Can someone help me identify this book?

This is a book my friend had taken out of the library. I picked it up and started to read it in gym class and loved it, but for the life of me I can't remember the title! Here goes:

First of all, it's a very recently published book. It takes place somewhere in BC, Canada in a smallish town. It's about a girl who has been home schooled and loves to read, but then she goes to first grade dressed like a hobbit. After she's teased a whole bunch, her parents pull her out of school. Now she's in her teens (maybe fifteen?) and she has to stay in/ go to this group home. Then her therapist cracks and this new therapist comes along who is male and very, very hot. That's where I stopped reading.

Can anyone tell me what it's called? (Yes, I did spend half an hour Google searching already.)
