etc. I don't see why you're so scared.

Oh, an AIM horror story I also have. This happened many years ago. I was young, and went to a sumemr day camp. Hey, I said I was young. I was in a crappy mood. Someone asked me to share their opinions on some people, I asked if the people were write their and going to see it, and they sayed no. I constantly asked them if they were going to show it to anyone, they said, no of course not. I needed someone to rant to, so the idiotic me, sends my opinions, and the next day, they edit out their entire part of the IM, and their so stupid, they copied and pasted it to Microsoft word, so it didn't even look like a converstaion. Of course, they showed it to everyone. Then one of the counselers, hey I was young I said, grabbed it, and I begged and cried (I told you I was a crybaby), but they shwoed it to the head of camp. The camp administrators, or whatever they're called, called up my parents, and I got in trouble (oopssssiees). Then, they sent a copy of the e-mail to both my parents in the mail. Why not show it to everyone, idiot? Of course, while now I try not to curse, and am sweet as candy, back then I used the word whores in my message to describe someone. Hey, this was like many years ago, I would never curse like that now, but I did then, since I was imamture and whiner, I still ahve a whiny personality though. So of course, the administration, my parents, and everyone saw the e-mail. But, waht they don't know, if that it was copy and pasted to word. Microsoft word. Anyone and their mom can write stuff on word. It wasn't even put in AIM font. It wasn't even highlighted. It was Times New Roman font for Godssakes. So, the administators of the camp call me in, and asked if I sent an "e-mail" to someone. I could have said no and being telling the truth, it was an AIM message afte rbeing threatened and provoked,a nd they said soem pretty and stuff, and told me to say it, but I don't want to get this person in trouble, and I like being noble and taking the blame for situations other people did. I also could have lied, since it was friken pasted to Microsoft freakin word, for godssakes. It was in a font you use for writting. I said yes. They said they like my honesty. So of course I was very sweet, and they asked me how I could write such horrific stuff, and they're nto sure if I should be in this camp. Okay, I was dumb, the innocent little me caleld people whores because they were totally mean to me and made me look idiotic, plus they probably are whores, but of coruse they don't get int rouble, or that person, since I'm so noble and hoenst. Then he tells me that me that someone who also goes to the camp, protected me, and spent the time to tell him I was framed, and that was all he said. Now I break down crying. I am just speechless. Anyway, the real people to blame didn't get in trouble, of course, and I got the blame for the AIM thing. of course, their have been tons fo situations wehere I was blamed for what other people amde up, lied, and got me in trouble for absolutely nothing, and they were believed over me, and of course they got away with it, and they enver got any negative karma. Of course, with the guy who made got me in trouble with AIM, this was not the case. I forget exactly what he did, but he did soemthing stupid, and got int rouble for it. But other people who have made up stuff about me, and got me int rouble got no negative karma. But I'm just so nice, I never said anything. Anyway, this isn't an aother things horror story, this is an AIM horror story. I never went back to that camp again. That memory still plagues me. Their are many other times people made up stuff about me, and of course I didn't do anything. This was still at different day camps. Geez, day camps seem to only cause trouble. But I hate it how at other cmaps I got in trouble for stuff other people made up about me, because I was too nice to say anything. But yeah, that's my AIM horror story.

No offense but whatever happens on AIM is pretty meaningless.. It seems that you take everything so seriously. When people do that try to ignore it unless they threaten your life of something. Also for the sake of others: please don't make such long and detailed posts. I don't think everyone is going to take the time to read it.
Again, no offense intended.

I met my boyfriend on AIM. We've been together five years. Is that meaningless? Some of the best friends I've ever had are online, and I talk to them over AIM and nothing else.Miyamoto wrote:*snip*Sailor Moon wrote:Oh, an AIM horror story I also have...

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.
