Wow, you guys are all spoiled. *laughs* Especially you, Dan. You were my age in that post and you sounded like a little kid in a candy store. :roll:

I guess I'm strange but I've never gotten much for Christmas. My parents rarely get me much of anything, and if they do, it's usually just... money. I'm usually never asked for what I want, and if I am, it's for like one or two things maximum. Not a list. I would feel way too greedy making a list.

My family doesn't really get into the whole materialism thing. It's always been more about being together.

Honestly I can't believe so many of you are so old and yet still expect to get so much at Xmas. I've felt too old for Christmas since I was like 15.

EDIT: edited for miscommunication, since I wasn't trying to be mean or overly serious

Asking for something and actually getting is is two different things. Christmas lists are like Wish lists. It's just a list of things you'd like to have. I've always thought it was fun to see what everyone wants. It's not so much looking at it like people are wanty and greedy, but a way to see what everyone is interested in.

I've never really been greedy around the holidays. I've always prefered to give than recieve. Infact that list I made in '03 was about the only time I made a suitable christmas wishlist. Usally the only I want is to be with my Dad since he's usually gone. I might not even have that this year. I might not even spend Christmas with my brother, and this will be the first year that he won't be around.

Besides, there's nothing wrong with being a little greedy sometimes. ^^;

::Edit::
After reading that I should probably note that I wasn't trying to sound bitchy ^^;; I'm sorry if it came out that way.

I never thought I was too spoiled. Maybe a little more than others, but not majorily spoiled. Since I'm not lucky enough to be blessed with a part-time job or something like that like you or anyone else may be, I don't buy much of anything the rest of the year with the expection of maybe some manga and books, which is really cheap, anyway. The only reason why I make a wish list is because my parents never know what to get me, so they let me choose what I want and even then I never ask for anything expensive. Seriously, the most expensive thing on my list is only $58. It's not like I'm asking for a thousand Tivos, three hundred PS2s and Xboxes. Not to mention it's only my immiedate family I mainly get gifts from. I never get many presents if any at all from my other relatives when we go visit them on Christmas. If you think we're all so spoiled, why are you posting in a thread for Christmas Lists, anyway? Thank you so much. I really appreicate being called spoiled because bitching about how other people are spoiled is a much better vision of how to have the perfect Christmas holiday spirit, isn't it? :roll: Merry Christmas to you, too.

Exactly. I've been unemployed for some time and I never ask for anything what so ever. Even when an option is offered to me that I usually opt for nothing. My parents do so much for me that I feel guilty for asking for anything in return. Like you, the only time I've made lists was because my mother needs to know the things I like. I've been told that I'm hard to shop for. Even though I try to act civilized when things like this happnes, it does hurt to be refered to as 'spoiled'. Especially since I do WORK for the privialges I recieve. I save what money I do recieve all year around to do things for family. It's not muchm money, but what I can do makes me happy. So, yeah, the word spoiled does pain me.

Let's try not to start fights, ok? I didn't agree with some of the things Syphiel said, but it's not our place to flare up and start something. Intentionally or not.

You can do both, you know? My family adores being together at Christmas, but my mother also enjoys shopping for us, very much. I'm 23 years old, and even though I haven't given my mom an official list (she always asks for one, but this year, I can't think of anything specific), and she has already gone shopping for me twice. Id idn't ask her to...she does it becuase she enjoys it.

It's okay to be in your 20's and still enjoy the little kid aspect of Christmas ^_^ My brother is 25, and I still wake him up early and we sneak around the house, and deliberately become loud to wake up my parents. It's just fun to act like a kid again during that time. I think that's why so many of us get into it liek we do.

A lot of times, our parents ask for these lists, too. I know mine does.

Either way, everybody spends christmas differently, and there is no right or wrong way. Let's just all be civilized, and since this is a thread about christmas lists, let people post in the thread without anybody arguing.

I love posting these lists. I know that I'm not likely to get most of them, but I love dreaming. Like when I was a kid with the sears christmas catalog. Remember those? My family never had enough money to indulge too much. However I love to shop for my sister during this time. She's autisic and it's just so fun to give her things i know she'll adore. It makes me feel good to see her smile.

Well, since the list is back, I'll start! I'm hoping for...

-Clamp no Kiseki vol 4 and 5
-Garfield and Friends Volume 5
-Urusei Yatsura OVAs
-Ah My Goddess series
-Ultra Maniac series

Mostly I just want my boyfriend and peace on earth!

I remember I used to get a sharpie and circle all the stuff I liked. XD I never got like..any of it, except for maybe one or two things, but it was always fun to dream, as you said.

And that's so sweet about your sister.

Being a kid in a candy store is fun. Everyone has to have their own outlet for fun, otherwise we'd explode. And then we'd even make exploding boring. ^_^;

I make all sorts of wish lists, but it's just for kicks. I never give the lists to anyone, and I usually end up buying whatever may be on my list myself once I've saved enough money. It doesn't seem right to ask for anything, especially after certain events in my life. That doesn't stop me from wanting special things, though.

Everyone wants special things now and then, whether or not they ask for them. Making a list of them doesn't make someone spoiled. Asking for them doesn't make someone spoiled. Being ungrateful for the gifts received is what makes a person spoiled.

It is nice that your family is focused on getting together. If more families were like that, we would all be much better off. ^_^

I am a toy whore, and as such, most of the things I want are figureines. Specifically, Peachy will be very happy if she gets:

-Sally from the Nightmare Before Christmas figure
-6 inch Victor and Victoria figures (I have The Corpse Bride on my desk and she looks so lonely).
-Any of the 3 inch Corpse Bride figure boxsets.
-12 inch Mr.Pink and Mr.White dolls (sorry, but if it has cloth clothing it's a doll to me :P) from Reservoir Dogs.
-Maybe some Kill Bill figures, but I'll probably go get these myself before Christmas comes ^^;

I'll probably ask for some gift certificates to A&B Sound and art stores.

Same here, except I used the Toys' R Us flyer. My family didn't get Sears catalogs. I think my parents have a home movie somewhere with a little five year old version of me going "I want this Barbie doll, and this Lego, and this, and this ^______________________^"

Lighten up you guys. I was kidding. I guess I should have put a *laughs* or something in there after the first line, but I really did mean it unseriously.

Besides, if you didn't notice, I was aiming the rolling of eyes at Dan. If I'm not allowed to make fun of him, who is? ;)

Kidding. I don't care if anyone here makes fun of me, I enjoy it as much as anyone. Hell, I make fun of myself at times. Always feel free to take shots at me, I don't care, and that does go for everyone. ^^;;; Lighten up, everything's all good.

Another catalog I used to flip through a lot and put on my lists as a kid was the old American Girl Collection catalogs. They had the books, the dolls and accesories. Even had some outfits like the characters that you could wear. I used to sit for hours and wish. Call me crazy, but the dolls were so adoreable.

If I could, I'd still put that on my list. The Felicity doll and all her accesories. The little colonial tea set is soo cute!

OMG. I loved those. I had a couple of the dolls, actually. Felicity was one of them, she was my favorite. ^_^ I had always wanted the accessories and stuff too (but never had them for obvious reasons :p).

Pretty much everything else I was into as a kid was boy-oriented ^^;; (action figures, toy cars, video games, etc.) but I definitely loved the American Girl stuff. Too cute.
