I STRONGLY recommend that you should start watching TNA Impact on Spike TV.
Here's what happened within the past couple of months:
*Christian Cage is your NEW NWA World Champion, having defeated "Triple J" Jeff Jarrett; currently, he's going to defend it against Abyss at the next PPV
*"Roid Ragin'" Scott Steiner joins TNA, as a member of Jarrett's Army
*Christopher Daniels is your current X-Division Champion, having defeated Samoa Joe

I'm highly curious of this relaunch of ECW. While it's been widely known for a while that they were having another PPV this June again this year, this past week or so, so much has been announced for ECW. It's now going to be a brand extension of WWE, kind of like RAW and Smackdown, ECW will have it's own weekly show (on Sci Fi, weird network choice imo, but that's a whole different can of worms) and wrestlers exclusive to that brand. Considering how ECW has been successful in DVD sales by WWE in the past couple years and the plain awesomeness of last year's PPV, I'm really looking forward to what will come of everything. RVD will be wrestling John Cena for the WWE title, which should be interesting to say the least, especially if RVD wins, since he has been drafted to ECW already. Throwing another twist, is that Kurt Angle has been drafted to ECW as well, being described as the embodiment of the new ECW. Quite a bold statement. I probably won't be able to see this years PPV sadly, but I'll definetly be watching ECW each week and see how it turns out. Hopefully they can retain everything that made them stand out as they move on up.

On a sad note, John Tenta (aka Earthquake) died today after a long battle with bladder cancer.
John "Earthquake" Tenta Passes Away
Looking back at him, I remember him as Earthquake, and briefly saw him in WCW as Avalanche, and Shark. I wasn't aware that he was known as the Cartman-loving Golga from the Oddities.
He was also a contributor to the WrestleCrap book, and even wrote the foreward. He is a frequent guest of WrestleCrap's message boards.
My condolences goes out to his family.

^ awww, and he has a wife and 3 kids? That's sad. ;_;
(I have a lot more sympathy for that than all the wrestlers who die of drug overdoses)
I'm going to see ECW live in Elmira with Dan in August.
Can't wait, should be fun!

On Raw, DX have been humiliating Mr. McMahon like mad, they will be up against Sprit Squad at Saturday Night's Main Event. Edge won the WWE Title a couple of weeks ago from RVD. Cena's looking to get the belt back. On ECW, Big Show won the ECW title after Paul Heyman screwed RVD over. On Smackdown, King Booker won a 20 Man Battle Royal for a title shot against Rey Mysterio at the Great American Bash. Great Khali's been squashing superstars and mocking The Undertaker for weeks after beating him at Judgement Day. The Phenom accepted Khali's challenge last week, a Punjabi Prison match

The Madison Square Garden TV Network is showing classic matches from that arena. They've had The Rockers vs. the Brain Busters from 1989, and Bob Backlund vs. Playboy Buddy Rose from 1982. It's amazing to watch the difference from then to now, in workrate and general ringwork. I don't see why they can't use some of these techniques today.

Here are the results and happenings of Saturday Night's Main Event:
Hulk and Brooke opened up the show by giving a couple of speeches. Randy Orton came out (Duh!) and challenged Hulk to a match at Summerslam next month, Hogan accepted.
Batista & Rey Mysterio & Bobby Lashly def. King Booker & Finlay & Mark Henry @ 10:15 by Pinfall.
Match started with the oh-so annoying "All hail King Booker!" (x100) by William Regal. Mysterio got a beating by Finlay's leprechaun who cost Lashly the United States Title last Friday on SmackDown. Batista wrestled very well after seven months and pinned King Booker. Mark Henry got injured during the match, he could be out for a few months meaning that his match against Batista at GAB will not be taking place.
Vince added the stripulation to the 5 on 2 Elimination Match that when a wrestler gets eliminated, they must get put in a holding cell. DX got up to their antics by humourously talking about McMahon wanting to get spanked.
Carlito & Trish def. Nitro & Mileena @ 2:40 by Pinfall.
This match was way too short. Way too short.
DX def. The Spirit Squad @ 8:40 by Pinfall.
This match was quite good despite mostly being one-sided. DX had the upper hand for most of the match. Mr. McMahon tried to help the Spirit Squad win but DX managed to win anyway and humiliated McMahon once again by locking him in the holding cell.
Khali and Davairi were doing a promo. Big Show came out and complemented Khali his size and on how he defeated The Undertaker easily. The gong rang and the Phenom made his way to the ring. He managed to mount a bit of offense on Khali but ultimately got a double chokeslam from the two 7ft giants. Big Show offered a challenge to the Deadman for the ECW Championship next Tuesday. I don't usually watch ECW but since Undertaker's my favourite wrestler, I'll be watching it next week.
Sabu def. Steve Richards in an Extreme Rules Match @ 2:00 by Pinfall.
The weapons and high flying moves were cool but ultimately the match was too short.
Backstage Brooke and Randy were talking. We got to see Brooke's music video, the song was crappy and her singing isn't great IMO. Anyway, Hulk Hogan got an RKO on the back of his car.
Michelle McCool beat Victoria in the finals of the Diva Bull Riding Contest. It was good eye-candy but more of a ploy to waste time.
John Cena def. Edge at 8:17 by Disqualification
It was a good match. Fans were mixed on Cena as some cheered him and others booed him. The momentum swung back and forth between Edge and Cena in the first few minutes of the match until we got to Cena's ever-so repetitive Five Moves Of Doom routine. Lita got her boyfriend Edge DQed by attacking the ref so he retains the title. Cena went on a rampage after the match, FU'ing Edge from the steel steps to the announce table, finishing of Saturday's Night Main Event.
I'd give it a 6.5/10 because some of the matches were too short (the Mixed Tag Match) and one-sided (DX VS Spirit Squad.) Edge makes a good champion even though I get the feeling John Cena's going to be somewhat like the next Triple H getting Title Shot's all the time, they'll probably meet again at Summerslam. The Hogan-Orton match sounds good even though I've heard rumours Hulk Hogan has creative control on his contract so it's highly likely he'll make himself win. Overall SNME was average.

