I'm a big fan of star wars but I think some people blow things out of proportion. Everywhere I go people complain about this.

*Shrug* And people have a right to.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

This link to news on imdb says that Lucas might make three sequels to the original trilogy (meaning episodes 7, 8, and 9) The article is the fifth one. If it has the characters from the original trilogy, obviously the original actors can't play them. I wonder who Lucas might hire to play them.

Old thread, but I recently found a site that details all of the changes between the original triology, the special edition VHSs and the newer boxset (with pictures and audio clips to). That link to the imdb board doesn't work anymore, but pretty much all of the changes on it weren't true (I've got to have my head examined. I actually believed something from imdb >_<).

This page Shows the differences in A New Hope, This one Empire Strikes Back, and this one Return of the Jedi.

Okay, I'll admit that a lot of the changes aren't that bad and that Lucas doesn't seem to be as insane as every thought at first. Most of these changes just clear up the video and make it clearer. There are a few stupid changes, but I was considering getting this boxset, until I read the last bit of Return of the Jedi. The whole "switch Sebastian Shaw for Hayden Christensons" thing is reason enough for me to avoid this boxset.

Well, incase anyone was avoiding that boxset because of the chagnes listed from imdb may want to read these pages and give it another shot. Either way they're a great time killer if you're like me who likes reading random, useless information :P

ZOMG!!!!11111
Responding to legions of fans, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment have agreed to release the original versions of the first three Star Wars movies, unmodified by digital enhancements, on Sept. 12. Each of the films, Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return of the Jedi (1983) will be released separately and will be accompanied by a second disc offering the digitally reedited version produced in 2004. They will be withdrawn from circulation on Dec. 31. A promo for the new releases states: "See the title crawl to Star Wars before it was known as Episode IV; see the pioneering, if dated, motion-control model work on the attack on the Death Star; groove to Lapti Nek or the Ewok Celebration song like you did when you were a kid; and, yes, see Hans Solo shoot first."
And all was right with the universe. And it only took 100 million Star Wars nerds to bring Lucas back from the dark side.

So wait, the original versions will have both the original AND remastered version, but it'll only be on sale from Sep 12th to Dec 31st?

Hmm.......I might get this just for the sheer collector value of it.

I'm curious as to how much they'll be if each DVD has two versions of the movie. Although I just hope that the old movies will be good quality. As long as I can hear it and the screen looks clear and doesn't melt I'll be happy.

Well, I know what I'm putting down on my Christmas Wish list this year. I'm glad that the original versions of Star Wars are finally being released on DVD. I saw them a long time ago and I only have the remastered edition on VHS, so it'll be nice to have it on DVD. Is the remastered edition that's going to be released with the original version the remastered edition that was previously released on VHS or is it going to be the one that's on the current Star Wars DVDs?

I think it's the current DVD versions (the re-release, of course now that they'll be packaged with the originals, which are technically the re-re-release, this would make them the re-re-re-release versions.)

Are there going to be extras, or if I want the extras, I'll have to buy the regular remastered only release.

The only thing I gotta about the original versions finally being released on DVD is...

FINALLY!

It doesn't matter who shot first, but it does matter to have the originals released!
"After all these years, you know it's not about control. It's about trying to do everything I can. And for you, it's about setting an example. Everyone looks up to you. They listen to you.
