Um, no. Kill Bill is an homage to spaghetti westerns and kung-fu movies. It did not start out as a Japanese movie.

I went to HMV and I SAW the Japanese movie sitting on the shelf, right BESIDE the Kill Bill movie. It had the exact same cover art and everything. I just can't remember the title.ParaKiss_Groupie wrote:RoastedTwinkies wrote:Kill Bill started out as a Japanese movie. What was the name of the Japanese version again?

It had a different title. "Kill M_____" I can't remember the Japanese name. It was a box set containing two DVDs. Looking back on it now, I'm not really sure what it was.ParaKiss_Groupie wrote: Yes, because that couldn't just be the Japanese release of the movie, could it? Kill Bill is American. Quentin Tarantino wrote the script. He and Uma Thurman CAME UP WITH THE IDEA WHILE WORKING ON PULP FICTION.
And what the hell is HMV?
Sorry, I couldn't help but laugh. I take it that you guys don't have HMV in the US? HMV is a store like A&B Sound. They sell CD's, DVD's and the like. HMV used to have it's own website, but then they joined in with Amazon.Parakiss_Groopie wrote: And what the hell is HMV?

It was probably an older movie that helped inspire the idea. Quentin chose a lot of specific movies to incorporate, and that may have been one of them.RoastedTwinkies wrote:It had a different title. No, I didn't see your reply, since I was typing that up ^_^;;;Tiff wrote:o_O; I'm gonna assume you didn't see my reply, and didn't just blatantly ignore the information I presented you.
-_- I honestly think you were mistaken, hun...I'm sure it was either a Japanese import, or something completely different. Just becuase it had the word "Kill" in it doesn't mean it was Kill Bill o_O; it coul dhave been ANY Japanese movie with the word "Kill" in it.RoastedTwinkies wrote:
That's definately not the one I saw on the shelf. I'm not saying that I don't believe you, but the one I saw on the shelf had different cover art. It may have been a parody of Kill Bill. I have no idea.

But it had the black and yellow color scheme and everything. There's no way you could mistake something like that. The cover art was nearly exactly alike with the exception of the title. But like Parakiss said, it may have been an older movie which inspired the Kill Bill movies in the first place.Tiff wrote:-_- I honestly think you were mistaken, hun...I'm sure it was either a Japanese import, or something completely different. While this does run a little off topic, that's exactly what I did with the LOTR trilogy. I didn't buy any of the DVDs, hoping that a box set will be released. Whether or not there will be a box set released for LOTR, I don't know, but whenever a series of movies like this comes out, I always wait and see if a box set is released.MarioKnight wrote:Excatly why I haven't bought either of the DVDs yet, I know that this will be milked for all it's worth, and that they will eventually have a special edition with both volumes in it. So no purchase from me until it comes out, since given the popularity of the film, it's a given. I do have to disagree with you about getting conned out of your money though, no one forced you to buy the discs right when they came out. It's common practice for things like this to happen with popular titles, you decided to give in to the first releases rather than wait to see if there might be a special combined one in the future. Other than that, I agree with you. Having an editted down version sux ass so I hope the almost guranteed special editions have the uncut. If not, then I'm just gonna get the R2s.
ADMIN MODE: Sweety, I know you're an admin, too, but I'm gonig to have to tell you the same thing I have to tell every other member when they open up with death threats and the like: CALM DOWN. You have every right to feel how you want, but you do NOT need to speak with that much anger on here. You need to step away, calm down, and then THINK before you type up a response. Dude it's a DVD. It isn't life-threatening. Saying that someone can DIE over a freakin dvd is ridiculous. Next time, calm down before you post like that again.AnimeGuru0 wrote:WHAT THE FREAKING HELL.
The Japanese got an unedited version while we got an edited version??? THAT IS F'ED UP ROYALLY. I'm so freaking pissed right now. I wouldn't be pissed if they just re-edited those scenes back in for the DVD release, but they didn't, those BASTARDS.
I hate Quentin Tarrantino. He can kiss my royal hairy butt. He just conned us all into buying Volume 1 and 2 and then he'll probably release a "Special edition" and take ANOTHER 40 bucks from our wallets.
I hope he and his studio (what was this movie published under? Miramax?) die and burn in hell. Money hungry jerks. *is so pissed can't even think straight*
Sorry, but as the site that we're on right now will testify, I don't like getting "watered down" versions of ANYTHING.
and Dan is right...nobody forced you to buy anything. And you can buy the unedited version, SUBBED DVD online. I've looked it up. Also, there IS a boxset with the unedited version in it.I do have to disagree with you about getting conned out of your money though, no one forced you to buy the discs right when they came out.
