I'm reading the Eragon series too, I'm maybe about halfway or a little less into the second book. When I started the first book I thought it was a giant rip-off of everything, but I started to like it more later on. The second book seems to be overall better than the first one.

On Wednesday, I was in Borders, showing off the embarrassing side of my taste in literature.

I bought the graphic novel of The Baby-Sitters Club #1: Kristy's Great Idea.

It adheres almost totally to the original book, with one major difference being the fact that the logo has changed completely--although one should note that Claudia's spelling is still inconsistent here (as in, aside from the small issue of an apostrophe, it's actually GOOD). At least it's consistent with the suggestion that the letters be in alphabet blocks. And it's a bit more in line with Claudia being an artist. Although I found it quite interesting to note that while Stacey is Charlotte's favourite sitter, she's not the first (although the Johanssens don't actually appear in the book).

Interestingly, the next book in the series is The Truth About Stacey, not Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls. Then again, it's quite a task to do 135 books in a lot less time than originally occured, so maybe they're just going to cover the important bits (even though that means covering at least five of the next seven books)

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Question: How many books total were written in the BSC series? Not including reprints. (I'm asking because I thought it was more than what you said.)

And I might have to look into this the next time I'm in Waldenbooks. I used to read this a lot (in fact, I still have the books. I was thinking about selling them, though) and of course had no idea they were making them into comics.

I just wasn't counting the non-regular series books.

My most recent books have been Mabel Maney's Jane Bond stories, Kiss the Girls and Make Them Spy and The Girl With The Golden Bouffant.

These concern Jane Bond, James Bond's lesbian twin sister. When James, ever the sloppy, supposedly suave, sexist moron of a spy, goes out of commission, Jane is hired to impersonate him. However, unbeknownst to everyone on Her Majesty's Secret Service, she's also backed by her girlfriend Bridget St. Claire, member of GEORGIE, a top-secret all-woman agency headed by N's personal secretary Miss Tuppenny.

Mountains of Madness, H.P. Lovecraft. Seriously, this guy writes CREEPY stuff. Not exactly scary, but just very creepy, intelligent stuff. By intelligent, what I mean is that for some of his stories, you would have to know and enjoy science and mathematics in order to be REALLY scared by some of his stories. Very original stuff I tell you. Although then again, some of the stories he writes are just plain weird, and it feels like you're dreaming when you're reading them. Truly awesome. ^_^

Baby-sitters club graphic novels? I'm tempted to check them out.

Well, I'm now reading the book called The Hours for my english class. It's interesting but a little confusing. Right now in class we're watching the movie Mrs. Dalloway which is what the book is based on.
Currently watching: Sailor Moon S movie

Joy! I found a copy of "Never Get You Dog Stuffed and Other Things I've Learned" by Alan Alda. He's whole life has been so fasinating! I usually hate anything non-fiction, but I guess it's impossible for me not to like it because I'm such a big fan.

On Monday I'll also be picking up the MST3K episode guide, which has tons of info. about the show; I can't wait! I still can't believe that something this cool came out of the same state I live in!
STAGE OUT!!!

Oh. My. God. I just started reading Wicked. I'm already about halfway through the book. All I have to say is. Made. Of. Awesomeness. I also really, really hope that Glinda and Elphaba become lovers at some point in the story. I know they probably don't but, it could happen! ::sweatdrops profusely::. It's also very, very odd that Elphaba looks ALOT like a fanfic character I've been designing. The wonders of this world... Is the author's other book; Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister any good?

It's probably just a coincidence that your character resembles Elphaba since Elphaba has existed as the Wicked Witch Of The West since The Wizard Of Oz was first published way back in 1900....I haven't read Confessions Of An Ugly Stepsister yet, but if you like Wicked, I recommend reading the sequel, Son Of A Witch.
"If we can''t comprehend the plan at hand, how could a higher plan make any more sense? I'd say you can only be a martyr if you know what you are dying for, and choose it"-Elphaba

"Those who made mistakes blame themselves and close their hearts. It's impossible to fix a mistake. Man can't return to the past. That's why we drink. Drunks, lushes, sliding alcohol down their throats to dilute the memories that can't be denied.-Vash The Stampede"

Shifting out of the video game books for a breif moment, I just started Controversy Creates Cash by Eric Bischoff, which explains a lot of the going-ons in WCW and related issues during the Monday Night Wars. Since that was one of the best period of times of wrestling (for me anyways), I was slightly interested, and wwe.com had a bundle deal that had the book and their "Monday Night War" DVD for less than $20, so I figure why not. I've always been interested about some of the going-ons in the business, especially around then, and always wondered how WCW collapsed. I'll probably go back to adding to my video game books after this.

Hmmm... This sounds like an interesting book! I have always preferred non-fiction to fiction, and I like economics...I'll have to give this book a try! In any case, right now I am trying to find a collection of Edgar Allan Poe's stories. I don't really like the plots of his stories, but I do like the WAY he tells them. It's awesome. :) So I take it it's alright to discuss non-fiction in this thread?

Their is one here. If a bookstore near you doesn't have it, you could probably have them get it for you if you don't want to buy on-line.

Right now I'm working through the original Foundation trilogy by Isaac Asimov.
Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you''ve got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception.

I don't see why it wouldn't be alright to talk about non-fiction books here, it's just a thread about books in general. Hell, I have yet to even mention a fiction book in this thread yet, I haven't read any fiction books in many years. It's not to say I don't like fiction, it's just right now I'm more interested in reading non-fiction about my interests.

I'm still reading the LGBT literature. (and for those who don't know, I'm actually straight).

Last I knew, it was Mabel Maney's hilarious The Hardly Boys in "A Ghost in the Closet" (which wraps up the Nancy Clue story).

Now I'm reading Daughters of an Amber Noon by Katherine V. Forrest.

In the first book in this series, four thousand lesbians and one straight woman run away from a male-dominated Earth to colonize a distant planet named Maternas. There they live in harmony, until some men come along.

This one deals with the two thousand lesbians left on Earth, who have to keep themselves hidden from a psychopathic politician. Unlike the first book, this one intersperses the epistolary novel format with some third-person omniscient.

I'm currently reading the mangas "Girls Bravo" Vols 1-6 as well as "Because I'M The Goddess" Vols 1-2.
"Oh yeah. Someone is definitely tired of breathing." ("The Main Man", Part 1)

I'm writing this Sailor Moon/Green Lantern crossover AU fic called "Emerald Sunrise". It's a hybrid of Action/Adventure, Sci-Fi, Romance, and Comedy. It's about Ami (Sailor Mercury) getting a new boyfriend who just happens to be a member of The Green Lantern Corps. I'm also throwing in some other characters from other animes and some old Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the late '60's early '70's. I'm also illustrating it as well. Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.

"Dead Man Walking!!!!!!!"
