I don't mean to sound rude, but I think this was discussed in an earlier thread.

Ohh really? Haven't watched that show in forever. My sister and I used to love watching it. We had one of the episodes on vhs but I don't think we do anymore. I also liked to watch the one called "My Little Pony Girls" or something like that, it was on t.v. sometimes, it had different characters and it was in a modern setting.

Meh, I'll discuss anyways. I used to love that show when I was a kid and it's nice to see that it's finally coming back in on DVD for the new generations. I can't wait to share the things I enjoyed with my children someday.

I saw that same article yesterday. The box looked so cute! I remember watching that show everyday as a kid. What I would've given as a kid to have gone to ponyland.

I only had a couple of the dolls growing up. My sister is finally at the age of enjoying that kind of thing, so I'm hoping to get it and show it to her. If she doesn't like it, my children will.

It was actually "My Little Pony Tales." I hated that cartoon. It was so annoying. I liked the older My Little Pony episodes , though and the movie, too. I hope they'll release the movie on DVD since I have it on VHS and would like to own it on DVD, too. Now if only they'll release the entire Rainbow Brite cartoon show on DVD. ;.;

Holy crap. You'd think I'd know about this, being a member of one of the most popular My Little Pony message boards on the net. 0_o. I guess they don't know yet. I'm totally psyched. I want it sooo much. It's weird, cuz I've been debating whether or not to buy bootleg copies off the net or from other collectors, but I'm glad I didn't decide yet. :) I used to watch the series when I was younger when it was on disney channel (Fragle Rock was on right after it!). My favorite episode is Somnabula, because it's got the male ponies in it, and my second fave is Bright Lights, because of the song "We're gonna make you sorry." Anyway, I totally buys it when it comes out. I needs it.

EDIT: I just looked at the link, and I HATE the box art. Those are the '97 ponies, and they have no business bein' on the cover. Plus, the art in the little circle looks horrible too. Bleah. Where's my G1 ponies??

I didn't care for "My Little Pony Tales" either. The old cartoon was much better with Megan (I beleive that was her name) and the Rainbow locket, Dream Estate *little girl squeal* Not to mention there was more of a variety in the older cartoons. Flying Ponies, Sea Ponies, unicorns and regualr ponies.

*ahem* "Paradise Estate", not Dream Estate. The castle was called Dream Castle.

...XD;;; I used to be obsessed, sorry.

SQUEE. This is so neat! I would love to get the DVD and go back into time like that..what a nostalgia trip! My Little Pony Tales didn't really bother me, I kind of thought they were cute, but I definitely love the original more. <3 I still have old Beta tapes of them LOL

...and wasn't Dream Castle covered by the Smooze and then given to the Bushwoolies?

Oh, and was it Dream Valley or Ponyland or what was it?

it was covered in smooze and then given to the Grundles. Dream Valley is where the original '80's ponies lived. The 97 ponies lived in Friendship Garden, and the newest ponies live in Ponyville in Ponyland.

The My Little Pony Movie is also coming to DVD, but when I have no idea. According to Amazon.com, it's going to be released on DVD Januraury 1st, 1986. I had no idea they had DVD players back then. o.O

To my knowledge, they didn't have DVDs back then. I've run into this problem many times with Amazon. They put the original release date for the original VHS or movie when they don't have information on the release date of the dvd. Give them a little time and they'll update the information so that it's current.

I had forgotten about all those places on the show. I feel so old now. I honestly can't wait for the movie to be released and the boxset. It'll help me remember better.

(Shivers) That show gave me nightmares when I was young, I would rather not relive that.

Well, TVShowsonDvd.com has updated their information on the show's release. It's supposively coming out November 9th. The extras include Pilot: "Rescue at Midnight Mountain" and Special Show: "Escape from Katrina". Way too cool, if you ask me! Yay!!

the sad news for me is that it's talking about $60. Somehow I've gotta scrap it together. I want to see it so bad....

Anyway, thought you would all like the update!

I just got the dvd set in my home today. After doing a little viewing, I thought everyone would like a review.

Ok, Sadly "Rescue at Midnight Mountain" and "Escape from Katrina" were both the tv versions. I hadn't really seen the first one before, however in "Escape from Katrina" they didn't air the song sequence with Katrina and Rep and the original closing theme. I was a little disappointed. That duet really explained that Katrina did once have a heart. However, on a positive note, the cuts don't take away from the over all viewing pleasure. I still enjoyed watching it.

Each episode does have the option of chosing a part or you can watch all of them as a whole movie. That I did find very convinent. Especially since each part is only 10 minutes long. I had forgotten that. It's amazing the things you don't remember from your childhood viewing. My little sister couldn't get enough of watching it.

Overall, I thought it was very well done. It's well worth the money. (I went through Amazon and was able to afford it a little easier) Hopefully they will release the second season very soon. With any luck, the movie will be with it. The bonus for me was that it still works it's magic on little kids. Babysitting just got easier.

Hey DreamEmpress, how much did the box set cost? Last I heard (and this was a LONG while ago), it was around 60 bucks. Is it still that much? And wasn't the name of the pilot "Rescue from Midnight Castle"? Or am I thinking of something else?
Personally, I only want, like, three episodes: Somnambula, Bright Lights, and...one other...that I can't remember the name of.

crazydiamond, I rechecked my boxset and it says the pilot is "Rescue from Midnight Castle". When I had checked online originally, it said Mountain. It's confusing so I'm going to stick with Castle. Thanks for pointing that out. I hate to give the wrong information.

The retail price is still $60. I went through amazon pre-order and it cost me $45 something with tax. Other places may want some other amount. I suggest looking around a bit for a good price.

The episode Bright Lights is in this set. Somnambula (sp?) was in the 2nd season. I want to see that episode too, but I have to wait until the next season is released.

OK, I downloaded a version of Rescue From Midnight Mountain a while back...can someone tell me exactly how to tell the difference between the TV version and any other version?
