Jobs

Post by Sailormars Obsessed fan » Sun Aug 06, 2006 8:36 am

I just lost my job. I dont even know why to be honest. I apparently wasnt doing it correctly and instead of pulling me aside to the back and explaining to me what I was doing wrong and how to fix it the manager just exploded at me in full view of the customers. I was in tears after this. The way our society works a 29 year old guy crying in public is usually something laughed at. I just cant bring myself to go back there after that so I quit. I dont know if I did the right thing or not but I dont think I really had any other choice in that matter. People wouldnt have looked at me the same after that.

Dont know why Im telling you all this. Guess I just need to say it.

I just wish I knew why I felt so damn guilty when its their fault. No matter what I did wrong they shouldnt have treated me like that.

Wow, I'm sorry; I had a similar experience like that with my first job. I was constantly being harassed and even physically hurt by an employee, which nothing was ever done about, so I ended up walking out one night. At my second job, he started to show up there, so I tried to get a restraining order. The case ended up going to court, and the second judge just threw it out without any testimony, saying it was just "Immature kids picking on each either".

My mom was too much of wimp to let me persue the matter, but I think you can get your boss in big trouble for what happened if you report it; publicly humiliating someone is never okay, and you might even be able to sue.
STAGE OUT!!!

That was entirely unprofessional and unnecessary of your boss. It is NOT good practice to holler or become unglued at ANY employee at any job for any reason (unless, of course, there was violence or something major going on). The principal at my old school used to be sarcatic and mean to me all the time in front of other staff, and it always made me feel humiliated.

Your final line is absolutely correct. No matter what procedure you messed up, there is NO excuse for him to treat you like that, especially publicly.

If your manager is going to treat you like garbage, you're better off without them. And you're telling us becuase you need to vent. Thbat's normal. It's okay to be angry and depressed for a bit...but then pick yourself up, realize it wasn't your fault, and go out and look for a new job. Good luck!

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Yeah, I agree, that was really unprofessional and rude.

Just the other day, my supervisor wrote me a note that my work a few nights was "unacceptable" and that I need to to fix pretty much everything I am doing and wrote about all of them. It hurt, because I thought I was doing fine, but I guess I wasn't.

I could tell she was frustrated and angry, but... at least it was a note and not just yelling in public or something like that, and wrote out the criticisms decently enough that it helped me fix some things (I hope). It was a lot more professional than what your former employer did.

That totally sucks ass. Fuck that guy! Fuck him right in the ear!

(I will now stop using profanity as a means of expressing myself :) )

Just move on. There's nothing you can do or change about it at this point. I personally feel that what you did was right and probably the best call you could make. Hopefully your next job will be in better circumstance.

As for a personal story. I'm 15 so my boss walks all over me... Nothing I can really do but respect him and then wait until he leaves so I can talk shit with the other employees...

Good luck with your next job friend :)
