Favorite Disney singing voices

Post by usachan » Sun Sep 05, 2004 12:15 am

Anyone else have an opinion on Disney singing voices. Personally I love Jodi Benson (The Little Mermaid) who also was in the Broadway musical "Crazy For You" and Lea Salonga (Mulan, Jasmine singing voices) who starred in Miss Saigon and appeared in Les Miserables. Personally, I think they have two of the most beautiful alto voices I've ever heard. What does everyone else think?

I've always thought Elton John was great (The Circle of Life- The Lion King). Other than that, I don't really care for music from the Disney movies, though I used to love it growing up.

:glomps: you are God.

I'll have to second RT (but then again I'm a raving Elton fangirl so what do you expect).

This is a hard one, but I've heard that the Nightmare Before Christmas was made by Disney. If so, then I'll have to say Danny Elfman (singing voice for Jack). His voice is just amazingly strong, then you add on to the fact that he conducted the music, making for majorly kick ass songs.

I agree Elton has a great voice. I didn't even think of him though when I made this topic, because I haven't seen "The Lion King" in forever. Apparently I'm alone though in my love of Jodi and Lea :(

No, you're not lol. I love Jodi's voice. Lea's good, but she doesn't stand out in my mind like Paige O'Hara, who did Belle in Beauty and the Beast. She, like Jodi, did both speaking and singing for her character. I dunno, I just like her songs and expression in her voice.

I also like Jodi's voice, along with Paige O'Hara. Those are 2 of my favorite Disney movies, and I love the songs in them.

I remember hearing the song "Reflection" from the movie Mulan, and thinking how great the singer was, so I looked her up and found that she was some unknown adolescent named Christina Aguilera, and I thought she would be a great singer someday.

What happened?

But I'm a big Sir Elton fan as well, both for his Disney stuff and his pop songs. There aren't too many artists who have been consistently good since the 70s, but he's one.

Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

I have to second/third/fourth the nods for Jodi Benson and Paige O'Hara, though I want to give a nod to Robby Benson, who played the Beast, too. :)

I'd say Jodi Benson's as well. I haven't seen The Little Mermaid in forever, but it's hard to forget a voice like that.

Well that's good to know. I like Paige's voice too, but something about Beauty and the Beast bugs me for some reason. I dunno. Actually, I do know, but I don't wanna get off topic, lol. I'm glad to see a lot of people here like Jodi.

Forgive me for not knowing the names of the singers, but I like Pocahonta's singing voice, as well as Ariel's from the Little Mermaid and Mrs. Pott's singing "Beauty and the Beast."

That's alright. Pochahontas is sung by Judy Kuhn, Ariel's voice is done by Jodi Benson, and Mrs. Potts is done by Angela Lansbury.
