what do you guys do when you're bored?

Anything and everything (outside of the stuff on the above forums) can be discussed here.

Post by RoastedTwinkies » Sun Aug 08, 2004 11:38 pm

It's simple! Read the title! Summer is almost out, so what do you guys suggest to do before college starts in September? Be as simple or broad as you wish! I need things to do, besides sitting around the house before school starts!

Personally, I like having get-togethers with my otaku friends, having anime marathons, but it does sorta get redudant after a while. Anime related activities would be great! Thanks!

Hmmm....you could always dress up as an anime character and go window shopping at a mall....it's fun  As long as you don't mind getting A LOT of weird looks. Just don't videotape it, that can get you into trouble. You could also go to a park, not an amusement park, but like a park with swings and stuff. Those are a lot of fun too...especially with your best friend.

Shan: *looks at me*
Me: What was that noise?
Shan: Jackie, its been thundering out for the past half hour.
Me: It has?
Shan: Yes, Jackie. Your brain exploded.

I'm a dork, so I open up photoshop or moviemaker, and make webgraphics or music videos ^^;;

Lately we've been getting together with another couple to play cards or dominos...that's always fun.

Sometimes I bust out Karaoke revolution when I'm alone, and sing at the top of my lungs to that.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

When I'm bored I just stare blankly at the computer screen. ^^;; Anyway, if you don't want to have so many anime marathons with your friends, why not play some video games? Multiplayer games are always fun to play with friends (of course!), so you could get together and play lots of video games for a weekend. As for outdoor activities, I agree with the going to a park idea. You can also have a picnic as they'll always be fun and of course, there's swimming too (if your local pools and/or lakes are still open, that is).

I'm dangerous when I'm bored. Because I either get bored-depressed, don't feel like doing anything, and I angst over everything, or I get bored-hyper, and I'm completely random and weird, because I want to do everything. Just ask Tiff. She gets the "pleasure" of talking to me when I'm bored. ^^;;

I start drawing anime stuff, or write fanfiction, or read ANY Star Trek novel and/or manga I check out from the library. :) I also go anime-shopping at the mall, play an anime on my new computer,*hugs his new baby* I also collect mangas like "Sailor Moon", "Mahoromatic: Automatic Maiden", "Aoi Yori Aoshi", etc. Still drawing for the fanfic, still on chapter 1.

I'm writing this Sailor Moon/Green Lantern crossover AU fic called "Emerald Sunrise". It's a hybrid of Action/Adventure, Sci-Fi, Romance, and Comedy. It's about Ami (Sailor Mercury) getting a new boyfriend who just happens to be a member of The Green Lantern Corps. I'm also throwing in some other characters from other animes and some old Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the late '60's early '70's. I'm also illustrating it as well. Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.

I either start to go slightly insane and clean my room, or I lug my friends out to go random places...Like my friend Lauren and I go for 4 hours walks at times. Which usually leads us to McDonalds. Where I have a hot fudge sunade. ^^
But if I'm babysitting for my little brothers...*kills*, I stuff them upstairs, and have a Lord of the Rings marathon....Whoot.
Either that, or I start digging around, and reading old books that I used to have in like, Grade One. Take yesterday, for example, where I read "The Berenstain Bears and the Maniac Mansion", followed by "Calvin and Hobbes: Something under the bed is drooling." O.O Granted, the last one is something I still read, but I hadn't seen the book for years...
Mr. James : Lost a satellite on liftoff today.
Dave : Cost?
Mr. James : 10 million dollars.
Dave : Result?
Mr. James : Extreme set back.
Dave : Milk?
Mr. James : Spilled.
Dave : Gonna cry about it?
Mr. James : Not even.
Dave : I''m sitting on a rather sharp tack.
Mr. James : That's gotta hurt.
Dave : Well, life's a bitch...
Mr. James : ...And then you die.
Dave : My...
Mr. James : ...oh...
Dave : ...my.

I'll usually go for a nice long drive and listen to music, then stop off for something to eat. The reading and video games and anime marathons are things I plan to do, not really spontaneous things.
Things I think Are Funny Early in the Morning: If Batman were a Smurf: "Quick, Robin! We must smurf down to the Batcave and smurf the Batplane! Then we must smurf the batsmurf so we can smurf where the Joker is smurfing!"

The Croonerism Spate (explanations upon request)
Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

Boredom is something I know well. Sometimes I play on my old gameboy from the 80's. I read all my manga and have anime marathons. sometimes I write stories or songs, other times I draw and listen to music. One time I helped a friend dye her hair.

Lately I've been doing areobics. It all depends on what you feel like doing.

I just wander around complaining about being bored.
Like Tiff, I load Photoshop and make graphics. I usually make a journal layout, or a layout of some kind, and make graphics to donate to a community I belong to at GJ. Or I'll draw artwork on adobe or hop on to an Oekaki board and doodle some.

I'll BS some time over at Kingdom of Loathing. You're allowed only 40 adventures a day, I quickly return to my state of bordom.
Reading was always a good time killer or cleaning random rooms in the house. I'm not very exciting when I'm bored.
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

I either flip through the channels on tv or chat for hours with my friends. normally through AIM or the phone in the summer. And in person during the school year.

Edit: I'm also likely to be online looking at a message board when I'm bored. ^^; Though I usually do that while I'm doing something else at the same time.

I dust around the house, or try to work on my drawing skills. Both activities usually end in a mess. I also get the random/hyper thing and drive the people in chatrooms insane with my battle-chat skills.

I clean the house, listen to loud music on my stereo, clean the house while jumping around to loud music on my stereo, IM people, or watch Vh1.

Usually it's a combo of those, which is why I'm so bad at replying to people's IMs.

When I am bored, I watch TV, play on my computer, clean something, read, or eat (I don't get fat from that either. I am about 5 foot 2 inches tall and weigh about 130 pounds. And I eat alot.)
