I dunno about all of you, but what do you think of adults yelling at their kids in public places? and while the parents are yelling, the kids are still crying and throwing tantrums.

Kids especially toddlers are gonna throw tantrums, its a fact. They tend to not know how to properly respond to things that dont go their way. But yelling at them especially around others is a surefire way to make a bad situation worst. The last time my son acted out I found a public restroom where I took him and calmed him down. I dont think its wise to scream at a child in public it sets a bad example and it does not calm the child down.
"Have you been half asleep? And have youve heard voices?
I hear them calling my name."
Is this the sweet sound, that calls the young sailors?
The voice maybe one in the same.
Ive heard it too many times to ignore it,
its something that I sposed to be..
Someday we''''ll find it, the rainbow connection
The lover, the dreamer, and me..."

Not only that, but people do turn around and stare if it does happen in public. I like how you handled it, took your child to a restroom to calm him down. *sigh* Is it just me, or does it seem that some parents these days don't know how to parent?

I dont get it either Ive seen it before to and the kids always end up for the worst. To me its alot easier to take my child to a private place and let him calm down then to get loud have him cry more and look like a complete maniac. But the sad thing is the people who do it probably were yelled at as kids to and are repeating themselves. I know I used to get yelled at but it had the reverse effect I dont like to get loud unless I absolutely have to now.

It also depends on your definition of "yelling". One of the ways I discipline my Pre-K kids when they're having a tantrum/doing somethign wrong is I raise my voice just a little bit (enough to make them hear it through THEIR yelling) and firmly said "NO. We do NOT do that. Stop it, right now." It's usually very effective if put into place from the beginning.

Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

The "yelling" I was talking about was not the way you mentioned. The "yelling" I'm mentioning is when they place it at the end and usually ineffective, not placed at the beginning like you mentioned.

I never understood how screaming at your child- especially in public- could be considered a good idea. How can a child possibly calm down when someone is angry and yelling? Tantrums in young children are natural, and copying their behavior isn't going to help at all.

Hehe it was on my yahoo to and I dunno why im in South Carolina. I loved the part where the parents talk about how their son stood up in a Japanese resturant and sang the anthem and others joined in. Im sure the people of that country got a kick out of that there. People are crazy and articles like this just confirm it lol.

Crap and I'm going to take some swimming lessons next week or sometime over the summer.

EDIT: Read this

First thing I saw on my yahoo homepage. I had a WTF reaction at first, and then it sounds like a good idea, but probably not for a country like Japan. Like the article stated, it would probably be better for a country like the U.S. in which the obesity rate is increasing.

Anybody heard about the 'Teeth'?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teeth_(film)

I understand the main premise of the film is about sexual abuse and stuff but the whole idea of having teeth in your vagina is just wierd.

Ewwww, I looked up the Parental Guide and it's just disturbing. How did you find out about this movie?

Susan Atkins, one of the Manson murderers, dying of brain cancer; requests compassionate release.

I'm sorry, but brain cancer or not, this woman doesn't deserve to be released under any circumstances. I'm sure her victims would have loved some compassion, aswell, but they didn't get it.

Eh, the only disturbing part listed is the whole "severed/bitten penis" bit. The rest is just describing sex and smoking/drug-use.

A boy in my film class mentioned it. At first I thought he was joking but it turns out he wasn't. The most disturbing or should I say disgusting part of the film, of what I read from the parental guide, is where
The mans penis gets eaten by a dog
WTF?

Neon Heart, I agree. It pisses me off when serial killers think they deserve their ridiculous demands. What about the innocent victims?

Here's two things that made me go "WTF" (plus I got really angry)

The first one is this; Teacher suspended for taping 3-year-old's mouth shut.

I couldn't find an english translated article for the second one, but I translated as good as I could from swedish;
A 12-years old boy from Luleå was at a schooltrip, left alone in the forest, 50 km away from home, when it was time to go home. The reason was a waterwar between several students, that degenerated into a fight. The boy ran into the forest and the teacher ordered the bussdriver to drive away, saying that "the boy must take the consequences". The boy was forced to walk and hitchhike to get home. The teacher now risks to get a warning or suspended.

I just can't find the right words in describing how angry I'm at those two teachers. People like that shouldn't be teachers at all.
My youtube-account / My multiply-account

I dunno. I was just looking at it and I suddenly got this urge to get inside. No, not just an urge - more than that. It was my destiny to be here; in the box. And then when I put it on, I suddenly got this feeling of inner peace. I can´t put it into words. I feel... safe. Like this is where I was meant to be. Like I´d found the key to true happiness.
