This topic has been inspired by the various auctions in the "WTF" topic, as well as by my current growing interest with this auction system.

I have just started looking into it, since I now can use my Paypal account, and I'm pretty happy so far (now, if that person would just let me win those dolls I'm bidding on, aha) .

What are your experiences with Ebay ? Did you already buy something (whatever it is ?) ? If you didn't buy, what's preventing you from doing so (provided you have alreasy browsed the site and found stuff you'd like) ? Whatever you can tell us about what you think of and have gone through with Ebay, I'll be happy to read about it.

A few notes, though:

- This topic has been pre-approved by Tiff via PM. I asked if we could post links to auctions, and she didn't decline. Which means, you may post links to things you bought *or* your own auctions, but please do so at the bottom end of your post (if you post your own auctions) so as to avoid abusing Tiff's kindess (if the mods consider this is being abused, I will be more than happy to see the posts edited and/or the thread locked).

With that said, post ahead n_n !

(I was thinking this was rhyming, but was this even good spelling ?) yeah, poetic mood. I don't even know if "post ahead" is correct, lol

For the most part, I really like ebay. You can find a lot of stuff on there, and non-rare stuff goes for pretty good prices. Buying is generally good, I just really hate it when someone bids within the last seconds of an auction and you can't overbid them in time. There was a couple nice things I sadly didn't win because of that. There should be a small minute or two extension if someone pulls that imo. All except one of my buying experiences has been good, I pay them quickly and they ship quickly. I've only had one guy screw me over, and no help from ebay or paypal to get my money back even when following their instructions. Since buddy's account was revoked they couldn't do anything for me. BS imo, but that's a really rare case where they actually revoke someone's account. They do have a good setup to make sure people don't get screwed, but I was a rare flaw in the system. >.<

Selling stuff is pretty easy to do. Unless you have something really rare and sought after, you shouldn't expect to get too much money. Only pretty rare and uncommon stuff get's good money (except my rare and uncommon stuff >.< ) so you should be prepared to not get that much. It is a good way to get rid of things if you need to. You just have to hope you get a good buyer who will send payment fast and then be sure you ship out your item fast too.

I've never really done anything on Ebay, but I'm only 16. *sweatdrop* my parents, I don't know what exactly they use, and I've only used play-asia.com to get Fire Emblem 6.

and Dan, here's a comic similar to the bidding thing:

I've been buying alot off of ebay lately...

lesse...

From either eBay or Yahoo! Japan Auctions (through Akibado), I've bought a ton of Megami Magazine back issues, mostly without problems (and none that weren't resolved). And I mean a ton... I think I've nearly doubled the number of issues I own.

Plus I got this moe moe Saber-chan bath towel from eBay.

Plus I've snagged both volumes of the novel Kara no Kyokai (even though I can't read Japanese) and the Fate/Stay night Premium Fanbook from eBay.

I think I'll be nuts in no time, lol.

I've been bidding on five Sailor Moon dolls for the last couple of days. (no links for now, the auction is ending in less than 30 minutes anyway).

Look at that:
poupee sailor moon neuve en boite sailor jupiter 1992
10,50 EUR 10,00 EUR --
poupee sailor moon neuve en boite sailor mars 1992
14,50 EUR 10,00 EUR --
poupee sailor moon neuve en boite sailor mercure 1992 10,50 EUR 10,00 EUR -- poupee sailor moon neuve en boite sailor moon 1992
9,50 EUR 10,00 EUR --
poupee sailor moon neuve en boite sailor venus 1992
10,50 EUR 10,00 EUR --
The prices on the left are the current auctions. The prices on the right are my maximum bids. I was thinking I'd get the whole set, to have the five senshi. I wanted to get Jupiter more, but I was really set on not spending more than ten euros on each doll, cause they started at 1 euro each and I got to the auctions when they were around 4 euros each maybe.

Gaaaaah XD . Now, I'm apparently left with only one doll, which doesn't please me cause it's Sailor Moon and, while I love her too, it means I'll be stuck with one senshi for this price instead of the whole set T_T . Yesterday I had found a set of dolls, but I didn't win it. Baaaaaah.

I'll post links to bizarre auctions I found later. Like, someone wanted to sell a "Four Sailor Moon Dolls set" or something, and when you look at the auction, you have a Mei-Lin and a Shaoran from CCS, a really tiny Mercury and a large Uranus. Some people u_u ...

EDIT: I'll actually post links to cute stuff I found, lol. After all :P ...

UFO Catcher lot with Mercury, Jupiter and Moon. So cute! Ends in 23 hours or something.

The PGSM Henshin Bracelet. You can't really read what it says cause it's in Taiwanese, apparently (my Ebay just lets me see question marks, lol) but it seems to be the real thing. 7 days and 20 hours n_n

Edited to add 2: Call me evil if you like, but apparently I'm going to win four dolls out of five. See the 14.50 in my quote thing ? The person apparently wants it really much. I managed to make the auction go up to 25 euros... and I'm still outbidded. Gaah. I'll let the person pay this price... >.<
ETA 3 : (won't make my post count go crazy just cause I found new Sailor Moon auctions, lol).

PGSM Sailor Moon Wand

PGSM Princess Harp

Talking Sailor Jupiter Doll

And now, two examples of why I'm still cautious with my purchasing, aha :D ... first, Sailor Saturn gashapon bidders gone crazy, Click here to see and second, some person trying to pass figurines off as Sailor Moon when it clearly isn't, Gaaaaaah @_@ .

My experience with ebay was not a very good one, in my opinion. When I tried to register for an account so I could bid on things, it told me that I was required to give them a credit card number for some reason. The problem with this is that I don't have a credit card, hence I had to forego an account on ebay. I was trying to get a copy of Sailor Moon Stars from there, too. Ebay is also the only place I know to get one.

So no, if I want to order anything off the internet, I order from Amazon.com.

Odd... I have an account on eBay, but I didn't need to give them any of my credit card info.

w/o a credit card though, you're kinda hosed. Several auctions require a PayPal account, as that requires a credit card to at least register.

P.S.: I hope "Sailor Moon Stars" you were trying to get weren't the DVD's. eBay is the absolute last place you want to go for DVD's or anything that's on a Compact Disc (CD's, PS2, etc.) as that place is overrun with bootlegs.

As for the rest of the merch, well, just "buyer beware" anyway. Do try to fugure out if what you're bidding on is legit or not.

I never got that when I register for an account on ebay. My experience with them are very good. I got my Sailor Moon DvDs I wanted to which I got them for a cheap price. :)

I registered for my account the regular way you register for stuff. They only wanted my Credit Card info when I asked to open a "seller" account, which I didn't do at once. The options were: 1) you give CC info and you can open your seller account at once, or 2) you ask to get a special code via snail mail and you use it to activate your seller account.

I chose the second option. I've been thinking that, despite the fees by Paypal and Ebay, it might be a good option to sell things I no longer use or that could be rare enough to make the sale interesting. :P .

Who knows. ^^;; Maybe I'll be lucky. I'm already preparing the code for some objets I want to put on sale XD .

I bought most of my anime and manga off Ebay. I say it's pretty damn good. So far I haven't been screwed by it, so it's all good.

I think I've recently become an eBay junkie. I've been buying all sorts of old coins, and I've come to really enjoy beating people at the last second. *evil laugh*