It's a Girl!
Stephanie gave birth to a girl, Aurora Rose, yesterday.
My congrats to her and Triple H.
And here's the bad news for me:
I can no longer watch wrestling (more specifically, Raw, ECW, and TNA Impact!, though I do watch Smackdown! occasionally), due to the fact that my uncle can't afford the extra satellite TV channels. Thus, I have to rely on the wrestling news websites for info.

Let's see how long it takes for Vince to put a major title on Aurora. I'm thinking by the time she's teething.

Kurt Angle has been granted an early release from the WWE today.
According to Dave Meltzer, Angle is having personal issues he has to deal with.
The news was very surprising.

It's official.
At the conclusion of the "No Surrender" PPV:
1. Kurt Angle has joined TNA! "It's real. It's DAMN real!" (Yes, that's what he said)
2. iMPACT! has moved to a 9PM timeslot, starting November 16!
Wade Keller suspected that Angle's "MMA inspirations" was a red herring!

Ho. Ly. Fuck.
Kurt Angle going to TNA after taking an early release from WWE is fucking HUGE. I did not see that one coming. I knew that sooner or later Impact would finally move to a better timeslot and am happy to see that it's finally happened. But Angle signing with TNA? Never would've expected that for at least a year or so considering he just left WWE only a few weeks ago. One of the TNA news articles mentions this is bigger that when it was revealed that Hulk Hogan was the 3rd member of the nWo back in 1997, and it definetly feels that big. They're probably right in it being bigger than that moment though only time will be able to tell if that's true or not.
This is awesome. There's finally going to be some serious competition again. And it's way overdue. WWE has been quite predictable for a while now and for a time, it looked like TNA was heading in the predictable direction too (I called Christain Cage's turn on Sting a month before it happened). This is really big and I'm looking forward to the impact (no pun intended) that this will have on the wrestling industry. Shit, we may even see Kurt Angle vx. Sting at some point, which is just so surreal when you think of it before this announcement.
Heh, I almost wish Angle would've waited a bit before moving over to TNA. I mean, if he stayed with WWE, he would've won the ECW after some time. Then after losing it, he could've made the change over to TNA to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship at some point, and be the first man ever to hold the NWA, WWE, WCW, and ECW world titles. XD
In all seriousness, this is awesome news on so many levels. It's going to be great to see how this affects the industry. Just fucking wow.

It should be noted, however, that Angle has a whole laundry list of injuries, with the major concern being his broken neck he suffered before the '96 Olympics. The WWE eventually became concerned about this, especially in the wake of Eddie Guerrero's death, and they eventually released him.
I have a 2004 issue of SmackDown! Magazine which shows that Angle is driven by his injuries.
Let's hope that he gets a light schedule in TNA.

Chris Benoit: 1967 - 2007
A sad day for wrestling fans, today Chris Benoit, along with his wife Nancy, and his son Daniel, were found dead in their home in GA today. Authorities are investigating what happened so nothing is really known yet. He was supposed to wrestle for the ECW title last night but called off for a family emergency. This is completely unexpected and a really sad moment. Raw is now a tribute special to him highlighting key moments in his career and life. Holy fuck, he will be missed greatly.

Say that it isn't so!
The one thing that I heard was that Benoit had to pull out of Vengeance last night due to personal issues.
When I heard the news, my heart just sank.

SourceFAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife, and son were found dead Monday and police said they were investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide.
Detective Bo Turner told television station WAGA that the case was being treated as a murder-suicide, but said that couldn't be confirmed until evidence was examined by a crime lab.
The station said that investigators believe the 40-year-old Benoit killed his wife, Nancy, and 7-year-old son, Daniel, over the weekend, then himself on Monday.

This is such tragic news so many wrestlers have passed the last 2 years Eddie Gurero, Bam Bam Biglow. Now the Rabid Wolverine. I'll admit I dont watch wrestling as much as I used to. But as a former big time fan it saddens me to hear this happened.
"Have you been half asleep? And have youve heard voices?
I hear them calling my name."
Is this the sweet sound, that calls the young sailors?
The voice maybe one in the same.
Ive heard it too many times to ignore it,
its something that I sposed to be..
Someday we''''ll find it, the rainbow connection
The lover, the dreamer, and me..."

What's sad about Benoit's death was, currently, that the media are spinning it as a "roid rage" case (read: they're jumping to conclusions).
You can learn more about it at Jim Ross's Blog.
