Online Tarot Readings

Post by Cardcaptor Takato » Wed Nov 03, 2004 8:53 am

About a week ago, I did this online tarot card reading just for the fun of it. I used the Voodoo deck and The Magus significator (please forgive me if I get these terms wrong; I don't really know much about tarot reading) and asked the question, "Who am I?" The results described my personlity somewhat accurate, although not everything was exactly correct.

"The card in the center represents the attitude you assume. La Baleine (Four of Cups): Being surrounded by love and devotion but taking it for granted. Ignoring the real and longing for the indefinable. Apathy and disengagement from the world. Dissatisfaction with the condition and direction of affairs, but the inability to accept new opportunities."

I would never take love for granted, although sometimes I do feel like nobody around me actually cares about me, if that counts....

"The card to the right represents the thoughts and feelings that underly your attitudes. Ogoun La Flambeau (Five of Wands): An intense struggle motivated purely by the love of competition. A state of seeming chaos driven by endless small disputes and complications. A hotly contested race, debate, game, or other challenge. A stressful situation that brings out the best in the participants."

I like to debate things, but I don't really like competition. ^^;; And I guess I can be a bit chaotic when it comes to arguments and stuff like that.

"The card at the top represents how your attitude is evolving and will evolve in the future. Guedeh (Three of Swords): Unsettling news leading to heartbreak or loneliness. Tactless or hurtful words. Acting without consideration for the emotions of others. Betrayal of trust or confidence. The revelation of a painful truth."

I do have the tendecy to put my foot into my mouth, but I haven't done it yet. Although the unsettling news thing could be applied to anything, I find it eeire that I got this result almost two days before I got rejected (see the Love Problems thread for more details on that).

"The card to the left represents how others perceive your attitude. Madame La Lune (Nine of Cups): Contentment and satisfaction in romance, friendship, or other relationships. Achieving your deepest desires and savoring beauty and sensual pleasures. A state of joy and abundance radiating fulfillment and bliss."

"The card at the bottom represents what you cannot confront or are hiding from yourself. La Sirene (Seven of Cups): Daydreams and things seen in the glass of contemplation. The scattering of energies by strong desires and unrealistic goals. The pursuit of illusions and the dissipation of energy on false choices. Intoxication, delirium, and hallucination, leading to the negation of effort. Under rare and extreme circumstances, may indicate the revelation of transcendental spiritual truth."

And I'm not really sure what this one means. ^^;; Anyway, try it out for yourself and see what results you get: http://www.facade.com/tarot/
"If we can''t comprehend the plan at hand, how could a higher plan make any more sense? I'd say you can only be a martyr if you know what you are dying for, and choose it"-Elphaba

"Those who made mistakes blame themselves and close their hearts. It's impossible to fix a mistake. Man can't return to the past. That's why we drink. Drunks, lushes, sliding alcohol down their throats to dilute the memories that can't be denied.-Vash The Stampede"

Mine described me pretty well. I used a different significator, because they say they embody your presence or something... I have no real knowledge of tarot-related stuff either.

Anyway:

"The card in the center represents the attitude you assume. Yemaya (Nine of Discs): Good luck attending material affairs. Attaining refinement and embracing elegance. Discipline and nobility applied to the maintenance of security and stability. The wise use of resources and foresight. The fulfillment that comes with accomplishment, and the turning of attention to higher things."

A pretty good description. Not much I can say here, it's said it already.

"The card to the right represents the thoughts and feelings that underly your attitudes. Shi-Li-Bo Nouvavou and Dan-I (Six of Cups): Opening your heart to the simple pleasures of life. Fond memories fuel the playful embrace of love and life. Experiencing the joy of youth and sexual innocence. Engaging in acts of gentle kindness. Harmony of natural forces without effort or strain. Meeting an old friend."

It's got me again. Old friends are nice, it's just too bad that most of them are Sailormoon characters. Maybe I'll meet a nice Japanese girl named Ami Mizuno. ^_^ At this point, I'm thinking "Hey, maybe there's something to this whole tarot dealie."

"The card at the top represents how your attitude is evolving and will evolve in the future. Nan Nan Bouclou La Flambeau (Two of Wands): Established power and influence over others. Setting goals and a vision for the future. Coming to grips with the impact of past decisions, considering the current state of affairs, and developing a plan of action. Responsible leadership."

At this point, it's starting to scare me with its apparent accuracy. I would never describe myself as a leader of any real sort, though others may see it differently. Perhaps it will show itself in time.

"The card to the left represents how others perceive your attitude. Oshun (Seven of Discs), when reversed: Labors abandoned before completion. Impatience, lack of effort, and the wasting of time. Idle and unprofitable speculation."

Four for four. People seem to interpret my vaguely laid-back attitude to mean that I'm lazy and will never really get anywhere. This is especially true of my stepfather, who was never allowed a moment's rest when he was my age, apparently.

"The card at the bottom represents what you cannot confront or are hiding from yourself. Dance (The Chariot), when reversed: Ineffective use of force. Might turned against the weak or the righteous. Senseless violence and warmongering. Lack of discipline and poor direction fan the flames of a situation already out of control. Advance without consideration of the consequences for others."

I'm not sure we're supposed to recognize this straight away, as it's something we hide from ourselves. But I can see this happening. I am kind of a jerk towards my little brother. The situation at home is not exactly great, so the "senseless violence" and "situation out of control" things could be referring to that. And I have adopted a bit of a "get out of my way, or I'll crush you" attitude in response, so that's the last part.

There's mine, now someone else try it.

By the way, Takato, you forgot to tell us the spread you used. I think it was the "Shadow Truth" one, as that's the only one whose pattern of answers seems to match. I used the same settings except for the significator, and I also turned "Reversals" on.

With the online tarot readings it's best not to expect too much with it. I have a tarot deck, and my friends frequently as me to read them. it's best to do the face to face ones, with a real person because then the person getting the reading shuffles and cuts the deck. Very rarely have I gotten a vague reading, and had to redo one, but mostly they were all pretty much on the nose. though the future ones were harder, but a bunch turned out to be very correct, and very freaky for the person I read for. When they came back to me and told me about it they were freaking out hehe.

But I don't do the online ones, because it's more apt to get either a way off base reading, or a VERY vague reading. And you should always use reversals. in a real reading, you can't turn reversals off... so you really shouldn't with your online ones either.
Plug for my message board Im awful. ::Hangs head in shame::

Left here alone, and unsure of what I feel. Unclear, but I see, Just what I'm afraid of.
I can't find my way anymore. And I cannot heal the wounds I've created. I can't let let go of whats killing me
Falling from this edge, I am lost to all I know
I can't breathe anymore Somehow I'm locked inside this cage And I've tried, but I cant Fight to stay alive
Falling from this edge, I am lost to all I know Time is only Fantasy And lies, the only reverie.
I've tried But I can't fight anymore.
I've Fallen from this edge, I am lost to all I know Time is only Fantasy And lies, the only reverie.
