Hanson will return!! ---> UPDATE
For the record, Hanson have officially shot the music video for their next single, Penny and Me last week. Screenshots have been released in the news section of www.hanson.net. The video had been exactly as I had imagined because of the following lyrics:
Cos Penny and me like to roll the windows down
Turn the radio up; push the pedal to the ground
And Penny and me like to gaze at starry skies
Close our eyes, pretend to fly
Close our eyes, pretend to fly
It’s always Penny and me tonight
Based on those lyrics, I had imagined them driving down a highway in a vintage car from the 1960s, with the girl named Penny. I had imagined the girl with blonde hair (any length) wearing one of those ringer shirts and having a very laid back personality. How does it turn out? They got a girl named Samaire Armstrong from the O.C. to play "Penny". I was quite suprised and I figured immediately that Hanson picked her because she's from a popular TV show. As another user simply put it, "Samaire Armstrong + new music video = Hanson are popular again". Quite frankly, I can't blame them because they have lost a lot of fans over the years because of their "teeny bopper" image from 1997.
People just can't seem to get past that and then even now, they still write Hanson off as a "teeny bopper" group. It bothers be a lot because people still say that they are just a spur of the moment, manufactured band that will only last a year, when the fact is that Hanson have been together for over ten years, let alone the fact that they have been a part of today's modern music scene for the past seven years. Even in the beginning, people didn't think much of the MMMBop video. People couldn't get past the fun scenes and they failed to notice that Hanson were actually playing their own instruments in their living room. From the moment I saw the MMMBop video, I knew Hanson were going to be around for a long time. We're closing in on a decade of Hanson in today's music scene and there is no doubt in my mind that they are going to be around for another thirty years. The reason for that is Hanson have their own record company now called 3CG Records, named after their first recording studio, their three car garage in Tulsa. Hanson were basically screwed over by Island Records, so they left the company, which is why the album has been delayed for so long.
As far as the actual video goes, from what was mentioned on the website is that Hanson are not really intended to be in the video. The video is about Penny listening to Hanson's music and Hanson are just there to enhance the feeling of the video. They never actually interact with Penny and their pictures are shot seperately from Penny most of the time. I think this is much more original than most videos. Most videos, it's just like, girl meets boy, they kiss, the end. Really lame and boring.
I'm not going to pressure anyone, but I'm just hoping that people will give the guys another chance because their music is incredible and people have no idea what they're missing out on.
Underneath will be released in Japan on March 17 and on April 20 in the United States. I will probably pre-order the Japanese release.
Please give me your thoughts on this.

I agree.Even though most people think Hanson isn't worth it anymore,I still like them.Every now and then,I'll pop in their 1996(?) CD 'Middle of Nowhere' and listen to wonderful songs such as ,'Thinking Of You','Weird','Yearbook',and 'Look At You'.I mean, they're awesome.I kinda miss the good ol' days where fangirls everywhere would go positively wild over them, and 'MMMBop' was practically all that would ever play on the radio.Of course,I miss the 1990's as a whole, anyway.

My sister used to be obessesive with Hanson. She bought all their cds, posters, and even went to go see them live once. She's not so obessesive with them anymre, as she's not obsessive with "boy bands" and pop music in general anymore. I'm sure she'll buy the new album when it comes out though, since she bought the previous album they released. I never cared much for them as I'm not too much into music, but MMMbop was kind of a fun song. It was interesting to hear everyone around me try to figure out the lyrics of the song back when MMMbop was popular. ^^;;

You want my thoughts? I highly disagree. I think Hanson has little to no talent whatsoever, except for the fact that they have a good range. Other than that...their music makes me want to hurt things. It's annoying, and it does absolutely NOTHING for me.'m not going to pressure anyone, but I'm just hoping that people will give the guys another chance because their music is incredible and people have no idea what they're missing out on.

