I got on Utada.com today and found some new songs from Hikaru IN ENGLISH! Which isn't a real surprise since she's got an english CD coming out October 5. Anywho, I just wanted to talk about her new songs.
Out of the two they have I think that I like Eazy Breazy best. However of the remixes the Scumfrog Radio Edit for Devil Inside is the best IMO, very rave/dance. :Giddy Dancing: I can't wait for the new CD to come out!!!

It doesn't surprise me at all that she's singing in English - she spent a large part of her childhood in America, and she enrolled at Columbia University. Her English is at least as good as her Japanese, if not better.

*nods* She was born in New York, after all. She learned both languages as a child.Ni-ban Neko wrote:It doesn't surprise me at all that she's singing in English - she spent a large part of her childhood in America, and she enrolled at Columbia University. It's really not that surprising. Even in her Japanese songs, her "engrish" doesn't have an accent. Her "engrish" is just "english"

I've heard alot of Utada's english music. Blow My Whistle (which I think was on the Rush Hour 2 soundtrack) Once you get around the rap at the begining and end, it's damn decent. I like her cover of 'Close to You', and Simple and Clean (both normal and PlanetB remix). If she's coming out with a CD here in America i'm soo buying it. I havn;t heard any samples from her new CD, but I have high hopes.
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG!
It's out!!! The Eazy Breazy music video is out ... and it's goooooooooood!
It's starts out at a public swimming pool, moves to a somewhat suggestive sceen of Hikaru in a Phone booth in a rain storm, and then goes to Hikaru in a sports car with a cute bunny key chain hanging from the rear-view merrior. Oh, and she looks REALLY good, as expected! Anybody who even remotely thinks they like her should check out the vid whenever they get a chance.

Utada's realese in the US
A while back a friend of mine got me to look into the artist Utada Hikaru. She's sold like 23 million records in Japan and is releasing a new album here in the US. I've heard previews of her songs and she's pretty good.

Also, after hearing a few of her songs in English, all I have to say is this: Does she write her own songs? Because her lyrics may be the worst ones I have ever heard. She has a pretty voice, but the songwriting makes me cringe. *shudders*

Yeah thats can also go for a lot of songs. The beat is good, the music is pretty, but the lyrics don't grab you. But, I'm easy... so if it has a good beat or nice music it's alright. Or if it's something that I can screamingly sing in my car while people drive past me looking at me like I'm crazy >_<( admit it you know you do it too) then I'm ok with it.ParaKiss_Groupie wrote: Also, after hearing a few of her songs in English, all I have to say is this: Does she write her own songs? Unfortunately for foreign artists it is hard to break into main stream American music without speaking English. t.A.T.u. had to learn English before they could attempt to cross over (unfortunately many other ... circumstances held them back, plus they're stile isn't typical America right now).

I just got the CD today, FINALLY! The BX here didn't even put it in "New Music" first, but that's ok 'cause I at least have it now. I really like it, it's not my favorite CD or even my favorite Utada CD, but it's still really good IMO. However, here lyrics can be kinda odd at times. My top 5 songs are Exodus '04, The Workout, Animato, Let Me give You My Love, and About Me.
