I Love Toys!

Post by DreamEmpress » Tue Mar 07, 2006 4:58 am

As some of you may know, VH1 is doing another I Love show. This time they are spending all week counting down 100 most memorable toys. Now whether or not you consider it a good memory or not, well that's for you to decide.

I just got through seeing 100-81. To my surprise and joy they listed Care Bears and My Little Pony. The two toys I definatley remember fondly. I owned Brave Heart Lion and Cheer Bear as a kid. Now I have Bedtime Bear, Grumpy, Friend Bear and Wish Bear. I just like collecting them.

Others included Spirograph, ouiji board, magic 8 ball and the bb gun. Frankly I never really considered spirograph all that great. It's like those fashion plates, not a lot of personal artistic talent required. Although I did always want a magic 8 ball as a kid. everyone else was playing with them.

ouiji board...that just kind of freaked me out.

Anyway, I just wondered what your thoughts were on the count down. And if you have any other favorite or least favorite toys you want to talk about.

Everything else you mentioned after My Little Pony and Care Bears (how were you surprised about the first?! Of COURSE they'd have it! xDD) I have never heard of in my life- except magic eight ball.
But never owned.
Or seen in real life. xD;

How high do you think the chances are of them showing a Sailor Moon toy?

My Little Pony. I was a definite fanatic of them. I had the movies, the houses, the clothes, accessories, and two huge tubs of over 100 ponies. ^^;;;

I was also heavy into Barbies, Care Bears, and Strawberry Shortcake. Of course, with two brothers, I was also playign with plenty of GI Joes, He-man toys, and such. XD

This might be a cute program to catch.

Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I wasn't surprised they made the list itself, I was more surprised how low on the list. I thought for sure they'd be closer to 50 or 40.

So what are the odds that Barbie will make it to the top 10, if not the actual top spot? I'll scream if I see Elmo.

They had a toy called Wooly Willie at 81. Until this aired, I didn't know what that toy did. not that it really does much.

I used to have a polly pocket doll. but that was back when she first started. I wanna see if the Pixie Tails make it or Cherry Merry Muffin.

Toys? My favorite toy? Computers, and most sound, video equiment for me.... I've got a bunch of action figures and other such toys that I've never played with at all.

P.S. anyone got a programmable robot that would be my personal server? :twisted:

I have most of my childhood toys in a box under my bed. It's sort of become my 80's memorbillia box.

Back in the day I was all about Ninja Turtles, although for some reason I only had one figure. I also had a number of Barbie dolls. Does anyone remember those four Super Mario Brothers 3 toys MacDonald's gave away when the game came out? I still have those. All four of them ^_______^. I also had these two dolls with these weird skirts and hats. You'd fold them up and put the hat on top and they'd look like cupcakes. I think they were scented to. Can't remember what they were called though.

Who knows? They had a "Hot in Japan" segment that showed off Voltron, Hello Kitty, and Astro Boy.

Some of the toys they showed took me back. Like Sea Monkeys. Always got those. I remeber my mom spilled them while she was vacumming. I was all upset. Hehe.

When I was younger, I always had... dolls. Mermaids, acutally. Everything mermaids. I had EVERY Little Mermaid toy. Really, I did. I always got made fun of at school because of that. "Mermaid-boy", that was my nickname. ;__;

Now I'm just "Sailor Moon". The pain never ends. *sniff*

Did the first one actually air already? Darn, I wanted to watch that.

I still collect My Little Pony. I buy the new ones now *.*

Every episode reairs daily. So if you miss it, you can easily catch up. They reair in order and by friday it'll be like 5 hours of episodes straight.

I always knew those cupcake dolls as just that, cupcake dolls. My sister and I got them for christmas from my grandparents. I had the blue berry one. I loved her.

They listed Rainbow Brite today. Yay! I loved her as a kid. I was just sad when mom wouldn't buy me one of the dolls. They also mentioned slip and slide. i wanted one of those too. Either that or Crocodile mile. sadly, twas not meant to be.

Candy Land, another listed one. Loved that as a kid. Unfortunatly I stink at it. Everytime I played it with my little sister, she'd win. I don't know how she did it. I suspect fowl play. *shifty eyes*

Did anyone own a baby alive doll? Frankly I really wasn't into it. Some things I'd rather not have my dolls do. But i still do own some smurf figurines!

Techinically my set's incomplete because I'm missing the pump that makes the Koopa Troopa's wings move ;_;. But that Goomba toy, I thought that was the shit growing up. I'm mean it did a freaking back flip. Who wouldn't find that endlessly amusing.

Was Littlest Pet Shop the toy that came with little puppy or kitty figures? If it's what I'm thinking off, then I had an orange cat that came with four kittens and a bed. I loved those figures and I have no clue where they went T_T.

*And off topic, but am I the only one who thought of Petshop of Horrors when they saw the words Littlest Pet Shop? I sense a creepy crossover possibility >_>*
