Reeve Dies

Post by Jed-kun » Mon Oct 11, 2004 3:39 pm

Christopher Reeve died sunday due to complications due to a bed soar. Having worked as an assistant CNA (certified nursing assistant) I don't entierly understand how this man, wealthy with tons of care, could develope a bed soar that serious. However, none of that matters now since it's to late to do anything. He also slipped into cardiac arrest due to his soar.

From what I read, it was an infection caused by a feeding tube or some other medical device that was in him, and it's just one of those things the doctors can't see until it becomes too late. It's a shame too, because he worked so hard after his accident on raising money for curing spinal injuries. He showed up a lot on New York's local TV stations for that as well as nationally, and everyone talked about how well he took his misfortune.
Things I think Are Funny Early in the Morning: If Batman were a Smurf: "Quick, Robin! We must smurf down to the Batcave and smurf the Batplane! Then we must smurf the batsmurf so we can smurf where the Joker is smurfing!"

The Croonerism Spate (explanations upon request)
Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

That's really too bad. I remember in high school science class, my science teacher taped an episode of CNN with Christopher Reeve on it because we were talking about the spinal chord and whatever else, I forget.

He was only 52, it's such a shame. I think it's amazing all the work he did towards raising awareness about spinal injuries. I think it's so sad he never got to fufill his dream of walking again.

It was a medical mishap. You don't have to be old to die from that.

As for his death, as callous as this sounds, I don't really feel anything about it. I wasn't a big fan of his. I didn't hate him, but I didn't really like his movies or anything. He helped a lot of people, though, so I do have respect for him. But I still just can't bring myself to really feel sorry for his death, when though I respected him, I didn't know him personally or admire him.

I had a lot of respect for the guy, and I liked him in the Superman movies. By the way, I heard that he had died of a heart attack, and then I heard something about a bed sore, but I didn't know if the two where related.

I meant to say that I had heard that that was what it was, but I didn't know the entire story before I saw that post. Sorry, I should have added that in.

I was really sad when I heard about this. I just kept thinking "superman is dead," which was hard because I loved his movies when I was a kid. What makes it worse is that he was only 52 and he was beginning to move his fingers again. At least he is no longer in pain and was able to raise awareness and money for spinal cord injury research in his lifetime.

Yesterday I felt really weird about this, because I don't remember seeing the Superman movies he did, but my boyfriend bought the Smallville DVDs and we were watching the one episode he was in as a Doctor who tells Clark about his origins.

I'm with you. The only thing I know about this guy is that he was in superman movies (which I've never seen, and have had no interest in seeing), and that he was paralyzed in an accident. That's it. So I mean...I'm not really sad at all ^^;

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.
