All schools in England all have a uniform, I personally would be very surprised if i came upon one that the students could wear what they wanted.
While i hate MY uniform (blazer, shirt type shirt, sensible shoes, sensible belt buckles, no make-up, tie done properly, shirt tucked in, no extreme hair styles or jewlery), that is mostly because it makes me look like a boy with longish hair, for a boy anyway.
But i think that if we diddnt have uniform over here, i would complain and ASK for a uniform, for the simple fact that i usually dont like what i have and i make it a kind of hobby to rule against authority that i do not like.
Yes, anyway, uniforms are equalisers, and everyone has the right to be equal and not be singled out (even though i dont wear the blazer, i wear the jumper, which NO-ONE else wears, i like to be different than other people) and picked on because of it.
If we had no uniform, then the bullies would most ceartainly find their next prey to pick on. The person with the "out of date" clothes, "out of fashion" or ones that do not "show off their figure" (providing they are female of coarse)
And, mostly, we must not forget that what most other girls bully other girls about, is what they look like, my uniform hides any weird abnormalities or small breasts or big, everyone just looks like a boy (that is why i choose not to wear the padded shoulderd blazers and the jumper) and normal clothes, unless they are very baggy, will not hide anything like that.
Even when we have a non uniform day at our school (VERY rare!!) it is called a Dress Down Day, because all we are allowed to come in is jeans/sensible pants, and a t-shirt.
anyway, to conclude, i believe that uniforms are equalisers, and everyone has the right to be the same and not singled out because they are different.
Plus.
I'm from the young generation, and i dont have any impulse to go out and dress like a slut, maybe its just me, but I prefer to cover my curves instead of flash them.
I think i'm rarther backward, i would rarther dress like a victorian than a modern-day-girl.
I'm 13 now, and my mum would have NEVER dressed me in inapropriate clothes.
Here in England, there are a lot of, well, rarther large people going round in hipster pants and boob-tubes.
and i just want to say "EEWW!" its disgusting! dont their mother tell them that fat is hanging down from their trousers?!
anyway back on topic, i would definetly prefer a "sailor fuku"to our blazers and ties! all that i want is a skirt not too short!
