Everyone brought up good points here. Not really much that I can add, but I do value my child's self esteem, so I wouldn't give him a name that would make his life miserable and lower his self esteem. Also, I do think we should input laws to protect our kids like the ones in France that Akrui mentioned.

I don't see what's wrong with naming a child whatever a parent wants. There are some things that don't jive traditionally, and there are some things that are gaudy or just ridiculous, but the child can have their legal named changed or just go by a nickname or surname.
I'd like to name my child Sue.
Unless it's a girl; then I'll name her Bubba. Fifty bucks says the kid winds up being a TERRIFIC boxer, either way. And probably a fantastic decorator to boot. They'd shoot me, of course, but they'd also thank me for their success.

As wonderful as that is (and it is, i'm not being sarcastic), please stay on topic. The discussion is about what you would want to name your children. Please stick to that.my g/f has 2 kids. love tham.
Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Okay, so to everyone saying that cultures, obscurities, and obsessions with hobbies shouldn't stop a parent from naming their child anything they want, should gender also be ignored? Should parents give their son a girl's name and vice versa? Before anyone says yes, imagine that you're the guy named Nacy Fagg (and yes, Fagg is a real last name) or the girl named Dick Harding, Hell, imagine that you're the kid named Otaku Fucktard. These names will make you unique and popular. They'll make you stand out. Do you really think that a parent should name their kid like that?
¬_¬ Wow, such a well thought out, intelligent argument. You've sure convinced me.For those opposed to people naming their kids whatever they want:
Are they your kids? NO. Should you stick your nose in their business? NO. Does your opinion matter to them? NO.

Peachvampiress has an account on DeviantArt. Insanity Within.
And a Myspace account for her clothing designs.

That is disrespectful and unnecessary. The nature of your reply tells me you didn't read or understand a single post that me, Guru, or anybody else who had disagreements made.
Congratulations. You've driven me to end this thread.
Obviously, we cannot have this debate without somebody getting personally offended or resorting to rudeness and name-calling.
