SpongeBob SquarePants

Post by Artemis Lover » Sun Oct 10, 2004 12:04 pm

Hey! I saw no topics for this, so I decided to make one.
I know that it's mostly preteens, teens, and adults here, but does anyone besides me think that SPONGEBOB ROCKS THE TV BOX?? Yeah, he rules.

FAVORITE EPISODES: Neptune's Spatula, Just One Bite, Wet Painters, Chocolate with Nuts, Krusty Krab Training Video, Fry Cook Olympics (I hope I didn't forget any... *sweat drop*

FAVORITE SCENES: When, in the Fry Cook Games, they have the ice cream competition and Spongebob is a lemon popsicle with chocolate with nuts and Patrick is a strawberry cone with a chocolate tip. So funny!

“See this butt? Yeah. Look at it. LOOK AT MY BUTT. This is all you’re getting. MY BUTT to look at it. Yeah, bet you’re sorry now, aren’t you? You’d like to see my cute fuzzy face, wouldn’t you? But all you’re getting is the BUTT. LOOK AT IT. LOOK AT MY BUTT. Sucker.”
The thing is, Henrietta has—how can I put this? Kind of a big butt. If Henrietta were a celebrity? She’d be J-Lo.
Not that J-Lo has what I would call a big butt. But others have opined that this is so. I think J-Lo has a normal, healthy butt. As does Henrietta.

I HATE spongebob squarepants. I cannot stand any little bit of it. The show is stupid, the art/animation just sucks my ass, and it's just...STUPID.

I don't know. I never could get into it, and I don't see the appeal in it at all.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I'm in full agreement with Tiff. I have friends who like the show, but I just don't see what's so great about it. This past summer, I went to Klondike Days (a major carnival held in Edmonton every July) and they had all this Spongebob crap for prizes -_-

In all, I think the show is overrated.

SBSP is overrated, but I don't find it bad. It's a little surreal, and once in a while, it can have a Simpsons-esque unexpected joke. But it's something I'd watch only when nothing else was on and I want to kill time until something good comes on.

Also, weird sidenote, but after 9/11, the Onion had a TV Listings article, based on how everything on TV concerned the attacks. One of the shows they listed was "SpongeJohn SquareAshcroft." That joke has stuck with me and every time I hear the theme song those are the lyrics I sing over the TV.
Things I think Are Funny Early in the Morning: If Batman were a Smurf: "Quick, Robin! We must smurf down to the Batcave and smurf the Batplane! Then we must smurf the batsmurf so we can smurf where the Joker is smurfing!"

The Croonerism Spate (explanations upon request)
Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like it!

For one thing, I don't like some of the voices. SpongeBob's laugh is just....annoying.

Second, I never found humor in it. It's supposed to be a humorous show, right? I'd like to see some in there!

Also, I hate the animation. I just don't like the drawing style. At all.

Last, while some of the stories CAN be original, most of them seem to me something that you can come up within five minutes when asked to write a story, or if the plot is good the way they carry it out is awful at points.

Me: This is coming from the kid who doesn't know what Viagra is!
Ko: It's cold medicine, right?
Our Group: NO!!!
Me: Can I just say?
Dylan: Sure, it's no weirder than what normally comes out of your mouth.
Me: (says what)
Ko: .....What's that?
Me: ......*starts crying*
Carley: STEVE! STEVE GET OVER HERE AND TELL KO WHAT VIAGRA DOES!
Steve: See, it's like this: The bridge goes up and the soldiers rush out....

Tiff: Aww, you killed someone for me. That's so sweet in a f***ed up sort of way!

I kind of like SBSP. I'll watch it if nothing else is on, and it does make me laugh sometimes. It's not something I'm a huge fan of however I do love Squidward. If there were a show about Squidward....oh.....I'd definately be obsessed.

I normally do the same thing...if nothing else is on i'll turn to it. The same type of jokes get boring after a while which is one of the reasons why I only rarely watch it nowadays compared to when I first watched it.

I really like the older episodes of Spongebob, back before Patrick got black eyebrows. The newer episodes aren't as funny, and the animation has gotten really ugly. It's similar, in a way, to Powerpuff Girls. I (heart) the old episodes, but the new episodes are *terrible.* Anyway, I think Squidward is the best character ever, and I love any episode that centers around him. "Band Geeks" is one of my favorite episodes. I also dig Plankton, so episodes with him are pretty good too.

I watch it if I've got thirty minutes to kill in between shows, but I don't make a habit of it. I don't care for the animation and it all seems too childish at times, but it is a kids show, so yeah. It's got some nice subtle, unexpected humor now and then that makes me snicker, but it's not what I'd call mind blowing. Overall, I think SBSP is very overrated, but okay to watch every once in a while. I just what to know why the hell Spongebob is on grown men's pajamas and underwear... That just freaks me out. o_0

I also don't like it. It gets really old how everyone at my school is in love with it, yet I believe it's really dumb. *shrugs* to each his or her own.

:( That's sad, I love spongebob. I don't care if either the animation or the voices are bad (I don't think so...) but it's great for a laugh once in a while. Does anyone out there agree??

o_O; why do you care to the point of it being sad? It's a cartoon. And plenty of people on here have said they like it, or that it's not a bad show. Why are you only looking at the bad??

I've been watching Spongebob for quite a while, and, well, I'm kind of addicted to it! I'm thinking that I'll get the first, second, and, when it comes out, the third season!

My favorite Spongebob moments:

1. Spongebob tasting Gary's food
2. Spongebob and Patrick making fun of "Dumb Ol' Texas" (sorry, Tiff); also the Texas song by Sandy
3. The Jellyfish Jam
"After all these years, you know it's not about control. It's about trying to do everything I can. And for you, it's about setting an example. Everyone looks up to you. They listen to you. If you tell them to fight, they'll fight. But they need to be inspired, and let's face it, 'Superman'...the last time you really inspired anyone... was when you were dead." -- Batman, to Superman, Infinite Crisis, issue 1

I like Spongebob Squarepants. It's at least nice to see a show that doesn't shove morals down your throat every episode. It's incredibly stupid, and it won't win awards for writing, art, animation, etc., but it's SUPPOSED to be stupid. Except for a few adult jokes, there's nothing intelligent at all about Spongebob.

It's also pretty much the only (good) animated children's show on the air that isn't a stupid action series starring human kids. It's actually a cartoon, not an animated sitcom or action show like most kids' shows are. It's definitely not for everyone, though.

I've watched the movie a couple of days ago, and to me, I think it's decent compared to the TV episodes.

My observations:

Spongebob has a somewhat childish tone of voice in the movie (of course, Tom Kenny STILL plays him)

Does Plankton still has the Krabby Patty recipe recognized after he's arrested? (My theory is that he may have some amnesia after being stepped on by the crowd, resulting in him losing the recipe, unless the writers decided, "to hell with continunity!")
