Only posted in video form because every single news report appears to have disappeared (about a day after it was posted too).

If you do a Google Group search on the name, you'll find two references to a story People ran on her in 2001.
Wow. that's really fascinating, actually. Stuff like that really makes me wonder and think...I'd like to see where she is in a year or so.
Hugging is teh Evil!!!!!!1111111

Okay, I can understand if students were groping each other while hugging, but come on. I wonder if it's just boyfriends and girlfriends who can't hug, or if it's with friends as well. Either way this gets a 8.5 on the WTF-o-metre.
I've never heard of that rule in any of the schools where I live. That just sounds stupid to me. Granted, you are in school to learn, not necessarily to socialize, but there are not many other places for students to socialize at. I wouldn't care if they were simply hugging.
As stupid as it may be, quite a few schools have adopted similar policies, especially in High School. In some way, I can kind of understand why...it's sad that they have those kinds of rules in effect, but it's largely due to the fact that you DO find a lot of boys and girl groping eachother in school lately...it's becoming out of hand. This is coming from someone who graduated from a high school in Texas, which is one of the top five in the nation for teen pregnancy. In order to end the extreme circumstances where teens DO have sex in the bathroom (it happens, all the time), they have to go as far as to ban "prolonged hugging". It's sad, but...i can see why they do it.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Oh, okay, that sort of makes sense to me. At my school "hugging" like that never really happens. 99% of the hugging is mostly between friends and the super happy quirky girls who hug everyone. I just interpreted the article as "they won't let friends hug cause it's bad"

You make a good point there, Tiff-san. I still think it's stupid, but whatever it takes to make people stop having sex in the bathrooms works for me.

Hah, we have a 'COMPLETELY NO HUGGING AT ALL not even for two seconds' rule at my school. An all girl school.

In my high school there was a "NO public displays of affection" rule. This included, but was not limited to: holding hands, kissing, hugging, "prolonged hugging/kissing," arms-over-the-shoulders while walking/sitting next to another person (the rational for this was it blocks hallway traffic), arms around the waist, "clinging," and (get this) SHARING LOCKERS (instated because it made locker searches difficult). If you had a boyfriend/girlfriend, you could basically TALK to them, and that was it. Maybe you could wave a little. I dunno.

I can top that story. There's a guy in my class that broke his arm from jacking off. I'm not kidding. He's been breaking his arms since at least the fifth grade and always saying what happened to cause it, but this time he wouldn't say anything because it was, and I quote, "To embarrassing to say". The exchange student who lives with him finally told a few people what really happened. He's got a cast from his hand up to just below the elbow. It's quite hilarious actually.

Yeah, that's my little WTF of the day ^_^

Edit: XD Yay!! My 1000 post. I never thought I'd use it for a story like this.

Amen to that. I do have a wtf story of the weekend actually. Well, so far. Yesterday at Otafest, I went to the dealer room and saw pgsm DVDs. You could get the entire series on three discs for $60 Canadian. Itt had Chinese and English subtitles. I knew immediately that it was a bootleg, but I wanted to yank the vendor's chain just for the hell of it. So I asked him, "are these DVDs legitimate? Are they from Japan?" and then he tried to convince me that they were importe d from Japan. I mentioned that the DVDs look nothing like the ones I ordered from CD Japan. Then he was like, "well.....". Finally another person working there interrupted him and told me that it was a bootleg. It was fun to piss the guy off.

I'm amazed Otafest allows that. At Project A-kon and Ushicon in Texas, you are not allowed to have bootlegs at your dealers table, of any shape or form. This includes EVERYTHING, from tapes to DVDs to wallscrolls. If bootlegs are found, you will be thrown out.

I think this goes here, pretty much... I don't have a WTF story, but I do have a couple of WTF movies. Napoleon Dynamite, for example...I watched it. The whole thing. And at the end, I just went "WTF?" I mean, seriously...what was it even ABOUT? Eh? Hmm. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was like that, too, but in a good way. Damn that's a wacky movie, Napoleon Dynamite. I can't even decide whether I liked it or not.

Wow, I'm quite surprised at that. Animethon allows bootlegs as well. However, last year at Animethon, someone called the police about the bootlegs. Other vendors were really pissed off the Gift Gate and a few others were selling bootlegs of licenced series that the legitimate vendors were selling. Then the police came in and seized all the bootlegs. I wasn't there at the time, but this kind of sounds like something that came out of a movie or something.

Well, it makes sense, if you think about it. These conventions don't want a bad reputation, and they don't want any legal ramifactions (such as what you mentioned above) against them from selling bootlegs. I"m not against buying bootlegs, but I can understand why such a large convention as Project A-kon would ban them.

Hardcore gamers turn back or else you'll die of envy

My God that's a lot of games. I'd love to live in that house. I think my favorite part is the nintendo bench in the first picture.

I like the 5-tiered wall unit full of games. It's like geological strata: "Here in the early Cretaceous Period, we only had 16 bits, wheras in the Mesozoic above, we advance to 64."
Things I think Are Funny Early in the Morning: If Batman were a Smurf: "Quick, Robin! We must smurf down to the Batcave and smurf the Batplane! Then we must smurf the batsmurf so we can smurf where the Joker is smurfing!"

The Croonerism Spate (explanations upon request)
Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

I have a new god now. *bows to this gamer's 1337-ness and seemingly endless wallet* This will be a great goal for my life once I get a house of my own.

Heh, he was watching the SMB3 cartoon in that last pic, kickass.
