You know what? Normally, I don't mind people like PETA. They don't like to eat animals? Fine. They don't want YOU to eat animals? Fine. They want to discuss/explain/propagandize their position? Hell, it's a free country.

But when I see something like THIS - something SO sacrelilgious it would make the most forgiving Christian raise an eyebrow - I cannot but pause and stand amazed at the utter gall and lack of respect this organization has.

.... what the hell .....
I just ... what the hell ...
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

Well, I'll have words.

It is very saddening and at the same time, it makes me angry to see people make God say things we don't know he thought or not. People eat meat ? God said they shouldn't! People are gay and want to marry ? God said marriage was for children! And so on and so on.

This is soooooooooooooo wrong...

*nods* good point, Akarui. Let's not forget that the bible was not written by God himself, so the fact that these people claim to live by it and by living by it are living by what God tells them to do...um, no. I don't believe that in the slightest. Keep in mind that's my opinion.
It's one thing to say "God tells us not to eat meat" (which is utter bullshit, IMO, show me the passage where it says THAT.), which is borderline "over the line", but it's quite another to actually construct an image that, as Starscream said, is so sacreligious and without any thought as to whether or not it would be offensive to people. Hell, I don' tknow my religion, and it offended ME.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

That link wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for the "What would God do?" thing. My memories on this are a little fuzzy, but in the book of Acts, didn't God tell Paul to eat meat? Paul said he didn't want to because it was against his word, but God told him to do it? It had something to do with Paul going to preach the gospel to the Gentials, or something like that. Like I said, my memories on it are a bit fuzzy, but I remember that God telling people not to eat meat was only something for the Jews.

I think it's silly because the Bible itself has instances of "God" telling people to kill people and animals anyway. This just makes me more staunch in my atheism.

It's not that shocking to me, since it's just a website and doesn't really hurt anyone. There are worse things that could come out of twisting religious beliefs into your own prejudices.

Oh my god..that is so..just so wrong. I respect PETA's whole thing about animal rights, but this and their "Veggieburg" and other campaign moves are just pushing it. It seems obviously PETA doesn't mind though, since they've always done the most outrageous things to try to get their point across, ie throwing red paint on fur-wearing models, flinging dead foxes at people and yelling "Here's the rest of your fur coat" and "Your mommy kills animals!", sending nude models with anti-meat signs strategically placed to walk the streets, trying to get the Green Bay Packers to change to the Green Bay Pickers, trying to get Rodeo, California to change its name to "Unity" and Hamburg, New York to change to "Veggieburg", and now this. *sigh* See that little speck fading off into the distance? Yep, there goes the respect I have for PETA, shrinking away..Although I believe in animal rights, this is not the way to go about it, and it seems to me that PETA's little "animal-rights" stunts are not much more than publicity-whoring..

Ooook... that was desterbing. However, let me clear something up. 1) God didn't say the Jews couldn't eat meat, the just have to fallow rules about it [i.e. not eating pig/ not drinking milk with meat]. 2)God "said" "Thou Shalt Not MURDER!", it was mistranslated into "kill" by somebody down the line, [and no I don't want to argue over the difference between Murder and Kill].
This sign really dosn't surprise me though, people have been twisting God's words for thousands upon thousands of years to control others. Yeah it's disturbing and kinda wrong, but I spose it is there... um, right?
I'm a vegitarian [for like 2 months now], but I don't think that it is at all right to try and make people be vegitarians. It's a personal choice that people have to make for themselves. And I oppologize for those hostile vegs that make the rest of us look bad.
Nothing sucks like a Jed-kun - The "sloganize" web site.

I meant at least they just made a weird website and aren't killing people for eating meat. They could, you know, do that like how the death penalty is meant to kill people who kill.

I can't even think of how anyone could justify this. I'm sorry. I can't... no. I can't even BEGIN to understand them now. What's their goal? If it's to piss people off who might have supported them, they achieved it.

That's just completely ridiculous. "What would God do?" Well, I don't know, maybe he doesn't need to eat.

I hate you, PETA.

Ewww! Why is Mary holding a dead chicken? That is so wrong! A billboard? How did they allow this? It needs to be burned back to God, if you ask me. How can they assume God wants this? What if he can't wait to send them to only He knows where? I never liked them, I never disliked them. Now, when I go crazy after high school, they are on my hit list >< Anger fills me.

You know what's funny? I could tolerate their "Jesus was a vegetarian" promotion - they have some version of the bible where He just distributes 12 loaves of bread to 5000 people (others - like the one I read - also has him distributing fish) - but this is just taking it too far. It shouldn't matter what faith you believe in (or don't for that matter); comparing an act that many people believe to be the most holy of miracles to a choice of eating habits is downright insulting. No, it doesn't "hurt" people physically, but it's an emotional and spiritual outrage for those of us who DO believe it.

But pain isn't always physical, so it can very well hurt people who, like you said, spiritually believe in it.
Either way, I think so far we all agree (those who have replied, anyway), that this is highly offensive and going too far, hrm?
