I had a really bad experience with my cell phone one day. The day my phone stayed on silent mode forever O_o I guess I will share ^_^

In 8th grade, I had the old school nokia phone, which couldn't do the vibrate mode. I never got calls so I was too lazy to put it on silent. It was the last period of the day on a Friday, and we were doing a lab in Science. All of a sudden, the room went dead silent (somehow this happens when evil is afoot O_o like SpiderSenses) and my phone begins to ring. I freaked out (I get freak out too easily) and quickly clicked the cancel button to stop the ringing. Of course the teacher heard, and I gradually went below my desk. I eventually confessed, and my teacher took my phone.

Problem was, the phone was still on. So the phone begins to ring again O_o and it does this 3 different times. Teacher says "If it rings one more time, see me after class". "Like I have some sort of power to stop the caller when you put my phone in your desk, locked up!" <- Mental reply only :P. And it does ring again -_- So embarrasing. My face, apparantly, was bright red.

So I see him after class, says I should get a phone that can vibrate. I leave the class, 10 minutes after school gets out, and these girls come up and say "Did Mr. Addair take your phone?" Me (wondering how they found out): "Yeah, it rang too much" "Is it true that he chucked your phone across the room?" "....nooo."

Strange how rumors start O_O

After that year, in 9th grade, my phone would vibrate, and I would freak out like some sort of reflex. It scares me at times >_> <_<

Phones should be kept on silent all the time unless you are expecting an important call like for a job or something. Other than that, put it in a place between soft cusions in your backpack or purse.

I find driving while talking on a cell is dangerous. Mainly because always talks on it while she's driving. She'll be driving and her phone rings. She talks. She hangs up. She gets another call.

Due to my mom's work, she is always getting phone calls. Of course, it pisses me off when we go some where to have fun or hang out and *RINNNG!!!* *RINGGG!!!*

I'll talk to my mom about something, and surely enough...*RING!!!*

God...

But I've found something worse than a cell phone on a car...

A cell phone on a COACH. Was from Amsterdam, then went to Brussels (I went on the coach from Brussels) and was going to Paris. The DRIVER had a cell phone, and he answered to it!

@_@;; *when asking one of the travellers what it was about it appeared the driver had excellent reasons to do that, but still, soooooo dangerous o.O*

The phrase 'dead ringer' refers to someone who sits behind Chuck Norris in a movie theater and forgets to turn their cell phone off.

Cell phones wouldn't be a problem if people would just show some common courtesy. I think cell phones should be banned in high schools. What reason do they need a cell phone? Haveing a cell phone go off while at the theater, church (!), class, or in the resteraunt with someone is just unspeakably rude and thier is no excuse for it.
Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you''ve got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception.

I've worked at CVS/Pharmacy for over 3 years now, and I've got to say that my #1 annoyance is when people are on the phone as I'm ringing them up, and they don't even pause to acknowledge my existance. I'll try and ask them something, or tell them their total, and it takes them forever to respond to me and even longer to find their money, and then they get ticked off at -me- for repeating things because they didn't respond the first time.

Also fun when the person gives me a dirty look and then speaks in another language to the person on the phone. Like I can't tell that they're suddenly talking about me. I'm sorry my ringing you up is such an inconvenience to you. Next time I'll just sit in the photo lab chair and you can work the stupid computer yourself.

*cough* I just had to ring for 6 hours straight tonight because the other girl went home sick... n_n;

At the EBGames I used to work out, the Subway next door had a sign saying something to the effect of "Due to respect for all custmoers, if you are talking on a cell phone we will kindly wait until you are finished with your conversation to serve you" :D

I guess I don't fit in to well...

I don't like ti when people don't answer their phones.

It think it's rude. What if it's an emergency? What if that person needs assistance? What if that person just got beat up by their boyfriend (girlfriend?)? And then they have the nerve to tell you when they do talk to you "I just didn't feel like talking..."

Well what the fuck? I broke my arm and you ddin't feel like talking?

Yah... Anyway, that's my beef. Cells at school don't bother me in particular because we're not allowed to speak in the halls during passing period anyway so... the teachers and staff brought that one on themselves. (No offense to the teachers but... really?)

