Guess the non-anime song!

Post by Sailor X » Sat Dec 20, 2003 4:41 pm

Unlike the previous now-locked thread, this is for non-anime songs only. This should cut down on confusion.

Rules:
1. The song you are posting must be a non-anime song. I don't know about J-Pop yet, state your opinion on the matter and help me out.
2. If no one has correctly guessed your song after four days, then you must reveal what it was and post another or give you song to another person, such as Sailor X. .
3. You may only post one song at a time.
4. Sailor X reserves the right to disqualify your song and add a new rule if neccessary. You also reserve the right to appeal his decision.
5. Cheat, and you will be shot with the Extremely Famous Anhilation Gun of Light.

I'll try to edit this with some lyrics in a second.

Well, it's been 3 hours, so I;m gonna assume you're not posting any lyrics soon ^^

Anyway, this song is a huge classic. I apologize if it's too long.

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven.

There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings,
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.

There's a feeling I get when I look to the west,
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who stand looking.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.

And it's whispered that soon if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter.

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now,
It's just a spring clean for the May queen.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on.
And it makes me wonder.

Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know,
The piper's calling you to join him,
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind.

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.

And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

Pretty close, actually. You got the song title right, not the artist though ^^. Good try

Eheh, not quite. Here's a hint: The band was at the height of their popularity in the late 60s early 70s, and the singer's name is Robert Plant.

That would be "Stairway To Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. One of the longest songs in history, totaling 11 minutes, right?

Yay! I got it! Oh, but now I have to think of a song.... *thinks*

Here ya go. It's a showtune, so if you can't name the artist, just name the play/movie it's in, and the title.

"Here she is, boys! Here she is, world! Here's Rose!!
Curtain up! Light the lights! Play it, boys!
You either got it, or you aint--
And, boys, I got it! You like it?

Well, I got it!
Some people got it and make it pay,
Some people can't even give it away.
This people's got it, and this people's spreadin' it around.
You either have it-- or you've had it.

Hello, everybody, my name's Rose. What's yours?
How d'ya like them egg rolls, Mr. Goldstone?

Hold your hats and hallelujah!
Mama's gonna show it to ya!
Ready or not, here comes Momma!

Momma's talking' loud, Momma's doin' fine,
Momma's getting' hot, Momma's going' strong,
Momma's movin' on, Momma's all alone,
Momma doesn't care, Momma's lettin' loose,
Momma's got the stuff, Momma's lettin' go--

Momma....
Momma....

Momma's got the stuff, Momma's got to move,
Momma's got to go...

Momma...
Momma...
Momma's gotta let go!

Why did I do it? What did it get me?
Scrapbooks full of me in the background!
Give 'em love and what does it get you?
What does it get you?
One quick look as each of 'em leaves you!
All your life and what does it get you?
Thanks a lot, and out with the garbage!
They take bows and you're battin' zero.

I had a dream...
I dreamt it for you, June.
It wasn't for me, Herbie.
And if it wasn't for me!
Then where would you be?!
Miss Gypsy Rose Lee!

Well, someone tell me, when is it my turn?
Don't I get a dream for myself?
Startin' now it's gonna be my turn!
Gangway, world, get offa my runway!
Startin' now I bat a thousand!
This time, boys, I'm taking the bows and
Everything's coming up Rose!
Everything's coming up Roses!
Everything's coming up Roses!
This--- time--- for--- me!!
For me...
For me...
For me...
For me...
For me...
For me!!!"

Good luck!

Sailor X, you're not site staff, and you damn well don't just openly defy someone who is. Continuing a locked thread is NOT cool, especially since you did so without any conversation with me first, as I was the one who locked the thread. To see what I have to say in more detail, read my PM, as for the short version, because of your past warnings and this open defiance to staff, you are temp banned for the rest of the year. Spend the rest of 2003 think of things you should change about yourself in 2004.

As for this thread, I guess I should say you're all lucky, as it has already started to be used, and without any of the bs that got the other one locked. Any of that bs here, this one get's locked, plain and simple. Now, if you all want to prove to me that these threads can work here, I want (a) no problems of the first one and (b) no response to this message such as "ok Dan we can do it" or of the like. I'd prefer no response to this post at all actually, I want you all to show to me with your actions in this thread you understand what I'm saying. Please continue on normally.

You are correct, Peachan! "Rose's Turn" from the play Gypsy! For a minute, I thought I was the only one who liked Broadway. That is my favourite Broadway song, along with "You Can't Stop The Beat" from Hairspray. So, it is now your turn!

peachvampiress are those actually the lyrics, or did you make them up as to how they sounded phonetically?

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.
