It is indeed CCR, and the title is just "Down on the Corner." Not to be confused with "Looking out my Back Door" or "Up around the Bend." CCR was fond of naming songs after wherever they happened to be standing at the time. ^_^

Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

I didn't know that Ozzy Osbourne did a cover of the Bee Gee's "Stayin' Alive".

Actually, he did it as a duet with Dweezil Zappa.

When I first heard it, I thought that it was a bootleg, but after I googled it, I found out that it actually exists!
"After all these years, you know it's not about control. It's about trying to do everything I can. And for you, it's about setting an example. Everyone looks up to you. They listen to you. If you tell them to fight, they'll fight. But they need to be inspired, and let's face it, 'Superman'...the last time you really inspired anyone... was when you were dead." -- Batman, to Superman, Infinite Crisis, issue 1

I wanted to mention that I really like the Moffatts' covers of The Beatles' She Loves You and Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit. It's a shame the Moffatts broke up four years ago though, because they were a really great band. I would love to see them get back together, but I just don't see that happening.

Slightly off topic here, but I find it funny to hear that the Moffatts broke up considering they're brothers. Just sounds weird...

Anywho...yeah, sorry, just had to interject that little bit of randomness.

On topic: I heard an absolutely AWFUL version of DJ Sammy's dance hit "Heaven" this morning. I know that he and the singer remixed it as a slow song, but this was not only slow--it was sung by ROD STEWART. *vomit* I'm sorry, I know he's a very popular singer, but no...just no. Not my and my husband's song. No.

Hate to disappoint you, but it was done by Bryan Adams ("Summer of '69") years before DJ Sammy did it. I have both versions and like them equally. Adams's raspy voice is very intense. I wouldn't mind hearing a Rod Stewart cover.

On the subject of Stewart, is anything he did other than Maggie May *not* a cover? I can't tell you how many times I've had a song come on the oldies station that I thought was a Rod Stewart original. Having a Party, Twisting the Night Away, Tom Traubert's Blues, everything.

I apologise for going off topic, but I wanted to mention this. On the radio, they said the Moffatts broke up due to musical differences. However, I have reason to believe that they broke up for deeper reasons than that. Though, i do think the musical differences did play a role. In the last few months, I got access to insider information about the Moffatts that the public does not know about. See, I have friends who live in Winnipeg and they go to a gay bar every week. It turns out that Dave Moffatt is gay and hosts karaoke there! My friend wouldn't disclose the name of the bar in her journal though, because if she did, than everybody and their dog would go to the gay bar to harass him. It's bad enough already that about a dozen people or so(who are straight, mind you) show up at the gay bar to harass him. Also, more recently, Dave Moffatt auditioned for Canadian Idol. His brothers laughed at him. I don't follow American/Canadian Idol so I don't know how it turned out, but I doubt that he's win because the shows are intended for amatures, and if he won, it would look rigged.

Basically, I'm convinced that the fact that Dave Moffatt is gay had a huge role in the breakup of the Moffatts. I mean, I'm sure he felt awkword singing love songs about girls, when he's gay. I've always suspected that Dave Moffatt was gay, but I never said anything because of what my junior high class was like.

To make this more on topic, I really didn't like the Beatles cover of I Want to Hold Your Hand on the Sailor Moon Full Moon collection (US release). I just don't think any of the Beatles songs should be made into techno remixes.

Heh, why doesn't it surprise me that Dave was gay? Totally not a shock.

*smacks forehead* Doh, I did forget about Bryan Adams! Guess that tells you which version I like better! (Edit: oy, now I'm doubting myself on the Rod Stewart thing...maybe it WAS Bryan Adams's version I heard... It was the radio with the intercom microphone at work propped up next to the speaker, so considering the quality at which I heard it, it very well may have been...oh well.)

I just remembered something: on their last tour, *NSync performed some Beatles songs and some Temptations songs (I want to say they did some covers of another group too, but I can't remember.), keeping the original styles and everything. Absolutely awesome job! They also seem to do a great job at BeeGees songs acapella. Better than O-Town did.

Another thing that strikes me as odd is when artists sample older songs. Try to find Scooter's "Shake That!" and you'll see what I mean. German techno mixed with '70's disco...interesting result...
