I saw Kill Bill 2 yesterday and it was great. I like how this one concentrated on the story behind it more. And how the vfistvoleume was more action. So together it was a like a good balance. I can't say which one I thought was better because I love both for different reasons.

I have to admit I thought the anime scene in the first one was a little out of place though.

Oh, I thought it was great at that point. Basically it said, "I'm about to show you some serious shit, so distrubing that I couldn't subject a child actor to even film it, nor could I make you watch it without giving you some kind of visual cue that this is, after all, fiction." Also the music used for the first part of the sequence, the spaghetti Western-style theme with the wailing singer was so perfect and emotional. One of the best "chapters" of the two volumes, IMO.

I saw vol. 1 on Friday and vol. 2 last night. I think vol. 2 was better as far a plot and character development go. vol. 1 was mainly just a bunch of mindless action where the blood looks incredibly fake. The only scene even close to being like that in Kill Bill 2
was when Beatrix (Uma Thurman) ripped out Daryl Hannah's character's other eye and then showed a close up of her stepping on it.
I couldn't have said it better myself. Hell, that entire anime scene had me in tears.

My friend Lydia and I figured out her name in Volume 1. Then again, we watched it enough to have the movie memorized, so that could be why.

Well, I've heard nothing but good reviews on the movie, so I just might go watch it. All my friends say that's an awsome movie. However, I do not stomach blood that well. I don't like movies like Braveheart. From a scale of 1 ~ 10 (1 being the least blood, 10 being the goriest), how would you rate this movie?

Volume 1 is very bloody. Indeed, at times it can be gratuitous. Easily a 10. Volume 2 is almost entirely bereft of blood per se, but does have a few gross-out shots. Let's give it a 2. If you're not into swordplay at all, I'd say skip One and go straight to Volume Two. You'll catch up relatively quickly on the plot from the first scene.

Not sure of the exact spelling, but they sound like
Marty Ketroser and Melanie Harhaus. Yes, the latter surname sounds a lot like "whorehouse." But it's a legitimate name for Germans, and probably something Tarantino thought sounded cool.
Damn. That's what I wanted to do. But you said first, so... ;)

I adore Kill Bill. I love it I love it I love it and I can't stress that enough. It rocks my tiny world, and I'm not terribly fond of violence, myself, but this, oh... it was fantastic. No, it didn't have much plot, but I hear Part 2 remedies that and I really can't wait to see it. I haven't been excited about a film in ages!

(No, I haven't seen it yet. Letting myself down here, but I'm going away this weekend, to a place that has, like, AN ACTUAL CINEMA WOO and come hell or high water, I'll see the film.)

I saw the Vol.1 DVD at Costco yesterday. So maybe I should get it. I am dying to see Go Go in action! :) What do you guys think of the yellow cover? :? I was thinking maybe a more blackish theme with a giant sword.

I think the yellow cover fits the movie more. And I hate the colour yellow. It hurts my eyes. So, the fact that I think it's good says a lot. After you see the movie, you'll see that black really wouldn't work with the overall feel of the movie.

Really? I think I visited Kill Bill's official website and I remember the splash page was orangey-yellow but inside, it's gloomy and dark (with all the swords). :P

Good to see that so many more people have seen Kill Bill now, and the majority enjoyed it. After seeing Vol. 2 (I was there opening day) I agree with the consensus that it was even better than the first volume. The first one has the action and the violence, and the second one has the dialogue and characterization. Quentin Tarantino movies are known both for violence and the dialogue, so together they make make for the perfect Tarantino movie.

I absolutely adore GoGo as well, my only complaint being that she wasn't in it long enough. I've heard that Tarantino wrote a scene involving GoGo's sister that was supposed to be in Vol. 2 but got cut. Oh well, he can always put her in Vol. 3.

I don't own Vol 1. on DVD yet just because I'm fairly certain that Tarantino will come out with a special edition when Vol 2 is released on DVD.

I have the Kill Bill Vol.1 Soundtrack hoping to have that great background melody from the start of the fight scene with The Bride and O-Ren (the one that starts right when O-Ren removes her slippers). It sounds so cool. I think it is track 10 on the CD called:

"Don't Let Me Be Understood" - Santa Esmeralda

However, I only want the melody because it's better. That one has vocals as well. Anyone know where to find the melody-only? :(

Edit:
Nevermind! The melody-only part is in the second half of that track.

I'm hiding from the world when I get it. I'm going to watch it, then Kill Bill 1, then 2 again, then 1 again, then 2 again, until my brian turns into Uma-obsessed mush.

Kill Bill started out as a Japanese movie. What was the name of the Japanese version again?
