Well, by 5, they really SHOULD know how. If they don't, then there's something seriously wrong.

But either way...as a teacher? No. NO NO NO NO NO. Just..no. Not only is it unsanitary (for the very reason you mentioned..even if a child knows how to wipe herself, she's still going to have a string crammed up her ass all day..and kids are dirty.) And what now? If the little girl bends over, and her string shows, should we expect the little boys to go "DAAAYUM. CHECK OUT DAT ASS"?

We're trying to turn younger and younger girls into women. It really sickens me.

No, but would it really surprise you if little boys started talking like that? Little girls are dressing like little tramps, and I can't even remember how many times I've heard young kids talking like that (bad language I mean).

No, it doesn't. I've heard some pretty interesting things coming out of the mouths of little boys. -_- like a 4 year old talking about my boobs and ass, and anothr four year old calling me a bitch.

But now that I remember, just last month my mom and I were strolling around at the mall and we overheard a bunch of ladies that were at least in their 30s oogling over how cute a baby girl was... WHILE DRESSING LIKE A WOMAN OF THAT AGE GROUP. Yes, she was wearing high heels, a sun hat, a black miniskirt, and a black tank top (not spaghetti straps, with thick straps). I was pretty disgusted. My mom, on the other hand, with her unsurpassable irrational love for babies, thought that was the cutest thing in the world. *twitch* *shudder* *spasm* *seizure*

I guess my overall conclusion is that AT LEAST elementary schools should definitely have uniforms. It's about we got those kids and their parents back on track.

Tiff-san, if I was in your position, I would have slapped both of those boys upside the head, and as hard as I could have too. And I wouldn't have given a shit if I lost my job over it. And let their parents complain about it all they want, because I would have asked them if they know what their four year old children are saying to people, and then I would have told them that I wasn't sorry I hit them.

I don't like school uniforms... I'm a clothes person. I'd grow tired of wearing the same damn uniform everday, and seeing all the other girls wearing the same exact uniform as me. I would've hated wearing one in grade school. The dresscode at the time worked for the most part.

Aw man....will being "sexy" (in other words, skanky) and "ghetto" ever go "Out"? They've been going on far too long, we need to put innocence back "In' season and KEEP it in season! Either that, or wait for the next ice age and some people will learn to put some clothes on.
And the music today! Seriously, I don't care if your boy's girlfriend isn't hot like you, you egotistic skank! (I'm talking to the singer here, so we're clear on that). And "there's going to be a girl fight"? Right, so now we're telling young girls that we need to bitch-fight each other because the guys like it. The only song on the radio that I actually like is the Untitled by Simple Plan, THAT is the kind of song that should be played more often.
The Facts of the Animal Kingdom:
"Zebras can bite."
"Snakes say sss."
"Lions chase people."
And of course…”Tigers bite you.”
--From Tiffu’s Pre-K students. =D
And one from me...Leopards are gorgeous.

Oh dear lord please don't play that awful song any more than it already is. No offense but I cant stand Simple plan. :( And as for that sexy "skanky" clothing you have a valid point. :)

Hm, I don't like school uniforms, I'd think it would be awesome if I was able to wear what I want in school, but I rather like my junior high ones.
Very nice, unlike my first grade one... it was a black and white checker pattern that made me dizzy.

Thongs...? My dad for some reason loves buying them for me. I hate them. x.x;; Why? Why would they make one of those for little kids?!

I got called several bad names by boys who were less then five years of age, most because I hadn't noticed when I bumped into them. And when I do, I usually apalogize and help them up and then they INSULT me.

Eurgh, bratty little boys...

I once saw a girl at the mall, little girl, couldn't be more then six, dressed in a very tight very tiny mid-riff revealing shirt and nearly see-through 'skirt.' I was disgusted.

^That is certainly... weird to me.

And yeah little girls shouldn't be wearing thongs. o_O;; But besides that I have no problem with them. Hell I wear thongs sometimes because I hate seeing panty lines showing through capri pants and skirts.

