RPG recommendations.

Post by Ni-ban Neko » Fri Jul 30, 2004 3:39 pm

Argh, I had a huge long post typed up, and now I've got to do it again because the computer I'm on burped before I could post it. :(

I know a lot of people here role-play in one form or fashion, and well... the bug has bitten me again, and I'm 2000 miles away from my pen-and-paper RPG buddies, who aren't playing anymore (too many people doing that whole "real life" thing). There's a lot of online RPGs out there, and I'm looking for recommendations for a place from you guys.

I'm not interested in fandom-type RPGs - no Harry Potter, no BSSM, or anything like that - original characters only, and while I've played a catgirl (for lack of a better description; Angelica was really more humanoid than feline) before, it wasn't in a "furry" context and I'd like to stay away from that too.

I've played a few different types - my most recent character (the catgirl) was a dancer/gymnast who was very naive - not stupid by any means, just very, very naive - and a blast to play. Other past characters of mine have been a pretty straightforward cleric type and a character who I can only describe as an author avatar - she wasn't me, but she was a lot like me in some ways.

I'd like to play a healer-type, but not the typical straightforward cleric/white mage.

So... where do you roleplay, what's it like, what do you like about it and what don't you like - any and all info is appreciated. :)

Well, Dave can tell you a bit more about this, but..

I play at Shattered Realms, aka "Shards".

http://www.shattered-realms.com

There are many different hubs, mostly fantasy/medieval type settings, but there are also modern-day hubs, along with the typical fandom hubs. You can play in whatever hubs you want, you can make up to 8 original characters, and each hub has their own set of rules, and then Shards has its set of basic, overall rules.

It's a great place, and while some of the hubs run amock with newbies (*shudder*) and are lacking in rules, other hubs (Such as Scarburough, where Dave and I have taken to playing) are run quite well.

If you have anymore questions, IM me, Jen =D

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I like the RPG known as Legend of The Green Dragon. It's a remake of Legend of The Red Dragon, but it's still a lot of fun to play.

There isn't a lot of graphics, mostly words. You can find me there as Mamorus Sweetie Usagi. If you need help playing, just AIM me. :)
