I'm rooting for the Yankees to win the World Series. Usually, if you live in/near NYC, you'd either like the Yankees or the Mets, and since the Yankees are in the playoffs, most of us are rooting for them.
There are those Mets fans that root for the Red Sox mainly because they don't want to let the Yankees win, but then this big arguements start about how they're not really New Yorkers or something.
I find it rather funny.

But I guess I've always liked the Yankees the most, because they were around before the Mets, and it's not as if I could root for the Brooklyn Dodgers or anything, because they're not in NY anymore. XD;

But yeah. Go Yankees!

True. But let's just see how good they do today. I have a great feeling that the Yankees are going to kick their ass again.

Hmmm... I'd say that winning the game 10 - 3 is pretty damn good. :P Go Sox! Great job this series in breaking the curse and coming back from a 3 - 0 loss. Best of luck in the World Series. ^_^

The curse isn't broken till they win the Series. And even if they do, they'll be no better than the Phillies or the Braves or any other flash-in-the-pan team. The Yankees are still the best-performing major North American sports team, though you could make a case for the Montreal Canadiens.

If they do win, though, I'm probably going to stop watching baseball. The reason I watch is to have my teams win and be a lot better than other teams, thereby making me vicariously happy. No offence to non-Yankee-fans, but I don't ever want to see you happy because your team has won, because that's my happiness taken away. There's no middle ground.

I don't like the Red Sox. They haven't won a World Series in 86 years, and their excuse is: "We're cursed, we're cursed." They're not cursed. They just suck.

*gets ready for an angry Red Sox fans mob*

Go Yankees!
... and in recent news:

The Boston Red Sox win the ALCS coming back down 3-0 in the series by slamming the Yankees 10-3. The game featured the BoSox crushing four homers including a Grand Slam against Yankee pitching.

They await the winner of the Astros/Cardinals series which is also going to Game 7.

I have a hard time equating the Red Sox with the Braves. I mean, the Braves have won the NL West or East every year since 1991 with the exception of the strike year ('94). Boston has won the AL East once in that time, and has made it as the Wild Card three other years. I realize the Braves have only one World Series, but I think "flash-in-the-pan" is being too harsh. (The Phillies on the other hand ... one playoff appearance in the last 20 years, losing to the Jays in my all-time favourite sports moment ever - Joe Carter winning Game 6 with a 3-run home run off Mitch Williams.)

Anyway, now that Boston has made it, I can start cheering against them, because I never particularly liked them - I was cheering against the Yankees as opposed to for the Red Sox. I'll be pulling for whoever comes out of the NLCS, which will hopefully be St. Louis. They haven't looked nearly as good recently as they did after the first two games, but I think they can pull it out.

The World Series starts Saturday ... I'm already looking forward to it!

Damn you, Johnny Damon!!!

But really, I do have to admit that the Red Sox did the impossible: they come back from a 3-0 loss. The Yankees had to win only one game to kill them off for good, but it didn't happen. Maybe next year.

Kudos to you, Red Sox. And I hope they do win the World Series so that they can stop crying and using the excuse that they're cursed. It's really annoying.

Go Yankees and Cubs!

Well, I do feel for Houston ... the Astros have never been to the World Series. However, I did pick St. Louis from the start, so I'm happy to see the Cardinals get through. (St. Louis won 5-2 in Game 7, by the way, for anyone who doesn't know.)

It looks like it'll be Woody Williams against Tim Wakefield for Game 1 Saturday.

Well, Game 1 is in the books, and it was pretty crazy. The final was 11-9 Boston. Boston did make 4 errors, but somehow managed to hold on.

Woody Williams just didn't pitch well, but then Wakefield started to falter. It came down to a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 8th off the foul pole in right for Mark Bellhorn off of Julian Tavarez. St. Louis had just tied it at 9 in the top of the inning, so that was that.

Next game tomorrow is Matt Morris vs. Curt Schilling. I wonder how Schilling's ankle will hold up ...

My congrats to Boston on their first World Series win in ... 87 years, was it? No sarcasm intended, congratulations. They really deserved it.
