Personally, I think the delivery of his statements left a lot to be desired, but I don't sense any sort of bigotry or anti-Semitism behind them. Rather, it seems to me that he's attempting to understand why the violence in the areas of Israel and Palestine continues. He makes some generalizations, but there doesn't seem to be any hate in them.
I think violence like what keeps on in that area would be difficult to understand, even by scholars. It seems like one side or the other will do something to sabotage any peace process that begins, making everyone start over at Square One each time.
But meh, it's late and I'm not making the most sense. I hope my thoughts are at least
somewhat coherent. On that note, I'm off to get some sleep.

The problem with the statement is that he singles out Israel, and then says all the Jewish people, are responsible for the instability in the middle east. He only blames Israel for the "culture of violence" and passes off the Holocaust as a simple isolated incident.
In truth the Holocaust was the "last straw" which started the drive for the Jewish people to resettle their ancient homeland (before that the "Zionists" were considered eccentric by most Jews). There were the various pogroms in Europe and Russia, and the lies spread about Jews that became truisms in those societies; which ended up getting Jews killed.
And Israel is not the only nation that, "believes its survival can only be ensured by weapons and bombs," thats how all nations feel, thats why every nation on this planet (AFAIK) has a military. India itself is a nuclear power.
His comments also make it sound like Israel makes no effort towards peace. When it is usualy the first one to make peace concessions and usually dose the most to ensure the stability of peace pacts (It has held back even when its own people were being bombed, just to maintain peace).
Ghandhi's comments reflect an over-simplistic view of the conflict that reflects a "throw them the Jews" mentality. It suggests that if Israel is removed then the middle-east will settle down. The problem is that Israel is only being used as a scapegoat, even if it disappears the problems in the region will remain. The extremists will then just blame any outsiders for their problems, and start attacking other nations.

I think Gamer summed it up better then I could put it. But I will say that because of who he is his words were going to be taken to extremes no matter what. The name Ghandi is taken by many to mean someone who has a cultural understanding and love for all men due to his lineage. My problem with his saying like Gamer is he trivializes what is really going on in Isreal. I have friends who hail from Isreal both Palestinian and Jewish, went to school with several of them they didnt declare holy wars in my school and many of them got along and agreed that they wished for a true end so that they could see their homelands in peace. But like most countries its up to the powers that be to see this. I remember when Yitzah Rabin died it was one of the saddest days, he was one of the few leaders that was so very close to a true accord and he was cut down. And the new leaders are working hard but its not easy you have to get threw years of tensions and misunderstandings.
And the Hallucaust..sigh I remember that part of my histories class I still have nightmares from the documentaries we were showed in Ap class. I could never understand how anyone no matter what walk of life they stem from or who they are related to trivilizing or maginalizing such a horrific event. So many lifes lost due to ignorance, and if we allow it to become something insignificant it will happen again on that scale. Cause believe you me Geneocide is still going on we just dont hear about it the way we should.
"Have you been half asleep? And have youve heard voices?
I hear them calling my name."
Is this the sweet sound, that calls the young sailors?
The voice maybe one in the same.
Ive heard it too many times to ignore it,
its something that I sposed to be..
Someday we''''ll find it, the rainbow connection
The lover, the dreamer, and me..."
