That old Zelda show
Has anyone ever seen that old Zelda show that used to be on that only lasted 13 episodes? I downloaded a few and I can honestly say they were...disturbing. Link is always telling Zelda "EXCUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSE me, Princess!" He tries to save her, and they're always arguing about everything.
Some of the only proof we get that they even like each other is the episode where Ganondorf stole Link's soul and the only reason Zelda could see him was because "she loved him."
I always sorta thought they had a better relationship than that. What do you guys think?

I heard a rumor somewhere that Link and Zelda were brother and sister...but of course, that's just a rumor.
That would be disturbing, especially with what you said happened in the old show. (I've never seen it.)

Yes, I remember this show when it aired back in the '80's. I used to love it. I even downloaded most of the episodes. I know it only lasted 13 episodes, but for some reason, it seems like there were more "back in the day."
I even used to make construction-paper Link hats and swords. I even remember once making a Ganon mask. Tell me I wasn't obsessed....

I loved the Legend of Zelda cartoon! It was one of my favorites growing up as a kid. I remember that WGN used to air it every Friday afternoon even if I had already seen the episode before! I wish I had taped the episodes when they were on, but luckly I found a bunch of 'em for download and can watch them whenever I want on tv. *patpats his VCDs* My favorite episode is the one where Ganon captures Princess Zelda again and creates an evil version of Zelda to try and trick Link.

I never really liked the Zelda cartoons. The animation and art are realy poor even for DiC standards, and I just didn't think it was funny or entertaining (and I found Link to be absolutely obnoxious). I don't know why, but I always liked the Mario cartoons on Monday through Thursdays better.
The again, maybe I'm just baised towards Mario, since I NEVER played the Zelda games when I was a kid

I found both Zelda and Link extremely obnoxious. It strongly reminded me of the Toonmakers Sailor Moon cartoon trailer. That's a bad thing.
Navi (Was it Navi? I haven't been able to download them in a while, and I can't quite bring myself to watch my old episodes) was OK, but I didn't like her voice much.
But the episode that Link turns into the frog.....comedic gold to me. I tend to be heartless with characters of cartoons I dislike...heh I almost fell over laughing.

Well I'm not sure (Is not downloading it due to lack of computer space) but it's a 13 episode series. The characters, to me, are barely recognizable except for their clothes. The end of the to each episode (It's the same for every one) goes like this:
*Zelda falls into the river*
Zelda: Thanks a lot, HERO.
Link: Well EXCYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE me, Princess!

Yep, that's the one. I've downloaded a bunch of the episodes from Kazaa and have 'em burned on VCDs. ^-^

Man oh man that show was cheeeeeeeeeeesy! I think it's just as bad as DiC(k)'s job of SM... I think it should have been redone to make it more anime-ish. That would rule! I also think that it and the KIRBY! RIGHT BACK AT YA! show are even... They both suck. *raises fist to the stupid dubbing companies* What do you guys think of that?

I honestly didn't think the Kirby dub is bad, but that's getting off topic, and there's already a thread for that.Miyamoto wrote:Man oh man that show was cheeeeeeeeeeesy! As far as the Zelda show goes, it's actually pretty amusing if you're in the right mood and are able to get a hold of a high-quality version. The only characters that really got on my nerves were Link, Zelda, and Gannon. Spryte was okay I suppose, but she wasn't exactly my *favorite*. I think they made Zelda too sarcastic-storybook-princess. I imagined her kind, and also ready to do battle. Not a sarcastic PMSy maniac who can't use a sword beam to save her life.

I can remember Link's famous quote from the series:
"Well, EXCUSE me, Princess!"
"Well, EXCUSE me, Princess!"
"After all these years, you know it's not about control. It's about trying to do everything I can. And for you, it's about setting an example. Everyone looks up to you. They listen to you. If you tell them to fight, they'll fight. But they need to be inspired, and let's face it, 'Superman'...the last time you really inspired anyone... was when you were dead." -- Batman, to Superman, Infinite Crisis, issue 1
That one ties with me for "Me, a princess? This is way past wierd!"DuoTheShinigami02 wrote:I can remember Link's famous quote from the series:

While it's okay sometimes, they completely overused it. They used it about four times and episode, NOT counting the introduction.
The first episode...didn't seem like a first episode. It seemed to just *start*. I hate shows that do that, even zelda veterans need a heads-up where this show is picking up!

What about their appearances in Captain N?
I recently downloaded a clip that showed, after reclaiming the three Triforces, Zelda regained her power and opened a can of whoopass on King Hippo and Eggplant Wizard.
Just joking about the whoopass part, but she did banish them.

Captain N? Wazzat? Can someone please tell me what that was, and if it related to this Zelda show, and if the art style was the same? (And where I could download it if a site hosts it?)DuoTheShinigami02 wrote:What about their appearances in Captain N?

Thank you DuoTheShinigami02 for mentioning Captain N: the Game Master. It was a show that dealt with a high school boy who got sucked into the game world and went from game to game trying to get home. I don't remember too much of the plot line, but he was accompanied by Game Boy, Princess Lana, Kid Iccarus, Mega Man and the ever self absorbed Simon Belmont from Castlevania. (the man was in love with his appearance....even carried a mirror and comb) Every Nintento game at that time was visited on the show. Legend of Zelda was on it a couple times.
Ok, getting back to the topic. At first I wasn't a huge fan of Zelda either, but after seeing a couple episodes, it kind of grew on me. I've never been a fan of Zelda's snobbiness. She's way too stuck up and Link has proven time and time again that he's always gonna be there for her. Like the time that some stuck up prince came to Hyrule and Zelda fell for him and Link kept trying to impress her, but the minute she was in danger the prince bailed out because it was ruining his clothes and he hated fighting. Link saved the day.
I'll admit it wasn't a perfect relationship (if any), but it did show plenty of hints. Even fighting together can sometimes show it. (Look at Rumiko's series and short stories. People in love are always fighting about something)
I still love the show and hope to see it again soon. And on a side note, the only zelda games I ever played were on the old nintendo.

That aforemontioned event took place in the episode "Having a Ball".
And the clip is here:

*Looks back at old .rm clip* Yeah, that's the one.
Where's a spot that I can download this? I lost the link to my download site. (I only downloaded 1, 2, 3, & 6) All I remember about my old distro was that it had high & low quality options.
