*blink* Does your name start with a "La" or a "Mc"? If so, sorry, but those names just really annoy me ^^;;; Probably becuase there's so many damn "McKennas" and "McKenzies" here.

And yeah, I've noticed that, too. I knew a girl who was Korean, and she called herself Jane. I liked her original name better. (I've since forgotten it.)
Nah ^_^. I'm just being weirdly cute and funny. I love the name McKenna for reasons I won't explain (let's just say that you can never have too many McKenna's, heh heh... ... -_-)

Although, now that I think about it, it's probably cool to have a "local name" based on the area that you're going to be living in. I mean, if I was living in Japan for a few years, I'd want to be called Tamashii ~_^

Girl names I like: Aurora, Trinity, Dallis (yeah, with an "i." Screw traditional spelling) Miranda, and Addie. I also like other names, a few of them ethnic, but since I'm whiter than white, I guess I won't mention those. You all seem to have a thing against it. I'll name em all Mary and Sue, okay?
Guy names: um... I'm not real sure. I like the name Shay, and I think Daevid is an awesome spelling (I'm all for messing up traditional names. Its fun.) I also like the names Harley and Shane.

0__o I actually didn't know you were white.

Okay, you know how Chris is the shortened version of Christopher? Well, one of my friends told me today that a guy she works with calls himself Topher as a short form of Christopher (I actually thought she said gopher ^_^; )

There is NO NEED to cop an attitude. If you want to disagree, do so intelligently. Some of us just think it a little silly to slap a Japanese name on someone who has no Japanese background whatsoever. Name your kids whatever the hell you want.

Nobody was personally attacking you, or anybody else who likes ANY names.

Topher Grace, the guy who plays Eric from That 70's Show is really named Christopher. He wanted to take on a stage name, so he just chopped off Chris. I think it's a really unique name.

reading all these names is giving me a flash back to high school. Ever have a name that people could make a joke out of? My middle name is Mae and people like to joke "Tina Maybe...." And when my mom yells and uses my full name, it sounds a little hillbillish. The only thing saving it is that it's my Grandmother's middle name too.

Other names I like:

Girl: Kathryn, Karen and Melanie

Boy: Patrick and Jonathan

OK...so far, I haven't given mch thought to having a boy (that is, if I ever do have a kid--this is probably due to my newest cousin and how damn loveable she is), but I've taken a liking to "Roxeanne" for girls. That's mainly from reading part of Le Divorce. So far, if it's a boy, I'll just have to get a French calendar.
"That new girl? She seems kinda weird to me. And what kind of name is Buffy anyway?"

My middle name's May, too! I'm not a "maybe," tho, I'm a "may not." A friend of my parents made it up one day when my mom shouted "Ida May come here!" and the friend answered "Ida may not, too." I've never had a maybe. I kinda like it better.

PeachVampiress: you crack me up. lol

Seriously, my friends would tease me and say things like Tina Maybe Young. Basically making fun of my whole name. I had another friend who constantly called me Tina Marie. I'm still trying to figure that one out.

I believe it's "Add-eh-lay-d". At least, that's how I've heard it pronounced.

Ouch, sorry, lol, my bad for those names.

Tiffu-san is correct for Adélaide. Add-el-ayyy-idd. LOL.

Aurèle... hmm... Orelu (in Japanese, it would sound like that...lol.)

Actually, last letter is "silent" so you'd say "Or-ell".

Wow, you guys really like unusual names o_O
My ultimate favorite names:
GIRLS:
1.Laurel (Not Laura or Lauren) (My ultimate fav)... Hmm, let's think now, can't think of others... I also like...
2.Sage (but maybe as a middle name or somethin),
3.Amy (Laurel Amy is a pretty name I think),
4.Holly,
5.Yvonne,
6.Margaret but NOT Margie or Marge (This name is sort of formal, so it's better with a less-formal middle name),
7.Nina,
8.Elise is pretty too, but it's my middle name, so there yas go.
EDIT: Jade is also very pretty, but I think it would make a better middle name.
I've basically got the plant-shrub-tree thing going on (Laurel, Sage, Holly.... at least not Willow)... What can I say, I'm a gardener!

Basically classic names.

