1) This is much too broad a topic. What do you mean, anime fanfiction? X-Men fanfiction? Diet Coke/Sprite erotic slash fanfiction? What?

2) When you ask, "Who here likes FanFics?" someone could give a two word answer and be done. This topic neither encourages discussion nor has any potential for it. Most people in the SM community enjoy a little fanfiction here and there. A better topic would be similar to the one in another section about using Japanese phrases in anime fanfiction. Do you get what I'm saying?

Please be more specific.

I read and write various genres of fanfictions. Anywhere from serious, funny, romantic and light hentai/adult. I do take alot of pride in my work, even though I need to go back and fix my grammatical errors. It will always be my favorite form of expression.
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

it's really hard for me to get into a fanfic, mainly becuase most of them suck, IMO. I cannot stand crossover unless they're REALLY REALLY well-written and thought-out, and I can't stand when people write about a character, but the character is completely different from how she/he is in the show, and all they did was keep his/her name. I do read hentai fics, mostly out of sheer amusement, becuase most of those are so ridiculous they crack me up or make me cringe in disgust. It just seems to me any idiot can go to a computer and write some shit about Serena meeting her long-lost sister whose in love with Darien, but Minako loves Serena's sister becuase suddenly, Minko's a lesbian. But look out! Here comes Queen Fucktard, whose main mission in life is, for some unnamed reason, destroy the world. It really gives a bad rap to decent writers, like Tempy.

But as for the ones I DO like: two of my favorites are "Sailor Nothing" by Stefan Gagne and some Slayers fanfic...damn,I forgot the name. "Sailor Nothing" is about a girl who becomes the next senshi, but this in no way shows the other senshi...from what I can remember, this is after the senshis' existance (probably after the end of Stars)...she's a senshi called Sailor Salvation,a nd she absolutely hates being so. She hates the fuku, she hates the abnormal life, and she hates her trainer, someone named Magnificent Kamen (there are a LOT of parodies in this, his name being one of them *snicker), whose a real ass. It's quite good, and fun to read.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I don't really read fanfics that much because when I read something like a story, I have to read it in silent so I can take everything completely in and figure out what's going on. Since the computer is in the living room, people (mostly my family) come walking through all the time and can be quite distracting. The only time it's really silent in the living room is in the mornings before everyone is up. I know there's alot of good fanfics out there, but I also don't really know where to find them. I guess you could also just say I'm too lazy.

I have written some fanfics in the past, but I don't think they were too great. I need to learn how to write more proffessionally and maybe learn a few more words here and there so it isn't so dull and boring to read. I have read a few good fanfics here and there. One of my favorites is this one Cardcaptor Sakura fic called "Kero-chan's Newlywed's Contest" or something like that. It just had me laughing my head off the entire time. I also really loved Firebird's series of Digimon fanfics at fanfiction.net.

I used to be into fanfics, but now I can't stand them. Most fanfics nowadays are "what-ifs" made mostly by teenage girls and boys who barely understand the anime/manga they're writing about, with a few exceptions here and there. In fact, that's why I got out of the fanfic business in the first place. I myself was writing a horrid Sailormoon/Pokemon crossover (based off the dubs of both shows, mind you), and I never explained anything, such as:

-How did Ash know about the Sailor Scouts?
-Why do Serena and Misty hate each other so much?
-Why did I give James a little brother?
-Why did I make Pikachu human and a make him become a Tuxedo Mask clone?
-Why was Sailor Mars fighting Muppets?

And many, many more questions. To date, I've only had one or two fanfics I was proud of, and only one of them was a crossover: one involving Kigurashi Sota from Inuyasha being taken care of by Hino Rei (he mistook her for Kagome, much like I did back then). You can find it on fanfiction.net under the author pen-name "Tailspower5".

I love romantic fanfics and I love MSTs where an entire cast of one video game gets together to play another video game and they joke around and riff on every line. I love romantic fanfics that are sweet.

I love Mamoru/Usagi fics. Usagi/Mamoru fics are my favorite because Mamoru and Usagi are my favorite couple.

It seems like Serena and Misty would be best friends if they met. I don't know how someone could make them rivals in a fanfic. Usagi and Kasumi would get along very well.

I'm not fond of fanfiction at all, mainly because I've found that most authors (notice I don't say all, and this is pure opinion anyway) lose sight of the characters' original voices in favor of their own interpretations of them. That annoys the living daylights out of me, therefore I don't read fanfiction.

I'm with Jen...I don't read fanfiction much, except for when friends show me some of their own and ask me to read/criticize it. I've come across far too many Mary Sues and horribly written crossovers for me to really get into this aspect of fan culture, unfortunately ^^;;

*nods* that's pretty much why I don't read them..I cannot stand whena character is altered so much that you can't even relate to that character anymore

I like to read Sailor Moon fan fiction, but I never really read much written for any other show besides a few Inuyahsa fics here and there. And for some reason, almost all Inuyahsa fics I find are Hentai… really bad Hentai. o_0;;;

For the most part I like stories with detailed plots, lots of twists and turns with some well written action scenes (very hard to find) sprinkled in. That, or completely insane parody/comedy fics, but it's hard to find the really good ones out of the crap. That's why I like to read MiST's, because you have a piece of crap-fiction getting some fun poked at it! *poke poke*

My absolute favorite serious fic is "Secrets" by Ken Wolfe. It's kind of dark for a Sailor Moon fiction but it is so well written that it actually works without making the characters too unbelievably angsty for no reason. (I hate when writers do that.)

I've read a few well-written fanfics, but I've also read a number of poorly written fanfics as well. "Usagi In Starfleet" is one of the well written ones, as well as "The Princess who fell to Earth". :)
"Oh yeah. Someone is definitely tired of breathing." ("The Main Man", Part 1)

I'm writing this Sailor Moon/Green Lantern crossover AU fic called "Emerald Sunrise". It's a hybrid of Action/Adventure, Sci-Fi, Romance, and Comedy. It's about Ami (Sailor Mercury) getting a new boyfriend who just happens to be a member of The Green Lantern Corps. I'm also throwing in some other characters from other animes and some old Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the late '60's early '70's. I'm also illustrating it as well. Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.

I'm a big fan of Harry Potter fanfiction. I write stories on death-curse.com in the humor section. There are some really awesome stories there. I like crossovers between Harry Potter and LOTR-they're interesting.
Actually, my siggy is from a fanfic from that site...it's called "Lord of the Pig" by erm if you want to read it. No, I didn't write it, so it isn't self promotion. My pen name is Galadriel.

Same here! I love romantic fanfics too! But, I must agree with Tiffu; most fanfics are complete garbage because of the alterations of the characters we know and love.

I've written a fair number of fanfics, but most aren't that good. I'm planning an Inuyasha fanfic that shows some promise, though. Haven't started it yet...

I've never written any fanfics myself (well, apart from about one or two crossovers), but I've read some good ones and some bad ones. All other fiction I've done is original.

Google up "Visit to a Weird Planet Revisited" to see a good one.
"That new girl? She seems kinda weird to me. And what kind of name is Buffy anyway?"
"Hey, Aphrodisia!"
--unaired Buffy pilot

If you're reading this, then you've lost the game.
