They don't need to, they have political seats and television spots to get their point accross.

That's a pretty big difference. People can hate all they want IMO and use any means to communicate their hate, but not to act on it. In a free society, even hate deserves a seat at the table. The moment you take up arms in the cause of that hate, you forfeit that right.

Look, all I'm saying is it offends me a lot more to say, "we're taxing your paycheck to pay for the health care of people in prison" than to say "I don't think atheists should be considered as citizens." Because with the latter I'm still here and just as atheistic as ever, but with the former I'm still out the money.

Those are some pretty influential people saying these things. When influential people incite hate, they do not have to take up arms themselves, because someone will do it for them. How many Christians do you think the Emperor of Rome killed with his bare hands? How many Jews do you think Hitler killed all by his lonesome?

Think of all of the parents who align their views with this kind of garbage and then go on to teach their children to hate. Then that kid turns into a teenager and beats a gay classmate to death. Hate begets violence.

The Islamic extremists do the same thing. They blast their propaganda and tell each generation what to think, instead of thinking for themselves. This brings about an ever growing movement of hatred, murder, genocide, and "holy" wars.

Whether or not it is greatly offensive to you, it is still not something that can be considered a mere political issue. It is the distortion of they very fundamentals of Christianity, and the corruption of God knows how many people. Words have the power to take lives.

The father admitted hitting the boy, but said it was because the boy used profanity, police said.

This WTF happened to my aunt while she was out biking with my uncle. A bunch of guys in a car with Florida plates PURPOSELY ran her off the road. To add insult to injury, they proceeded to HOOT AND HOLLOR!

I have never played GTA before, but from what I've heard, this argument makes little sense. I can't see why Hillary is going off about a mod for a game that's not supposed to be sold to or played by little kids. Besides that, we have more to worry about than little kids getting their grubby paws on a sex scene.

Peach: Meh, German rock is cool..and I'm surprised you've never heard "Du Hast" o_O Rammstein was really popular in the 90's, and still is fairly prominent. Du Hast was played on quite a few radio stations in the states..was it not in Canada?

Becuase obviously video games are SO much more influential than the everyday stuff on tv. Oh, and obviously we're supposed to IGNORE the carefully placed ratings and instead be outraged when we're surprised by the violence, sex, and cursing that comes with the Mature video game. Gasp!

You know, I seriously want to slap people who say that the media is affecting children. The Chaser did a hilarious piece on it (saying a Through The Windows segment on Play School inspired a rise in "toddler lesbianism") last year.

The media can affect children. The problem is, nobody's regulating or monitering what their children are doing, watching, or playing anymore. A toddler or a grade school child is VERY impressionable. If you DO put GTA or a violent movie in front of them, it CAN and most likely WILL affect them in some psychological way. Their earliest years are their "windows of learning", as we call it, and everything is soaked in like a sponge.

The issue isn't whether or not media and violence affect children..because it does. The issue is getting parents to understand and follow the very helpful rating systems and to start RAISING their kids, rather than dumping them in front of the tv wtih a random video they picked up that's...oh, look..rated R.
