Pandora.com - Way freaking cool

Post by AnimeGuru0 » Thu Aug 03, 2006 9:57 pm

I dunno how many people have heard of this....

http://www.pandora.com

It's basically a customizable radio station. I stumbled across it today. What you do is you add artists and songs you like, and like it says, it makes you a customizable radio station based on what kind of music you've added and you like. The best part is it's free too (it eventually asks you to create an account but that is free too), and you can send your radio station to your friends.

I'll be the first to admit my station is very very very very wussy and girly, but that's ok, that's the kind of music I like. Mine includes:

Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Michelle Branch, Evanescence, as well as others.

Try it out =P It's fun.

Years ago, I used to use Launch.com (which I think now, may be Yahoo's music section), which had a customizable personal radio thing similar to that.

It was fun for a while, but I find that I'd rather just play my mp3s so I can hear what I want when I want it. It was good for hearing recommendations and finding new artists, though.

My favorite music thingie is last.fm, formerly Audioscrobbler. It tracks what you listen to and shows you charts of your top played artists and stuff, I've been using it forever. :)

Thanks for posting this! I'm officially hooked! It's a really cool way to try out different kinds of music. I'm already noting down every cool new song I love so I can check out more of that artists' music later on.
