I bet that this will NOT weaken the resistance in Iraq.

Let me just say this. This is NOT going to help the Democrats.

I just hope that some of our people can come home.
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

I get the impression though that Saddam is going to do his Goering imersonation at his trial, sticking with his beliefs until the end. In other words, we're looking at Nuremberg all over again. Whch may not be such a bad thing.

*Nods* that's my biggest concern, as well. these people need to be at home, with their families and loves ones. I have a sense of relief that Saddam is captured, but i'm not sure why...I guess becuase that part of our problem is over.
Nobody knows what will happen next. We all have our opinions, but not a single one of us truly knows. I just hope that for a while, at least, our two countries will leave the other the hell alone.

I'm personally happy and relieved that Saddam has been captured. I am even more pleased by the fact that he was captured alive, and none of the troops were hurt. If he had been killed he probably would have been seen as a martyr, and that may have encouraged more violence in Iraq, which is something that nobody wants.
Perhaps now more troops can come home to their families and loved ones, and maybe the scars that have come up between so many countries can start healing. As of now, things are looking up, and I pray with all of my heart that things will continue to do so.

I'm happy they they have finally caught the SOB, but I have a feeling that the violence from his supporters is only going to get worse. Saddam deserves to have his *** kicked by every single person he wronged, the bastard.

I don't know ... something about this seems a little ... odd. No one in my family (myself included) actually believes that Saddam was caught.

If it turns out that the capture did happen, of course I'd be happy. However, the moment I heard this, I was immediately suspicious. I guess I'll just have to wait and see ...

I have a feeling even with the guy captured this is still going to increase attacks.

Hell, we've lost more people than during the AGRESSIVE attack.

The man was found in a hole like a rat. Even if he sticks with his beliefs they won't be very, well, believable. If he truely had those convictions he claims then he would have stayed and fought.

If anything, I think he was glad to surrender just to get out of that hole in the ground. He didn't even try to resist. But again, this is mirroring the fall of Nazi Germany, Saddam watched his power and hold of terror evaporate, his wealth gone, and he was living in a hole in the ground. except Hitler ended up just shooting himself in the end.

The only sad part about this whole affair is that it wasn't done in 91. He had an extra 12 years of free reign. And yes, I do think that there are a few other dictators in line who could stand an ousting, though not immediately. We have too few resources at hand.

I'm writing this Sailor Moon/Green Lantern crossover AU fic called "Emerald Sunrise". It's a hybrid of Action/Adventure, Sci-Fi, Romance, and Comedy. It's about Ami (Sailor Mercury) getting a new boyfriend who just happens to be a member of The Green Lantern Corps. I'm also throwing in some other characters from other animes and some old Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the late '60's early '70's. I'm also illustrating it as well. Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.

i agree with Tempest and Tiff. Iraq is filled with terrorists, and i wouldn't want another family to have an extra seat for a X-mas dinner. I don't want Saddam to get the death penalty, I think that we should persuade him to be on our side, and use his information to d\shut down al-quida.

as wonderfully idyllic as that would be, it isn't going to happen.

not going to happen. there is NO WAY we could persude him to assist us.

I'm hoping for him to get life in jail, no parole.

I personally think that we should ASSIST Iraq, and get out AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. we've already lost more soldiers after the, "War" was over.

Capturing Saddam is only going to make attacks more vicious.

They're thinking of trying him in an Iraqi courtroom, so they can let his victims decide what to do with him.

I can only imagine what they'd sentence him to...