EDIT: Alos, I don't think it is rude for your cell to go off at a public place. You have no control over that. What I do find rude is when the person talks to them about inimprotant details. I make sure everytime I'm caught at a bad moment to assure the person calling that I will call them once I'm free (unless it's an emergency). Some things just can't be helped.

Depends on the public place. If I'm in Wal-mart, and my cell goes off while i'm shopping, then sure i'll answer it no problem. If i'm in a movie theater, or in a restuarant, my phone goes off, no questions asked. It's very rude to babble away on your loud-ass-ringtone phone while people are trying to enjoy a nice dinner out. That can easily be helped. And if you want to keep your phone on? Put it on vibrate, and if you feel it, excuse yourself from the table and go outside.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

A lot of cellular phones have caller ID, and while that's good for telling what might be important, it is its own ethical issue. I don't like the person knowing that I'm home automatically--what if I want to lie and say I can't see them right now because I'm away?

Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

I think your misunderstanding peoples' post. People don't mind cell phones going off, just when they go off in certain places. If you expect thier to be an emergency: put it on vibrate. Someone mentioned purse, in which case the person should take the phone out of the purse and keep it on the person. Thier is no reason I should hear a phone go off in church, a theater, class, or when your in the resteraunt with someone. You can handle an emergency without being rude.

Panda wrote:What if that person just got beat up by their boyfriend (girlfriend?)? And then they have the nerve to tell you when they do talk to you "I just didn't feel like talking..."
If the person just got beaten up why the hell are they calling me? What in the world do they expect me to do about it? They should calling the police and the hospital.
Panda wrote:Well what the fuck? I broke my arm and you ddin't feel like talking?
Again, what the hell am I going to do about your broken arm? If you broke your arm, call a doctor. If you want to tell me the story about how you broke your arm, it can wait when I am not at church, a theater, in a resteraunt with someone, or at class. The problem with most phone calls is that they aren't emergencys and the call can wait.

I'm assuming Panda meant that he would be calling the other person for a ride to the hospital or something. If not, then I agree 100%.

Also, there's a wonderful invention called voicemail. You can leave a message on voicemail, and the person can get their voicemail and see if it's an emergency or not.

Well...I just hate when my one (former) friend calls me on the phone (on my house, I don't have a cell) over and over and OVER again! I mean, if I don't answer, you'd think she'd take a hint and think maybe I'm unavailable at the moment and she'd leave a message? But nooo, she's so bored that she has to keep calling one right after the other. When I finally answer in a firm tone, "Hello?" She's all, "Hey there, girlfriend! Bout time you answered! I've been trying to reach you all day! I need to tell you that I got a new stereo! [or some other pointless shit] OMG!"
 You fricken bug the hell out of me and my family all fucking day to tell me THAT!?! There is nothing more annoying than someone who does that when it's not an emergency. And can't bother to leave a message. And knows damn well that this is a house phone and have no fucking consideration for other people in the house (like those who have to sleep during the day cuz they work at night).

OK.....that was probably a little off-topic, but I had to rant. ^___^U And I think everyone else has taken the problems of cell phone usage.

Okay, you guys are all missing my point here...

Tell me, would you not want to know if a close friend or even a relative is in danger? Yes, call the damn police but call your amily and friends to. I'm saying, if something were to happen, and it has been taken care of by some random authority figure, than wouldn't you want to know about it to?

For example, my sister was in a car wreck the other day, she did her thing, called the cops, and then called her family for a ride home. Now what would have happened if I was eating out and I simply didn't want to talk to my sister? It would create a completely avoidable mess.

I find it just as annoying as the next person to overhear a phone conversation so I do agree that vibrating is the way to go (Oh my...). I never opposed that so I apologize for not getting my opinion completely across the first time.

-----------------

Also, I figure if someone is calling you non-stop, why not just answer and say "Hey dude, I'm busy but I'll call you back as soon as I can."

I mean, if they're calling you like crazy something's up. DOn't ever just let the phone ring when you hear it. It's fucking rude.
