.AVI to .VOB

Post by sailor53 » Fri Jan 21, 2005 3:20 am

Does anyone know of any good programs to convert .AVI files to .VOB files? I was going to burn some of my anime episodes to DVD but Nero only allows you to burn .VOB files to DVD. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That's strange. I have Nero Express and it burns AVI files just fine. What version of Nero do you have?

I have Nero Express Version 6.3.0.2. It will let me burn .AVI files to a data DVD, but it will only allow me to burn .VOB files to DVD-Videos. And since my DVD player can't play Data Discs I'd have to burn the eps on a DVD-Video.

what you need to do is convert the avis to an appropriate file for DVD burning. Get tmpgEnc, which will convert it to an mpg. There's a preset for DVD quality and one for VCD if you prefer that. Nero might do those or you might have to get another burner program. I like tmpgEnc DVD Author.

Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

Thanks for your help. I'll have to give the programs a try.

http://www.videohelp.com/ is a really good site if you need help with pretty much anything related to VCD's or DVD's.

http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?howtoselect=3#3 is the page with guides concerning VCD/SVCD/DVD authoring.