BOYS:
1.Michael is my fav (NOOOOOOT MIKE)
2.Followed by Stephen (Steve isn't as bad as Mike, but it's not as good as Stephen) (If I was a boy I would be Stephen Michael, which is good),
3.REMUS!!!!
4.Adam,
5.Alexander,
6.Waldo* (just kidding),
7.Timothy,
8.David,
9.Matthew

Basically, again, classic, non-shortened names.

If I was to have a boy and girl (I just plan to adopt a girl, but anyway,) their names would be (With *ed out last names:

Michael Stephen Remus ********

Laurel Amy ******** (This name reminds me fondly of my friend Laura, who loves the name Amy <:D

Names I don't like so much:
Ashley, Stephanie (I would have been named Stephanie if my Mom hadn't won  ) (Thank you mom :D ), Abby, Cathy, Jane, Kristy
Mike, Joe, Bob, Dan (I'm on a roll here), George, Jeff... Basically your 3-to 5- letter, boring, stereotypical "Lazy guy" names. James is sort of annoying too, because it's a family name and I'm sick of it.

I hope I don't offend anyone with any of these names!!
P.S- I sincerely hope you guys call your kids Sparkle and Moonbeam as nicknames, and not at school.

*for those of you that've seen the Little Rascals: "My name is Waldo Allouicious Jonston the 3rd" (sp?)

“See this butt? Yeah. Look at it. LOOK AT MY BUTT. This is all you’re getting. MY BUTT to look at it. Yeah, bet you’re sorry now, aren’t you? You’d like to see my cute fuzzy face, wouldn’t you? But all you’re getting is the BUTT. LOOK AT IT. LOOK AT MY BUTT. Sucker.”
The thing is, Henrietta has—how can I put this? Kind of a big butt. If Henrietta were a celebrity? She’d be J-Lo.
Not that J-Lo has what I would call a big butt. But others have opined that this is so. I think J-Lo has a normal, healthy butt. As does Henrietta.

Yeah, that's the trouble with names like that. I like the name "Elizabeth" all right, but I really don't like "Beth" or "Liz". And that's what they end up being called. My mom wants me to name my future kid Angelina, which WOULD be lovely, but they'd call her Angie. *Shudder*

Just as annoying is the i-for-y substitution that's popular these days, as in Staci, Nikki, Mari, Luci, etc. No offense intended to anyone who has one of those names.
That's why the Ami to Amy thing bugged me. What the hell was the point in changing it?! People want SO hard for their kids to be "unique", that they'll change "Mary" to "Mari"...People, it's not your kids' names that make them unique. It's their PERSONALITY.
I think the "i" instead of "y" works sometimes. Nikki is a very common for a girl. usually boys spell it Nicky. So I don't see anything wrong with it. And my name is Jodi, which can also be spelt Jody or Jodie. (people constantly spell my name with the "ie" ~_~) According to my name meaning book and a couplesites, Jody and Jodi have different meanings too. o_O The others look plain wierd spelt with an "i" to me though.

I don't know how I missed this topic. I like these names-
Girls-
Cassandra
Adrianna
Jade
Tyra
Ebony
Tamera
Serina (nope not a Sailormoon reference. I spelt it this way long before I knew about Serena from Sailormoon. Pretty sure it's an alt spelling )
Dominique
Mercedes

Guys-
Chris (yep I know it's a nick for Christian/Christopher/Christoph or however you spell it. I like Christian the most out of them)
Adrian
Tyrone
Jose (I like it better than Joseph/Joe)
Mike
Daniel
Will (William.. I like a lot of the shortened of male names better)

-_- I hate when people abbriviate my name (which I hate already). My name is not Chris, Chrissy, Christy and NOT Tina. The only abbriviation I like is Christine, but only my sewing teacher calls me that.

How do you get Tina out of Christine? o_O I could undestand if our name was Christina. Hehe Tina is my best friend's name.

My close friends and family call me Jo and JoJo sometimes. And at times my family lengthens it by throwing my middle name in there too. So you get "Jodi Ann" I guess it's a pretty common full first name in Jamaica. I honestly don't mind any of it though...

I love a lot of girls names for osme reason. I left out Yolanda, Latoya, Shantelle, Rochelle (my parents almost named me that), and probably many others [/quote]
