I totally agree on the Straberry Shortcake Remake :runs and jupms in front of "Rainbow Brite": 'No, you can't have her! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD leve us SOME of the classic 80's cartoons!'
I know I'm gonna get yelled at, or at least recieve dirty looks, for this, but... I couldn't STAND "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". It was nothing but fighting and REALLY crappy transitions. Half the time I didn't even realize we were in a flash back until it was half over. Oh and what's with
everybody killing themselves or dying in a stupid way [i.e. the poison guy. Rather than conserving his strength he waisted it on pointless diologue that could have taken place later]. Oh here's a good idea 'I have everything I ever wanted and had to fight death for, including the man I love, but something seems off... I know, I'll jump off this cliff'..... Bitch, you better be able to fly!
I hated the episode of Spider-Man TAS where Carnage showed up. It started good until he began sucking people's life force into a jar for Dormammu. Carnage is a murderer, and works for no one, cosmic being or not. Same goes for Lobo's appearance on Superman. More character mutilation, with a poor voice to boot.

As for Excel Saga, I never got the dog episode. It didn't move the story one bit, let alone make any sense.

Thank you. I HATE it when Hollywood does that. Hello, moviemakers? Their's a reason why authors make their characters look a certain way. What pisses me off most though is when they turn a book into a movie and make the female characters more attractive then they were in the book. The realistic girl with the long dark hair and pale skin becomes the two dimensional bleached blonde with size ZZZ breasts and skin darker than toast.

I know. Akasha was supposed to look Egyptian-esque, and they made her this hot black chick. Not to mention:
AKASHA AND LESTAT AREN'T LOVERS! GOOD GOD!
and the fact that they had KORN of all people play Lestat's band...*shiver*
As for Excel Saga, I never got the dog episode. It didn't move the story one bit, let alone make any sense
lol It wasn't supposed to make sense...and it's what we call a filler episode.

You can't even really tell what kid represents what on Strawberry Shortcake anymore. It was scary enough seeing her in overalls.
I like the new TMNT cartoon. It's not as good as the original, but I still like it. Now the other ones that you mentioned I can't stand, but TMNT is good.

It's worth noting that the TMNT cartoon was based on a comic, and the new cartoon sticks much more closely to the original comic.

Regarding Queen of the Damned... I've never read the books (though I'd like to sometime - I did like the Interview With the Vampire movie, so I assume I'd probably like the books), but I loved the movie. It was thin on plot, but big on style... a feast for the ears and eyes. A terrible adaptation, but in my opinion, a very enjoyable movie.

And for the record, it was just the lead singer of Korn (Jonathan Davis) who composed the music and was Lestat's singing voice... the rest of the band were not involved. I don't really like Korn's music, but I love the songs in Queen of the Damned.

Sorry... I swear I'll think of something in response to the original question at some point ^^;

I'm an 80's cartoon purist. I just hate to see things redone. it's another reminder that I'm 23 and the world around me is constantly changing. *sigh* I miss my childhood.

I'm actually surprised. I mentioned Barney and no one has said a word about that show. *shrugs*

The show that i'd love to erase is probably most reality tv shows. there's only so much drama that I can handle and now they are coming out with more and more outrageous things. I'll never understand the entertainment industry.

I didn't mind Barney so much as I did his little companion's "Baby Bop" :shudder: and BJ. So, I wish those characters were eraised from history, but not so much the show.

The Scooby-Doo movie

Post by DuoTheShinigami02 » Mon Jan 05, 2004 11:38 pm

My vote goes to the Scooby-Doo movie, back in 2002.

As a die-hard Scooby fan, this movie ISN'T like the original shows.

That, and don't get me started on the bastardization of Scrappy-Doo (poor Scrappy...).

Darkman 2- Durant died in the copter explosion. The mere idea he survived in a coma, let alone without a scratch, is so horribly stupid I have to question the intelligence iof the scriptwriters. The mere fact Durant went up like a popcorn kernel invalidates this movie's existence.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2- a somewhat nonsensical sequel, probably from the people who gave us Darkman 2, if Shredder's survival is an indication. His new costume looked like it wa sstolen from a 3rd grade class, and on the whole, the movie didn't really go anywhere despite trying to add to the story.

Red Dragon- not that I hated it, it was just unnecessary. They made this film in 1986, as Manhunter. Lecter looked older than he did in Hannibal, Edward Norton felt a bit flat to me trying to read Will Petersen's lines, and the claims that it was closer to the book than Manhunter weren't wholly true. The beginning also goes against an established fact from SOTL(Gumb killed Raspail, not Lceter).

Ditto on any Land Before Time after the second, The Mask II, reality shows, and episode 16 of Excel Saga, which had the most unfunny scene in the entire series:
The younger Ropponmatsu android raping Excel was just SICK!
Episode 4 of Chobits. I could've done without hearing "pantsu" for 23 minutes on end, Tanaka Rie-san!

All the Sylvester and Tweety cartoons. Tweety was funny in the mid-40s by himself, but the second he paired up with Sylvester, he became the most unfunny thing ever created. Scrappy-Doo has nothing on that canary!

And lastly, every episode of the Simpsons that has starred Lisa since Lisa became a vegeatarian. Ack! She's such a bitch nowadays. Give Bart get some episodes someday, you writers! I don't care about Homer doing (insert thing here) anymore, or Lisa being a brat and arguing about something, or Marge getting stressed out about something, or about Prinicpal Skinner and Mrs. Krapabel pining over one another. I want my Bart back!
Daddy Day Care. That movie was horrid, in and out. Unless you really, REALLY want to see a bunch of four-year-olds run around and screech and have Eddie Murphy commentate... wait, even if you did, I'm sure you could find a better movie.

For this, you shall die. *haxx0rs you*

And thanks for the info on the Korn thing, all I knew is that the lead singer was involved. I enjoyed the music int he movie, but you see...if you read the book, Lestat's music isn't like that at all. Movies that don't stay at least 50% true to their adaptations bugs me, so I'm a bit anal about it.

Good point. But Attack of the Clones was worse. X.x; The acting was even worse than in The Phantom Menace, which is a shame considering I also love the original movies.

The prequels are awful. STORYLINE IS BETTER THAN SPECIAL EFFECTS! MORE IMPORTANT ALSO!!!

only 3 good things about the prequels: the game: The Clone Wars, craft: Jedi Starfighter and...

I also have to say Queen of the Damned. I'm an Aaliyah fan and that's why I wanted to see it. But damn I did not like that movie. I haven't read the book...

Black Knight. Cheezy comedy, what a waste of time and money. (I saw it in the theatre!) And the ending was terrible. I guess I should've known Martin Lawrence and medieval times don't mix.
