Without sounding too rude (though I'm sure that's how this will come across)...
The Scouring of the Shire was not "left out because it was never filmed." It was never filmed because they decided to leave it out, and that in turn was for other reasons. "The Scouring of the Shire was left out because it was never filmed" is basically a meaningless statement.

Peter Jackson actually SAYS on the FOTR commentary that the scene in the Mirror of Galadriel was a homage to the Scouring of the Shire. Whether it's actually the Shire in the mirror or not, I don't know...
Is Shelob the giant icky spider that made me scream and cover my eyes during the movie? If so, then that's what I think. If not, then who is Shelob? (BTW, ParaKiss be very, very arachnophobic.)

Shelob IS the giant spider. I wish in the movie Sam killed it like in the book...

Sam did NOT kill her in the book. Her left her blind and wounded. Like in the film. I do wish the orcs had siad the line: Look at the mess she made." Referring to the trail of her blood. Because she was blind, it is belived that Shelob died of starvation.

What about the Eagles? Or the Witchking? Let's change the subject off Shelob. Even though it's a cool scene.

I just saw it for the 3rd time yesterday. I swear to god, that was one of the best freakin' movies ever. My two favorite parts were
When Merry and Pippin were singing the song about the Green Dragon on the table in Rohan. I nearly died laughing.
And also
When Sam and Rosie got married!!! OMG!!! I swear that I was on the verge of tears, I was so happy!! Actually, in the theatre, I yelled "GO GET HER SAM!!" Everyone yelled, "SHUT UP!!"
And of course, I started to drool whenever my dear, beloved Aragorn was on the screen. He is soooo hot. *sigh* I can't wait until Hidalgo comes out.

Anyway...my thoughts on Shelob. I loved that part!! In movies, I always love gory, bloody, action filled fight scenes (one of the reasons that the LOTR trilogy are some of my favorite movies of all time), and this was a perfect example. Shelob was perfectly animated, and the scene was so intense.
And GO SAM! for killing her!!!
The saddest part was
When Denethor says that he wished that Faramir had died and Boromir had lived. I swear, I was about to sob my eyes out. Poor Faramir!! His father was so heartless!
Most disappointing part:
That they didn't have the story about Eowyn and Faramir. I don't like love scenes, but I felt that for the people who hadn't read the book, they would want to know what happened with Eowyn, what with her love for Aragorn.
*sobsob* BACK OF ARWEN!! HE'S MINE!!! ...Oh well. I could always get Sean, Billy, or Dom. But Aragorn's the best!! I LOVE YOU, ARIE!!

Wow...longest post on this board for me so far...three cheers for annoying, obsessed LOTR fans! *cheers*

I saw about 2 weeks' ago at last and it was well worth it

I kept crying
When Awern found out that she was to have a child in the vision she saw
The horsemen all lined up
The wedding
Frodo yelling at sam
Frodo and Sam almost getting killed
The other wedding
The Sceens
The Credits
They made me cry it was upsetting I tell you. They kept much better to the book then I would have thought they would have done overall in the moives well done here's the Hobbit getting made soon