Here's the diff between Hanson and any boy band (BSB, N-Sync, etc.):
1. They write their own music
2. They play their own instruments
3. They're straight-up rock and rollers!
However, I have to admit that I used to hate them when they came out, but focusing my hatred towards BSB and N-Sync, I have forgotten about them.

Thank you! If you wanna see no talent, just look at O-Town! Liquid dreams = wet dreams. I don't know why they just couldn't say that flat out. hahahahDuoTheShinigami02 wrote:Here's the diff between Hanson and any boy band (BSB, N-Sync, etc.):

That is NOT what I consider Rock and Roll. Give me Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd for that.RoastedTwinkies wrote: 3. They're straight-up rock and rollers!

After finding out Hanson was a "Boy" band, I could never look at or listen to them again.
That, and their "M-bop", or whatever that song was called, made me go completly insane. O_o I was just the same thing...over, and over, and over, until I couldn't take it anymore!
The only time I ever saw them was when they were on SNL, and they were making fun of them and that "M-bop" song. It was great!
I'm suprised they didn't dissapear like most boy bands eventually do.

*sweatdrop* good point, buuuttt.. you did not specify why you find the music annoying. Yes, their music from 1997 was strictly pop, but now their music is DEFINATELY rock. Have you heard any of their new stuff yet? Their new stuff is very much inspired by Cheap Trick and REM and stuff like that. Previously, my friends didn't like Hanson because all they initally wrote were love songs. If you can back your opinion up like my friends have, I'll respect that.

Hanson aggravates me. Very, very, very much so. Their songs were just..... stupid. They made no sense. They were just filled with stupidity. But, that's just my opinion. I have a few friends who are obsessed with them (and I do mean obsessed), but they just never did anything for me. I didn't like them when they first came out, and I don't like them now.

Okay, I shall "back it up"
1) The song lyrics are just plain stupid to me. As Parakiss said, I see no substance in their lyrics, and they do nothing for me. They don't touch me.
2) Their voices aggravate me. They sound like whiny little children attempting to sing.
3) They all sound alike, with exception to maybe the oldest one, who sounds just a tad deeper than the others.
Does that help?

Yes, thank you. I'll admit, I don't like their older stuff nearly as much anymore. I can't remember the last time I actually listened to their debut album. Now that's it's been a few years, I can see why people hated MMMbop. buuut.. as you will eventually see, the brothers have grown up quite nicely and their voices are nice and low too. I can barely recognize Zac's (who was the little hyper drummer) voice anymore. If you could believe it, Taylor (the middle one) has been married for almost twp years and got his wife Natalie, pregnant five months before they got married. The rumors say that his parents were already preparing the wedding before he actually proposed. All the enertainment shows were making fun of him when the news came out. I don't understand why though, because at least Tay did the honourable thing and accepted his new responsibilies instead of running away like most men do these days.

....I don't see how that has to do with his musical abilities. So he married her after he knocked her up. I completely agree. I never liked Hanson either. Well the only "boy band" i was ever crazy about was Backstreet Boys... (I don't count B2K since I just think they're cute. ^^; )Tiff wrote:You want my thoughts? I highly disagree. Hanson sucks. I am sorry, but they just do. I don't know why I hate their music so much, really. I always have. Especially that M Bop thingey. I'll just stick to my Evanescence, Linkin Park, and Weird Al, thank you very much.

UPDATE
I just thought I'd mention, Penny and Me is now available to listen to on the main page at www.hanson.net. Click to open the e-card to hear the preview. Please do not judge them based on Hanson's image from 1997 when they had high, squeaky voices. Tell me what you think of the new music that is out now. Thanks.
Maybe I'll give their new stuff a shot. Like I said, I actually think they're great, and while I can understand people being annoyed by their old pop/light rock music, what about their slow songs ("Weird" and "Yearbook" come to mind, as previously stated)? Those are far superior, in my humble opinion (not that I'm calling their pop songs crap, but still...).
Eh...maybe those, too? I dunno...
