I miss that, too! My brother and I used to go to the commissary and get one for each of us every year.

;_; I just got done watching A Charlie Brown Christmas...one of my family's long-running traditions. My mom called from TN to tell me it was on. It made me somewhat sad..it wasn't the same watching it without my family, and Derek isn't into christmas stuff, especially christmas specials.

Boo. I'm so ready to go home.

Charlie Brown Christmas hasn't done it for me since I aged out of the market for plastic toys. To me, the best part of watching that was the massive glut of commercials--it was like the first electronic catalog.
Things I think Are Funny Early in the Morning: If Batman were a Smurf: "Quick, Robin! We must smurf down to the Batcave and smurf the Batplane! Then we must smurf the batsmurf so we can smurf where the Joker is smurfing!"

The Croonerism Spate (explanations upon request)
Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

o.O....I don't know if I interpreted that wrong, but it almost sounds like you're saying you're too mature" for it...if so, what does that say about me? =P

Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Nonono. . . I was referring only to the commercials. When I was young there were ads for Capsela and Construx and TransFormers and everything I wanted for Christmas. Today. . . I buy that stuff for my little cousins. The show itself is timeless, ageless.

Well. In our family we get together every Christmas Eve. Usaully every member gets presents on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Their really isn't any special TV shows we watch, which is a disappointment for me. But it's a time we can spend time together as a family and I guess that what's count.

Ahhh, okay. I misunderstood ^^ Thanks.

Yeah, I was kind of bummed out that my mom wasn't there. She and I always loved watching that and the Grinch together.

Here's one of the many problems with living in Oz: We don't appear to get the Holiday Specials. I can quite clearly recall my sister wanted to interrupt my viewing of En liten Julsaga to watch Cat Ballou. It was on Dec 24th too. Why Cat Ballou was on a commercial station on December 24th makes no sense at all to me.

Every year since I was little, the day after thanksgiving we'd bring out all the christmas tapes and watch them up to christmas day. My dad taped a bunch of christmas specials back in the 80's. I practically know them by heart. You know, like the Smurf Christmas and Charlie Brown, the Grinch...ect. I've updated most of them to dvd by now. (except the smurfs...i'm so upset) i'm excited because this year I'm adding the He-man and She-Ra Christmas Special to the collection. (Unforturnately I didn't get to see it when it originally aired...stupid early bedtime)

For the last couple years my parents have been watching PBS on Christmas day. They air the three christmas episodes from Are You Being Served. they love that show. Especially the bit about the santa robot malfunctioning.

My family doesn't really have that many Christmas traditions. I live with my grandma so everybody usually comes to my house and eats us out of hose and home.I'm gonna start my own traditoin and have a Star Wars/Indiana Jones marathon.

I'd have to say my least favorite holiday tradition... Is when my aunt's side of the family, and my other aunt's side of the family come over, and try to say that they are your "closest" family by coming over, and trying to be all 'buddy-buddy' with you, trying to ask how you've been, and all that.

...

Does that make me sound insensitive? Maybe, but how would you like it if you had a HUGE portion of the 'family' ignore you all year, act like you don't exsist basically, then try to come over by saying "Oh we've MISSED you!" and try to eat food you barely have enough for the main five people of your true family?

I know, this makes me sound like a ranting bitch, but... Ugh, it's a long story, unless you live in my family, you wouldn't understand. It's probably the main reason why I could give a crap about Christmas.

Other than that, I mostly do Christmas for the three Christmas shows I watch, and the lights.
