Did anyone watch the Oscars this weekend? What are your opinions? Did you think those who won deserved to win? Personally, I didn't agree with the choise for Best Song, but I think everything else was nice. What about you?

I was watching the pre show to see all the dresses. I think Keira Knightly had the nicest dress that night. And Ben Stiller was hilarious with his green screen suit.

I only watched the first hour of the actual awards show though. I was kind of disappointed that Corpse Bride didn't win best animated picture, and that Charlie and The Chocolate Factory didn't get best costume (although Memoirs of a Geisha was my second choice out of the other movies and I'm glad it won).

I'm suprised Sin City didn't get nominated for anything (especially for best graphics or whatever catergory it would go into for it's green screen techniques).

One thing I am pissed off about though is that none of Danny Elfman's soundtracks were even nominated for best score, yet Brokeback Mountain not only gets nominated, but wins. That is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen, and I'm beginning to think the whole "jealousy" rumours are true.

I didn't watch the oscars. I need award!!! Ooooh. My liver... Seriousily, they're really hasn't been very many insersting movies in my opion.

I'm inclined to agree with George C. Scott, who refused to accept the Oscar for Patton, calling the show a meat parade.

The 5 movies they nominated for Best Picture were movies I have no interest in seeing. Nor, I think, did most of the country. Want a better list of BP noms: how about Chronicles of Narnia, Star Wars III, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Batman Begins, and Harry Potter and the GoF. Those are movies real people saw.

But what really ticks me off is that the people at that show actually believe that their movies are saving the world: that Brokeback Mountain is going to make people more accepting of homosexuality or that Munich is going to make people think twice about Israel. As though Philadelphia did more for the anti-AIDS cause than the discrimination trial itself. A VP at the studio that made Good Night and Good Luck, said, "Our product is social change, and the movies are a vehicle for that social change." Talk about ego! Yes, it won't be a world leader or a scientist who makes things better, it'll be Hollywood! Probably Sean Penn, since he's been to Iraq *and* post-Katrina New Orleans. Give me a break. I don't like Jon Stewart much, but at least he put things in perspective after the montage of "issue movies" by sarcastically saying, "And none of those were ever an issue. . . again!"

According to the site, it says that the Oscars will be on in 14 days and 15:14:09.

I'm excited for this year's, the nominees are to be announced a week from today. Although I haven't really seen a flat out ZOMFG THIS WILL GET BEST PICTURE! But I think it might be Slumdog Millionaire that will take it home, since it did well in the Golden Globes but who knows. I heard Hugh Jackman will be hosting the Oscars. I hope Heath Ledger gets nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
