Bad news for frequent sam goody and suncoast buyers

Post by MonkeyDLuffy » Thu Oct 23, 2003 6:45 pm

150 Suncoast, Sam Goody stores closing in 2004 (2003-10-13 17:43:28)
Musicland will close 150 of the chain's 1,119 Suncoast and Sam Goody stores following the 2003 holiday season. As a result of this second wave of closures, which follows a similar move last January, Musicland is expected to lose about nine hundred employees. On a more positive note, Musicland will be adding fifty new stores in "better" locations in 2004 to compensate for the closures. Source: ICv2 [ discuss (23 posts) ]
this really sucks. i dont care about sam goody, cuz suncoast has ALL the anime but is at MSRP which is a drag, but they had toys and some had pocky i hear. maybe a gigantic sale will errupt? CHECK YOUR STORES NOW!!! before its too late. some stores already close. you can also ask if yours is one that 1 of the 50 opening is ur store...not mine probably v_v i check soon on mine.

Suncoast's prices are too high. They do have toys, yes, and the occasional decent markdown, but mine had a somewhat cruddy toy selection, and doesn't like to mark old stuff down.

Shy of missing out on the toys, I can get the same movies at Fye usually for the same, or less.

hell, our samgoody closed MONTHS ago. it sucked, becuase it was the only place in our town to get anime. You can't get anime anywhere in our town except wal-mart, and they only have about 4 titles, and random ones at that.

Gamestop proves to be a better place to get anime here. It's usually at least $5 cheaper.

Gamestop? Feh, give Best Buy a try.

Well that'll suck, Suncoast has always been one of my favorite places to buy anime and anime merchandise. Well I haven't bought as much anime there recently, plus I'll have plenty of other places - FYE, Circuit City, Game Stop, Borders, plus Half Price Books and CD Warehouse for used stuff, and that's just off the top of my head. But where will I be able to find that much anime merchandise?

I got the RePlay membership last December. Iprobably won't renew it. It equals a $5 store certifecate for roughly every $100 you spend. And they still have yet to get my name right on all the mail they send me.

This isn't good at all. I liked Suncoast, they have a wide selection of products.

I can't stand Suncoast. They might have a wide selection, but everything's retail price (which is weird because Best Buy, Media Play, Suncoast, and Sam Goody are all owned by the same company, yet Suncoast and Sam Goody are the only stores that sell things for retail price). Also, anything rated 15+ they won't let you buy unless you're 18, which sucks because I am 15.

For rizzle? I haven't bought anything 15+ at Suncoast, but that's just a bit odd. I don't mind Suncoast's prices, I'm just happy with their wide selection. Most of the cashiers seem to be knowledgeable of anime as well (at least in my experience).

Noooo! I know I'm a little late here, but Suncoast was my favorite place to window shop!!! However, I have a Best buy like 5 minutes from my house so I'm good, plus there are but loads of discount stores on line that have 10 times the selection. Suncoast/SamGoody, you will be missed.

I just have to jump into off-topic mode for a moment to say that those two simple words had me cracking up.

I just buy my stuff at Target. They have a sweet selection and usually their DVDs are around 20 bucks, but they only have what's released around that month.