My dad would buy pretty anything, he doesn't really look at them. If they're my size, he'd buy them, whatever they are. o_o;;

o.O I dunno, my dad's never bought my panties...ever. maybe when I was a baby, but...o_O;;

Especially by age 13. By then, you're definitely old enough to shop for underwear with your mom, or even by yourself.

Er, I don't really have a mom... -cough- ^^;; And I do shop by myself when I can even if I hate shopping, but my dad /likes/ shopping for me.

He's the one who picked my school uniform, THEN asked me if I liked it.

His bathroom is full of make-up and things that my maid thought it was my mom's or something when she first came here.

Heh, I really liked the uniform he picked out, only one problem... here the pattern or color of your uniform tells which grade you're in. I had a high school uniform (silver) when I was supposed to have a junior high uniform (brown.)

Okay, you don't have a mom. Sorry for that mistake...and I can understand how a dad would want to be involved..to an extent. Underwear is personal, especially for a young lady..and at thirteen, you're just about there.

.....Why...is your dad's....bathroom...
....never mind. That's offtopic. o_O;;

back on topic, including Tiffu. ^^;

I was wondering when a topic like this would come up. On the subject of what little girls wear nowadays....I think it's beyond insane and I agree with everyone. My kids are going to dress like kids, even if I have to go and find modest clothing at the thrift store. I want them to enjoy being kids.

As for my personal opinion on school uniforms, I think it's a good idea. My school experience clothes wise has always been a nightmare from one year to the next. A lot of my clothes in middle and high school were from discount and thrift stores or I got them from friends who were a year or two older and had out grown them. I remember one outfit had a stain that was perminate when i recieved it and I was teased every time I wore it. Then there was my 4th grade year when my parents made me wear a pair of velcro boys sneakers. I understand why they did (finance reasons and such) but it didn't take away the teasing. Finally, through most of my high school years, my friends at school and at church were getting on my case about styling my hair and trying make-up. Frankly I was fine not wearing make-up because I grew up being told that I'm beautiful with or without it and if I wanted to wear a headband for my personal look, then it was my choice. Now try convincing everyone else of that.

From all the manga and anime I've seen, I would have loved to wear the uniforms they had, at least they had different styles. So many cute ones too!

In school I hated the thought of uniforms, I will be honest. Every uniform I had seen growing up looked the same and that didn't exactly make me excited about the thought. I was using the argument about it robbing me of my expression and all that. But in the last few years when I think about it, that really doesn't hold much weight. I mean, clothes aren't really who you solely are. It's who you are on the inside that matters and whether you're wearing a uniform or just regular clothes, that's going to shine through. Besides, like some of you were saying, there's always a way to express yourself even in a uniform. and when you're in school, the last thing you need is pressure about what you're wearing and it showing your 'status'. And in case you've forgotten, there are a lot of jobs out there that have dress codes or uniforms and people still find ways to make it work for them. If anything this should help you expand your creativity.

As for whether or not it can help you learn better, there's no real answer to that. Some people can relax and learn better when they're now worrying about their clothes. Others just refuse to learn no matter what you do. But if they are in uniform, at least they won't be distracted by all the skimpy outfits.

And I don't understand why people like them at all. Please, someone tell me what's so great about a piece of string up your ass? If I want that I'll consult my sewing kit, not blow a good $15 on it.
LMAO!
But anyways, I am sort of for against dress code. I think kids in JH and up should be allowed to wear what they want. Seeing how kids are getting sluttier and sluttier, I think elementary students should be required to wear school uniforms. But I know I wouldn't like it if we had uniforms. I shop at A&F, Hollister, AE, and Aeropostale and I do think some of the clothes at those places are just trashy. But these stores are made for teens you know and that is the age you should start making your own decisions.

I've never been a fan of the whole uniform thing. I like being able to come to school in what I want and just be comfortable. But kids these days are going crazy, there wouldn't be a need for uniforms if they just followed the dress code.
